That's the thing about Thirteen, she'll pluck you from anywhere. Time, space, the various different universes and pocket dimensions mean nothing to them. They can just pluck people and people-adjacent beings to their hearts content and plop them anywhere they wish. Even if the person in question is already in Thirteen's sandbox which happens to be the case with Kate.

One moment she had been in her bakery slash cafe, about to hand a patron his order, and then next moment she finds herself at Amrita Academy. Great. Doesn't Thirteen known that she is a very busy businesswoman who has things to do? Does Thirteen realize that it's a long ways back to Epiphany? They know but such inconsequential matters are beyond them.

She is greeted by a Fox who instructs her to make a list and she does do that. However, her list of items are so very trivial. She doesn't need survival items. She needs to get back to JavaCakes!

Kate heads towards the exit of Amrita Academy and that's when she spots Dick. He is fishing in what Kate can only describe as the most disgusting looking lake ever. Curiosity gets the better of her and she approaches. She still has the cup of coffee (black) and a small, brown paper bag which contains a muffin as she hasn't yet come across a garbage can. (She would feel bad about just leaving anywhere!)
