December-January 2024-2025 Test Drive Meme

December-January 2024-2025 TDM
Introduction

[ TDM QuestionsJump to CommentsFull Navigation ]

This Test Drive meme is open to all.

Welcome to Folkmore's monthly Test Drive Meme! Please feel free to test drive any and all characters regardless of your intent to apply or whether you have an invite or not.

All TDMs are game canon and work like "mini-events". For new players and characters, you can choose to have your TDM thread be your introduction thread upon acceptance or start fresh. Current players are also allowed to have in-game characters post to the TDM so long as they mark their top levels ‘Current Character.’

TDM threads can be used for spoon spending at any time by characters accepted into the game.

Playing and interacting with the TDMs will allow characters to immediately obtain a canon item from home, especially weapons or other things they may have had on their person when they were pulled from their worlds! There will always be a prompt that provides some sort of "reward" to characters who complete certain tasks.

Current players are always encouraged to tag new people on the TDM!

🦊 New Star Children meet the Fox still in their worlds, and she brings them into the new realm of Folkmore. As you follow her, your body begins to change and new characteristics emerge. These may stay for a while, or perhaps they will hide away after. And during all of this, the Fox explains to you where you will be going: to Folkmore.

and then... you fall like a shooting star, falling to the land in a burst of starlight.

🦊 Experienced Star Children are already familiar with this time of the month. There are shooting stars all across the sky, and some fall to the land, which means the Fox has brought new arrivals. These newly arrived Star Children will face some tests, but Thirteen wants the more seasoned residents to participate as well.

Perhaps you follow the falling stars on your own, or perhaps the Fox simply teleports you there, but it appears you too will be part of this.

[ Prompt OnePrompt Two]

Murder on the Folkmore Express .
Content Warnings: hysical Entrapment, Fictional Crimes, Forced Engagement

Winter has come to Folkmore in full force, and with it, the desire for most to get to their destinations as fast as possible. The cold is bitter, after all, and nips at bare skin in most of the realm's regions. The public transport system becomes a safe haven for all; a perfect way to take a break in comfortable warmth as both spirits and Star Children alike travel along stretches of land. From the Cat Bus to the trains, to the submarines that lead to Tides, to even the hot air balloons which provide a beautiful sightseeing tour before touching down on Never Fade… There are more than enough public vehicles to board.

And this is exactly where newly arrived Star Children will find themselves: aboard one of the bigger public transportation methods. With a flash of light visible to all, their landing in this new realm is made known to all other passengers.

Something funny is going on, that much becomes clear within several seconds. Perhaps a nearby cat spirit will keel over dramatically in the middle of the train's aisle, pretending to have died. Perhaps a frog spirit will let out a loud croaking wail, proclaiming their precious wedding ring has been stolen just now. Or perhaps a timid little mouse will come up to Star Children, prattling on about how worried they are for their missing spouse. They are all acting, as is evident from their lack of skill in that department. They relish the opportunity to spin their little tales, their characterization often broken by mischievous smiles or hasty snickers into the palm of their paws. Once the stage is set and the story is out into the world, the spirits will look towards the nearest Star Children with clasped hands and hopeful gazes. 'Will you solve the mystery?' they seem to ask. Sometimes they'll even voice the question aloud.

One thing is for certain: Star Children have found themselves in their very own locked room whodunnit setup!

The puzzling scenarios have a wide range of possibilities. Perhaps someone vanished, with the questions being whether they've hidden themselves somewhere in the vehicle and why. Or maybe a mysterious spirit suffers from a sudden bout of amnesia. Who are they, and how did they lose their memories in the first place? Was that person lying on the floor poisoned? If so, how? What makes these mysteries extra difficult to crack is the very magic coursing through Folkmore. That heap of ash under a seat may be evidence, burnt to a crisp with fire magic. The 'dead' body may have been moved from the original crime scene through teleportation. Or the missing ring may have been enchanted to return to its original owner, which leads to the shocking reveal that the one reporting the crime was a thief all along. All cases range in difficulty level.

There is a catch. The transport will not stop until the conundrum is brought to a satisfactory conclusion. The train will pass by stations, the Cat Bus will keep sprinting, submarines will circle Tides indefinitely… And the doors will remain locked, with even teleportation powers null and void. Star Children cannot disembark until the mystery is solved. Better work together to find those clues!

