It is hard to take this as anything but a situation that's doomed to fall into chaos at any second, but Dick recognizes that he's only struggling with that worry because of his past experiences with being dragged around by powers this far above his paygrade. But in any case he's gone over the school grounds, hunted for any sort of clue that there's some other layer to this, and came up with nothing, so he's mostly just throwing himself into this to try to keep himself busy.

The cube expands and a canteen with a shoulder strap comes tumbling out of it, which he catches before it hits the ground, since she seems to already be juggling a few things as it is, but he's also going to offer it to her, apparently unconcerned about keeping these items for himself. He's had time to accumulate everything he really needs anyway.
