PANDORA'S FOX II

If you were here last June, do you remember that app that appeared on the relics then, Pandora's Fox? It's all about finding your Familiar bond. It's been available for people to use since every Star Child was forced to fill it out or have it filled out for them with its grand reveal. However, it's sat quietly in the background unobtrusive to those who didn't click to see what it was about.
Until now.
That's right, Pandora's Fox is back! (and with a makeover). The app has been rejiggered with old questions and new, including some specific to each Role! The app will buzz and open itself with a blank profile waiting to be filled out. Star Children can fill it out for themselves—as long as they don't lie. This app will not allow Star Children to lie. Honesty is important in a Familiar bond. Star Children who lie may find that answer filled in a little too honestly and unable to be deleted. Anyone who waits too long to fill it in will find it answered for them!
Familiar bonds come in all different shapes and sizes, so find the right person for you!

And as far as my understanding of it, yes. I have one such bond she gave me on a whim.

Keep talking like that, and you're going to have me feeling all warm and toasty inside. I knew you couldn't resist my charms.
The feeling's mutual, you know. You're one of the few I'd trust for something like that.
[ Which means his hackles are immediately up at the idea of Fenris getting stuck with such a bond without his consent. ]
With who?

And I will see that your well-founded trust is not ill placed.
[A pause. He might as well explain.]
Rue, one day when we touched color stained our skin and clothes everywhere we made contact. It has been that way since. I have come to terms with it and if I had a choice I would share a bond with them, but the fact our choice in the matter was not considered has never sat well with me.
[Choice and freedom and consent are deeply, deeply important to Fenris, so even if he does not mind the bond now, it will never be fully appreciated for what was taken away from them by the Fox to form it.]

I'll do the same.
[ Rue. The only reason that Varric doesn't immediately put the name on his shitlist is because he recognizes it from the profile written for Fenris on this thing - and because the way he talks about them makes it clear that there's friendship and trust there.
Still. He slides it on his list of people to meet anyway.
This is, honestly, the first time that Varric has felt anything like anger about this place. He's been unimpressed, mildly freaked out, and frustrated, sure, but this trial hasn't seemed so bad, and he's mostly been curious about the nature of this place and the one who brought them here.
But this? Fenris deserves better, and it angers him enough to just say exactly that. ]
You deserve better than that.
[ It's quiet, the kind of serious he only very rarely is. He hopes Fenris doesn't need him to tell him that, but he does anyway, and he lets it stand for a moment. Then he barrels right on ahead. ]
Painted touch? They all like that?

As much as he cares for Rue and has come to terms with the bond, even grown to like how the colors blossom under their touch and the way it soothes his soul, it will forever be something forced on them. Perhaps it's his own perception of this place being a gilded cage, of Thirteen as their captor... but it's a feeling he can't shake.
Not after the life he's lived.]
Thank you.
[It's small and soft, sincere, but he moves forward when Varric does, understanding and not wishing to linger on the vulnerability.]
No, they come in many forms to my knowledge: sharing thoughts and emotions, messages on skin, empowering each other. [He can acknowledge their benefits, even if the Fox's methods sit ill with him]
no subject
Instead, he switches his focus over to considering the different effects of a bond. ]
Huh. You know, sharing thoughts and emotions would make a great twist in the next chapter of my romance series.
[ Of course, that doesn't mean he wants anything like that himself. ]
I'm guessing it's another one of those things that you don't get to actually pick when making a bond?
no subject
[A pause as he frowns thinking about it.]
Though I imagine if you asked the Fox for one directly, she would possibly grant it. [There's no lack of distrust in what he says, he quite clearly hates Thirteen.]