  • New Star Children arrive in one of Folkmore's public transport vehicles.
  • Spirits will re-enact locked room mysteries for Star Children to solve.
  • Cases range from murder mysteries to missing persons, to simple theft.
  • The vehicle will not stop until the mystery is resolved!
The Gift Train .
Content Warnings: Potential Information Reveal, Item Alteration

A cheerful ding rings out from each Star Child's Relic. It's a modest grab for their attention, a sign that something lies in wait. Checking out the origin, the recipients will find that they've received a message from Jewelia, one of Thirteen's aspects. It reads as follows: "It is a time for giving and a time for sharing. A time for friendship and a time for caring. Seek out this Star Child, and exchange with them a modest gift. Should you succeed and make the trade, then watch it shift."

What follows is not a name, but a list with facts. For example, a certain Star Child's role, which region they currently live in, what color their hair is, who their best friend is… It's all trivial data which, when put together, should point the seeking Star Child towards one particular individual. That's only the first part of the challenge, of course! Should they take the next step, they must give whoever they hunted down a gift. This can range from a batch of homemade cookies to a knitted sweater, to even a neat rock they found! It doesn't matter how big or small the gift is, whether it was bought or made… The present needs to be exchanged for something else.

As soon as the objects pass hands, they will evolve. They become nicer, or bigger, or tastier. The neat rock now shimmers like it's covered in eternal glitter. The knitted sweater now has a knitted hood to pull up over one's head. The cookies may take on a cutesy shape, or become more filling, with even a single bite enough to sate for a whole evening. The plain knife found in Folkmore becomes an engraved sword. This is the true power of sharing, and of paying good will forward.

Once an exchange is complete, each Star Child’s Relic will ding another time. A new list of facts appears, and they can repeat the process again. They have the option to give a new gift to their next match, or they can re-gift the item they were just given. There's no limitations to how much a single gift can upgrade, though objects will never become enchanted. They simply become nicer.

There's one more twist to this assignment: after three successful gift exchanges, the Relic plays an additional, cheerful little chime. A little victory note, almost. When the Star Child returns to their home afterwards, they'll find a small package waiting for them on their pillow (or whatever's close enough to a bed if they don't have one). Inside is a small item from their home world. It may even be a weapon or magical item. Just another reward for rising to the challenge!

  • Star Children receive a message on their Relic: a list of facts leading them to another Star Child.
  • When they find this Star Child and exchange a small gift with them, the gift will evolve into something nicer.
  • If a Star Child succeeds in three successful exchanges, they will find a small item from home waiting for them in their home, atop their pillow.

THE HOUND OF FOLKMORE
[As the train passes through the tunnel, there's a dramatic shriek accompanied by a surprised bark. Silence quickly follows, and it's only upon the train exiting the tunnel and light returning to the car that it becomes clear: there's been a murder! Or, well, it's entirely possible that the Star Children aboard the train may very well miss the crime until a rabbit spirit lets out an additional shriek and pushes the victim beside them away. The cat spirit in question commits to the bit in being shoved with a careful tumble out of their seat to land on the floor of the car.]

[Ammy leaps down from her seat a few rows back from where the body has dropped, racing over immediately and looking up and down the aisle for any immediate signs of a culprit. After all, for this attack to have happened so swiftly and under the cover of darkness...! But sniffing the air, there's no unusual scents and she does not sense the encroaching, corrupting influence of an evil spirit lurking about anywhere on the train car. Letting out a soft whine, she begins to paw gently at the cat spirit as she gives a sniff near their face. It's then that the body...lets out a giggle!?]

[Amaterasu leaps back in her surprise, colliding with the legs of the nearest Star Child that's come over to investigate. If a canine could look bewildered, it's certainly Ammy right now.]
SANTA PAWS
[Cocking her head to one side at the Relic on the ground in front of her, Ammy reads over both the message and list from Jewelia. As she does, Ammy's tail begins to wag slowly until it begins to pick up speed and her whole butt is wiggling along with it. Now this is a challenge she can get behind! Amaterasu has not been here long enough to possibly know all the Star Children! And while perhaps not as vast as Nippon, Folkmore is nothing to snuff at when it comes to its size. But she likes the prospect of making a new friend and making someone happy.]

