Time to dig in, and dig in he did! Though it was obvious there was plenty to go around and he no longer had to share, he ate in huge portions, as if afraid the food would vanish the moment he stopped eating. He had some table manners... just not a lot of them. Not out of rudeness, but there were just some things he simply never learned or had been taught to him.
