There was a point in their relationship where she'd become acutely aware of how much Mayerling could pick up, but he'd never drawn her attention to it; he never made her uncomfortable or concerned. Nowadays, it's not a concern. If she lies to him, which happens on occasion, especially if she's working her feelings out, she knows he'll give her grace, just as he knows she'll eventually speak with him on the subject truthfully.

It's difficult for Sharon to remember that these memories are thousands of years old. So far out that his family has died off and all that's left is him. She gives him a squeeze. "What do you feel you could have done differently?" She has a habit of writing off the misdeeds, mistakes, and even horrifying crimes of those she loves but that's not what Mayerling is looking for.