[But how to begin...?]

[Well, it seems very silly to Ammy to start with searching for the person. After all, if the fox spirit has arranged this much, there must be a degree to which meeting the Star Child in question is inevitable. So, perhaps the better place to start is with the gift. Ammy paws the Relic closed before she picks it up and... Where did it go? Who can say? It doesn't matter at any rate. It's carefully tucked away wherever it went, leaving Ammy with the freedom to move on to securing her gift.]

[It takes a bit of time to do, of course. Ammy takes her time traveling all over Folkmore to find the perfect view. Or rather views as it were. As it turns out, Folkmore possesses a great deal of natural beauty that makes it difficult for her to decide on just one image to recreate. So, she decides to paint at least one painting per region in Folkmore, reflecting life there whether that includes spirits and some Star Children or merely just the landscape alone. To some, those who see the white wolf and little else, it will seem as though the ink appears on the nearby scroll of paper, manifesting as though it was just merely waiting to be revealed once brought to the right place. To others, those who are able to see the truth of what Ammy is, it's obvious that it is the goddess who is painting these images with her celestial brush, the very tip of her tail dipped in ink.]
((ooc: as a note, if your character is sensitive (as in can sense supernatural beings or is psychic, not emotionally sensitive) or has faith in god(s), your character should perceive ammy in her true form. if not, she will just appear a white wolf/dog. it's not a perfect binary though! some might see faint traces of her true form like being able to see her markings faintly or if they look at her out of the corner of her eye, there might be a reason for a double take. i leave it entirely up to whoever is tagging her to determine if they see her true form or not and to what extent. so go with your heart! i will match prose or brackets as may be your preference!))

Mikleo | Tales of Zestiria | Familiar

[personal profile] tsunergy 2024-12-14 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
( i: arrival )

[This particular shooting star crash-lands on the beach. Someone nearby might find him sitting in the sand, squinting out at the open water like he's trying to solve a puzzle.

...Or, for those with limited or no spiritual resonance, they might just see a divot and an empty space where someone might've crashed. That's weird!]

This feels familiar. Have I been here before...?

[Maybe he had a dream of it, once. Either way, before long he'll get up and go wandering. Perhaps check out the station. What is that incredible machine over there!? (It's a train, whee.)]

( ii-a: folkmore express )

[It won't take Mikleo long to hop onto the train, so very curious about this strange new technology he's encountered. Naturally he gets stuck in one of the inescapable whodunnits, which while frustrating (he wanted to explore, come on!) is not the end of the world. It helps that there's a puzzle to keep him occupied, and he loves puzzles. It's not as good as a historical mystery, but he'll take it.

Mikleo is attentive as the ordeal is outlined, seated nearby in one of the train booths with a notebook and a pencil, jotting careful notes of every single detail.]

Let's see... the cat kidnapped the mouse, and when the mouse ended up dead, the bird gave the cat an alibi... but there's some obvious coercion going on here. It can't be as simple as it sounds, can it?

[Detective Meebo is on the case.]

( ii-b: folkmore express - the Nope edition )

[Today's mystery features a distraught dog spirit. The poor pup has lost his bone collection! Won't you help him? Well, you're going to have to, because Mikleo is currently trying to hide himself behind anything that seems to conceal him: the seats, some luggage, other spirits, you. Whatever keeps the dog away from him.]

Stay back! No thank you! I don't know where your whatever-it-is went!

( iii: the gift train )

[Ding! Here's your relic facts, better find a certain water spirit:]

-hair for days, coloured silver-blue
-a familiar aquatic sort
-carries a single brown feather everywhere
-might be a ghost, actually
-can't you see him? try calling out "Weebo"!

[Mikleo is fairly easy to find, as he's exploring, so he could be anywhere, including nearby. Especially if you try that last one...]

