PANDORA'S FOX II

If you were here last June, do you remember that app that appeared on the relics then, Pandora's Fox? It's all about finding your Familiar bond. It's been available for people to use since every Star Child was forced to fill it out or have it filled out for them with its grand reveal. However, it's sat quietly in the background unobtrusive to those who didn't click to see what it was about.

Until now.

That's right, Pandora's Fox is back! (and with a makeover). The app has been rejiggered with old questions and new, including some specific to each Role! The app will buzz and open itself with a blank profile waiting to be filled out. Star Children can fill it out for themselves—as long as they don't lie. This app will not allow Star Children to lie. Honesty is important in a Familiar bond. Star Children who lie may find that answer filled in a little too honestly and unable to be deleted. Anyone who waits too long to fill it in will find it answered for them!

Familiar bonds come in all different shapes and sizes, so find the right person for you!

No. Does anyone choose their Role? It's the one I like best. Met a Legend!me and a Familiar!me the first August I was here, and you know what? I like me!me, Myth!me, best.

They were me, me if things went a bit different. Though the one most similar to me was the one who possessed me. She got on the shuttle to go to the Cohort, the one Crux set a bomb on. If I'd beat Harrow that morning, like she did, that'd have been me. I'd be the one about to die because Crux sees people as lines in his ledger.

[ They saved her, that other Gideon. While other people got presents from home, Gideon got a bomb. Well worth it in exchange for that other her living her life. ]

Why'd he set a bomb? [ Deliberate topic change. ]

Because anyone abandoning the Ninth or disobeying his laaaaaaaaady deserves it in his opinion. (Even though that robs him of their skeleton in a way poison would not. Though I suppose if he poisons the pilot of the shuttle too, that'd put him in a worse position once its found AND leaves him denied a corpse.)

[ It's no wonder Crux plays a role in so many of Gideon's Trials. ]

He's old. Why didn't you beat the shit out of him?

[ Gideon stares at the question a while. She threatened to follow through if he drew on her. He didn't, not then. A good portion of her life she'd have lost to Crux if she tried. That's not enough to stop her, she doesn't think. The answer though... ]

Harrow would've made my life more of a living hell for that. Crux was her man, and she didn't have many people she could rely on.

Well I was trying to join the Cohort. So probably there. Met myself from the Cohort, so I got to see what that was like.

[ Not terrible by any means. Also not her while still being her. It was weird. As much as she was aiming for it, a Gideon without a Harrow is a very weird thing. ]

I have a hard time imagining you in any sort of military, Gideon.

I know, right? But they can't be stricter than the Ninth House.

[ Weirdly, she has memories of serving coffee on a Cohort ship? Gideon doesn't have an explanation for that. ]

A religious order vs the military. Yeah, I'd take the military, too.

Especially when the religious order's a bunch of old people who can die of shock (even positive shock), and the military has people your age.

Not just old people that can die of shock, but old people that are also assholes.

Crux was asshole number one, the ass-est of holes. Most of them only avoided me. Like the place more when I'm away.

Was he just an ass to you because Harrow hated you or was it something else?

He full on hated me in his own right. I wasn't a proper Niner by his count. Not by a whole long list of measures, but he felt responsible for me (as a thing) and for making use of me, which gave him a stomach ulcer just from thinking about.

Hey, maybe you didn't get to beat him to a pulp, but I've heard stomach ulcers are awful.
