PANDORA'S FOX II

If you were here last June, do you remember that app that appeared on the relics then, Pandora's Fox? It's all about finding your Familiar bond. It's been available for people to use since every Star Child was forced to fill it out or have it filled out for them with its grand reveal. However, it's sat quietly in the background unobtrusive to those who didn't click to see what it was about.

Until now.

That's right, Pandora's Fox is back! (and with a makeover). The app has been rejiggered with old questions and new, including some specific to each Role! The app will buzz and open itself with a blank profile waiting to be filled out. Star Children can fill it out for themselves—as long as they don't lie. This app will not allow Star Children to lie. Honesty is important in a Familiar bond. Star Children who lie may find that answer filled in a little too honestly and unable to be deleted. Anyone who waits too long to fill it in will find it answered for them!

Familiar bonds come in all different shapes and sizes, so find the right person for you!

If I give them the benefit of the doubt, I would say they are respecting my stated wishes. This may have been filled out for me, but it seems honest enough.

If you don't mind my questions, do you find your role as Familiar fulfilling? It sounds as if you believe it to be fitting for yourself.

[Makie is kind all the way up to the point where she is Not. Dismemberment is often involved at that point.]

I don't mind. And... hmm. I must confess I haven't thought about it overly much, but I do like being able to fly. [And to hide in a small form that nobody can find that doesn't have to talk to people, that's also good.]

I am certainly no Legend. [She probably doesn't have enough conviction to be a Myth, either.]

Hm. [Her words give Akechi the slightest pause.] I'm not much of a Legend either, going by the believed traits of one. Myth might have been a better fit. [But Thirteen has her reasons...probably.]

You have the convictions of a Legend. A desire to see a brand of justice done. [A legend, she thinks, does not necessarily need to be some heroic paragon of virtue. She is not blind to Akechi's other traits.]

We're of the same mind. That's exactly what I said. It's the only commonality I can find between myself and the other supposed Legend traits. My unwavering conviction to justice.

Likewise, your capacity to not only see, but to understand varying situations from the perspective of others, that isn't a trait I've ever possessed. It's admirable. That even if you wish to remain here in Thirteen's realm, you've never once tried to discourage my return home. There are not many here who would do the same.

No, I've found that a majority of the star children that I've interviewed want nothing more than to remain here. They believe any disruption to Thirteen's power over this place might make it too unstable to live in.

They've tried, but my stubbornness is unmatched so far. Though I imagine I'll have my share of enemies here before I'm done.

Talking is the only option they have. [Mildly. Killing him certainly won't work. And thus Makie doesn't need to be concerned.]

I cannot fault them for it, but your choices are your own.

If my leaving was tied to the destruction of Folkmore as a whole, if one leaving meant that everyone else was forced to exit as well, would your opinion change?

[She pauses for a moment, giving the question due weight; her opinion really hasn't changed.

Gently:] My opinion was given when I already assumed that may be the outcome. This is an unnatural plane. Those of us who are dead are merely living on borrowed time and it is a luxury. Do as you will.

But Makie answers as she always does, gently, but with full honesty, and the teenager hums in response as he mulls over her words.]

You know that isn't my intention. If I'm able, I want you to remain here. But either way, I'm grateful for your answer. My mind is unchanged, but it's impossible to deny there aren't other factors involved now.