[ ooc: Mikleo's a spirit who to some might go unheard/be invisible. no need to fill it out unless I get in-game but if you could peek at his resonance post I would so appreciate you! tl;dr, I am fine with him being seen/heard through Folkmore magic or limiting it for slower development, whatever you choose! ]

The Hound of Folkmore

[personal profile] somethingrevolutionary 2024-12-14 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
Mel spots the falling body, which falls like a living limp body rather than a corpse. She's been in Folkmore for some time, but no amount of time in a peaceful place, not Folkmore, not Piltover (before recent events), will make her forget what a body looks like when it is dead and falls. She understands the matter to be a farce, but even so she rises to make her way slowly over toward the fallen cat.

That's how the dog... spirit may be the right word but not one she's seen before, and it's hard to place exactly what is going on with the dog, save that her appearance seems to shift whenever Mel stops paying attention to her, backs into her legs. Mel crouches next to the dog and reaches slowly to pet her, if that is acceptable, while she takes a closer look at the giggling cat "corpse" before them.

She leans in close and whispers, "She's trying really hard to play dead. Don't let on you know."
byleapsandbounds: the kind i like to meet (pretty woman)

[personal profile] byleapsandbounds 2024-12-14 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
Ammy moves herself over a little as Mel crouches down to her level to not crowd her space and get out of the way of her knees as she's coming down. As a hand is extended to pet her, Ammy sits herself right down next to Mel and wags her tail lightly in appreciation for pets. She stills it though when Mel leans in close to whisper, likewise lowering her head and leaning closer in a conspiratorial manner. She makes a slightly confused noise as she looks back over at the cat spirit on the floor nearby, head cocking to one side. Indeed, the cat does appear to still be breathing even if she's no longer giggling.

Ammy looks to Mel again, and wags her tail with a quiet bark before she's back up on all fours, bouncing a little in place. She would do a little spin, but the aisle's too cramped with the "body," Mel, and Amaterasu all there. So, it's merely an enthusiastic wag of her tail to convey that she's ready to play whatever strange game this is!
somethingrevolutionary: (mel2-145)

[personal profile] somethingrevolutionary 2024-12-14 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
Mel pets the dog, as this is acceptable, and really the large white canine has soft fur that is pleasant under her hand. She's come by most of her animal experience in Folkmore between her stellacorn and slugcat, neither of which are a dog. So her knowledge is limited, but treating everyone like an intelligent being is truly the best way.

With a nod, Mel leans forward to inspect the "dead" cat. "Hmmm," she wonders aloud, "She died really quickly while in the train. It could be murder. Lets figure out how she died, so we know for sure."

Mel gently runs her hand where it seems welcome to give the cat ample opportunity to reveal the secrets of her death. She knows corpses don't wince, not in actuality, but this one makes a huge exaggerated wince, when Mel's hand gets near her side.

Peter Parker | TASM/NWH | Legend

[personal profile] powerandresponsibility 2024-12-14 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
*Murder on the Folkmore Express*

"Okay," Peter said, pacing up and down the train car while deep in thought as several woodland creatures (and one pigeon, did pigeons live in the woods?) looked on eagerly, some of them snickering and prodding each other. Peter had borrowed two baseball caps and wore one facing forward and the other facing backward in an attempt to mimic a deerstalker hat.

"Here's what happened," he continued, doing his best Monk imitation as he stopped pacing and stood up straight. "Poor Mister Rabbit was having his tea in the dining car, sipping away while reading the morning paper when suddenly... he croaked! Excuse me, my apologies Mrs. Frog, when he died," he said, gesturing to the nearby frog who gave a nod of acceptance of his apology. Peter hadn't been aware of how many phrases might be offensive to animals until he'd met some that could talk. This new world was definitely going to take some getting used to. "Seemingly a perfect crime! No one could have gotten to Mr. Rabbit in time to poison him and then leave before anyone else came into the dining car. No one except... his wife! And she would have gotten away with it if her bonnet hadn't slipped, revealing some suspiciously large ears for a rabbit, or should I say... Hare! Yes, Mrs. Rabbit is actually a hare, who IS fast enough to have brought her husband his coffee and ran off before anyone else saw her!"

The car erupted in a flurry of applause, or close to it as animals could muster, before the crowd suddenly disbursed to find someone else to play their game with.

"That's... that's it?" he asked, looking around a little disappointed. He wasn't sure what to expect but he had hoped for a bit more than that. This place seemed filled with all kinds of amazing things and honestly he could really use a distraction from... everything, right now. A mystery or talking animals or just someone else to talk to would have been really nice.

“Good job, Peter.” Midge had been sitting at the back of the car, watching the whole thing unfold. “Thanks for figuring that out pretty quickly. That’s the third fake mass transit murder that I’ve sat through this week and it’s starting to get annoying.” She’s this close to just not leaving Tides until the spirits are done with whatever this is.

Midge is wearing a fur-trimmed coat with gloves and pillbox hat, looking very much like a woman from her time period. Very little of her fashion choices have been changed by her time in Folkmore. She’s carrying a basket for the farmer’s market.

“How’ve you been?” she asks. It’s been a while since they’ve spoken.

Peter had absolutely no idea who this woman was, but apparently she knew him. Or was supposed to know him? This place was crazy enough that maybe she’d been assigned a job to have him solve another crime? Honestly as crazy as this all was he was of a mind to just go with it because if he stopped he felt like pet of himself might just break down. He’d already been pulled from his reality by Peter 1’s spell and then ending up here? It was a lot.

“A stunningly beautiful woman from my past, coming to get some help from the master detective?” He ventured, hoping that he was guessing right about this. The woman looked like she could be from an old timey detective novel, stunning blue eyed, dark hair, beautiful smile and all that. The fur coat on a train full of sentient animals was… a choice but maybe us was fake.

“What can undo for you, Miss…” he said, trailing off because he should know this woman according to the story but he didn’t.

She looks at Peter like he has two heads. “Midge. Did you forget my name?” He’s never really flirted with her before either, so his comment is kind of surprising.

“This isn’t part of the game,” she says, waving her free hand at the train car around them. “I’m just talking with you.”

"Good to see someone rolling in here with a sense of humor," Tommy says, settling into one of the train seats, smiling a little as the guy solves the mystery. It was warm in the train; this seemed to be one of the more mild ways this place had played with them; at least it was not another molasses flood.

He had dinner plans with Evan tonight, some more serious things to discuss, and the next steps.

"Did you just get here?" He asks.

“I absolutely wouldn’t forget your name. I just never knew it?” Peter admitted. At least he didn’t think that he knew this woman. He was pretty good with names and faces and the name and face weren’t ringing any bells.

“Sorry, I just got here. Not just on the train but to this place. The fox brought me here and then on the train these animals were doing a murder mystery… sorry. I thought you were playing a role. The mysterious beautiful woman from my past who had a case for me to solve.”

“Hey, who doesn’t love a good animal murder mystery party,” Peter said. He didn’t know until just a bit ago that he loved a good animal murder mystery party but apparently he did. At least when the animals were so adorably into it.

“But yeah, I just got here,” he said, sitting sideways in the seat in front of the guy and extending a hand. “I’m Peter. Peter Parker.”

“What do you mean you-?”

She cocks her head to the side. Midge isn’t even going to comment on the fact that he’s called her beautiful twice in the span of a minute, but maybe that should be her clue that this isn’t the Peter Parker she met before.

“You just got here? You don’t remember being here before?”

This isn’t the first time she’s run into someone who she thought was still in Folkmore, but apparently left and returned with no memories of ever being here.

[Well, this is a first. A (chimerical?) cute boy with the most fabulous hair literally cowering behind her in a way that she would normally try to ignore, because he definitely sets off some red flags. But on the other hand, Mikleo is not quite right to be a chimera.

For one, there's a dog spirit trying to whine at him and peer at him around Katie, so (a) okay fine, other people can clearly see him and (b) that there is a dog spirit and she is a cat spirit and some things are written in stone.]

I do, though. There's a bone fairy in the next car over-- [She flicks a finger toward the door leading out of the carriage in the opposite direction, and the spirit drops its act for a moment to give her a very skeptical look] --and I do believe they're starting a collection. Offer him a gift and he'll be forced to throw your bones back up.

[The dog spirit wasn't even looking for bones, so he just squints at them with incredible Doubt. Katie, you speciesist. But more importantly--] Games are only for those who want to play them. Go and find somebody less terrified.

[Mikleo looks properly at her - he'd chosen her at random in his panic - when she speaks as if she heard him, and that's when he spots the feline features. Oh, wow. Maybe she can see him? At least hear him... thank goodness. This dog spirit's been hounding him (hah) for ages now, it feels like. She doesn't especially feel like a seraph, but that's hardly the only sort of being in the world who might have resonance. He's admittedly never seen anyone but a seraph with similar features, but hmm.

He peers carefully over her shoulder at the dog, but he just stands there, looking dubious and wagging his tail. The spirit's gaze shifts to him, and swiftly he ducks back out of sight. Noooo thank you. Sure is persistent. (That's just a dog thing, apparently.)]

...Y... yes. What she said.

[ Oleandra stumbles a little when she's run into -- she had been observing a similar phenomenon with another spirit on the opposite seat, and hadn't been looking at who was behind her. She's quick to recover without falling over, though, and she turns to look at exactly what ran into her.

... A dog? A wolf? Something in the middle?

She's not exactly a pet person, so she doesn't look especially thrilled to see Ammy, cute as she is -- more confused and curious than anything. ]

[After trying her hardest to settle down in this train seat and process what on Rao's name is happening to her (taken away from her Earth after coming back from Earth-1 , a trickster fox, and... Taylor Swift?), a sad wail surprises Kara, the sound breaking her heart.]

Oh my--What's wrong? [She says, looking around for what she assumes to be a person in distress.]

Are you okay? Where are you--Oh.

[And then she looked down at her feet.]

It's awful! A tragedy, I say! [Says a little mouse wearing a pill box hat (and for some reason faking a southern accent), throwing her head back to wail again.]

Ah, geez, okay. Hold on, uh, ma'am, I'm coming.

[Kara bends down to offer her hand to the mouse, who stops crying immediately seeing the palm held out to her.

Huh.]

It's okay. Climb up. I got you. [The mouse oblidges, holding on to Kara's finger as she rights herself up, holding the mouse in front of her so they could speak face to face properly.]

Oh, thank you, sugah, you're too kind, [She says, patting Kara's thumb. Before Kara could even ask what was the matter, the mouse cut in with a dramatic flourish,] I am beside myself! BESIDE! My husband... IS MISSING! MY POOR MR. MOUSE! He is ALONE! COLD! And, GASP, hungry!

[Oh boy. Kara is hoping Mr. Mouse is out there somewhere, eating a lot of cheese and ham. She bites down on her lip to prevent a laugh from slipping out, disguising it as a cough.]

Aha--I mean, ohhh noooo! [Kara does look sympathetic at Mrs. Mouse's, er, plight at least. Hokey acting aside, it does look like she has some kind of task she needs to do, and this little creature picked her to do it.] We can't have that, can we? Those are three things a mouse shouldn't be!

No, it ain't! It is criminal! CRIMINAL! OH! MY MOUSEY!

[HOOONK.

Mrs. Mouse takes a handkerchief from underneath her hat and blows her nose on it. Kara bites down on her lip again. She's aware they're doing a bit here, but Mrs. Mouse is just so cute.]

Okay, that settles it, I'll help you.

Oooh! You will, sugah? ✨️✨️✨️ [Aww, look at those little hopeful eyes. They're liar eyes, but still adorable.]

Yes, ma'am. I'll see to it you and your beloved Mr. Mouse will be reunited.

YES! [HOOOOONK] My BELOVED! HOW I MISS YOUUUU!

Right... Now, if you don't mind, please move on to my shoulder for your comfort.

[Kara shifts her hand, gently ushering Mrs. Mouse to sit nicely on her shoulder.]

There. [She carefully boops the tip of Mrs. Mouse nose which makes the animal giggle.] I guess... [Kara stands up from her seat with a sigh, her free hand adjusting her glasses.] we start questioning the other passengers.

[And you, fellow Star Child, are first.]

Excuse me!

"I've never been here in my life..." Peter started to argue. But then again... would he know that? The version of him that got left/sent back home didn't know that he was here so if this had happened before then he wouldn't know, would he?

"Unless I had and don't remember it," he concluded, plopping himself down on the seat behind the woman. For some reason that was a bit of a breaking point- an entire life he had lived and hadn't known about. "But it's nice to meet you again, Midge. I'm Peter Parker. Still."

[ Mickey is on patrol - but in a place as BIG as Folkmore, it's difficult to go everywhere in one day! So, little by little, he tries to travel to new places so he can memorize everything better. All while being on the look-out for danger and bad guys! No distractions!

Hup-two-three-four. Hup-two-three-four. Hup-two-ISTHATADOG

Mickey stops in his tracks abruptly - he nearly trips over himself! As he misses Pluto deeply, seeing this good pupper is a treat! He's so overwhelmed with DOG that he doesn't even notice the magic painting. who cares cause DOG!!! DOG!!!!

He happily begins running over, though he manages to slow down to a stop nearby, tail wagging a bit in glee. Does it have a collar? Does he have the noble duty of returning the dog to its owner? ]

Hey there! Aren't you a sight!

"Loved a good escape room back home," He smiles a little, "This place can take things to extremes, but this is kind of fun," He nods.

Tommy reaches out and takes Peter's hand, "Tommy, Tommy Kinard," he smiles a little, "Wish we were meeting in less odd circumstances," He laughs a little.

"Where are you from?"

“It’s happened before,” she says. Some people return with memories of this place, some people don’t. So far, Midge hasn’t found any rhyme or reason in it.

She turns to look at him, offering him her hand. “Midge Maisel. It’s nice to meet you too.” Again. “Do you know where you’re going right now or is being on this train the first thing you remember?”

Future Gohan | Dragon Ball | Legend

(( ooc: This Future Gohan in particular is an alternate of Future Gohan. For those of you familiar with Dragon Ball, he's specifically from Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultra God Mission. He comes from a timeline where he was the lone survivor instead of Trunks, and things somehow got even worse. Yes, SDBH is very silly, and no, I will not apologize for playing from it.

Joking aside, this is my first time trying out this particular version of Future Gohan, and I'm looking forward to fleshing him out. He can also sense energy, so if your character is super strong in a spiritual sense, lemme know if that's something you'd like him to notice. Will match brackets or prose, just doing an OOC top level first so I can post both prompts separately. Because I only have one written and I'll likely write the other later on but I don't wanna forget to post the first one lmao ))

We All Had Detective Fantasies As Kids

[personal profile] lamentingly 2024-12-16 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
... Huh. I always wanted to solve a mystery...

[ It left his lips before he could even think about keeping it to himself. And honestly, the fact that that was the first thought that came to his mind almost made the one-armed fighter chuckle. He was so used to being in dire situations, to having to stay on his guard to survive, to being on the defensive at any and all times...

So imagine his surprise, to end up somewhere like this. On some kind of train, full of... animals? Plants? Beings, that were all enthusiastically playing out some kind of mystery. It looked like something straight out of a storybook, really. Whimsical, if he had to ascribe a word to it.

It looked like the kind of thing he would've fantasize about when he was younger. Before... well, everything. ]

Alright, let's take a look...

[ To his credit, he wasn't calling out the bad acting, or the snickers and giggles here and there. It was obvious they were enthusiastic about this, and Gohan of all people wasn't gonna be the one to ruin their fun. No, if anything, he was gonna play along, the man's bemused smile changing into what looked like genuine(?) curiosity. Because oh no, what's this? A terrible mystery is afoot!

He took a knee by the dead(?) body, eyes narrowing as he scrutinized the scene of the crime. His hand reaching out to the red liquid that was spilled on the floor, and rubbing it over his fingers, inspecting it closely. Without missing a beat, and still looking plenty serious, he brought it to his nose, gave it a sniff. Then, his tongue slipped out and he gave it a light taste. ]

Blood...

[ It was ketchup. ]

Alright, everyone! [ He quickly rose to his feet, decidedly ignoring the chuckles that the dead(?) body was trying to stifle. Instead, turning to the rest of the room, and pointing to the gathered crowd. ] I don't know who did it, but somewhere in this room, there's a murderer! [ Gasps from the crowd! Gohan had to force down a grin. ] So from this point on, no one comes in, and no one gets out! Not until we get to the bottom of this mystery!

First, I need to know what you were doing during the time of the murder! Let's start with you! [ Oh no, is the grown man who is having way too much fun playing detective pointing at you? Oh geez. Oh dear. ]
