Somehow, there is kirin on you.
Most likely, it is the fur of the kirin that was caught in the environment of wherever you’ve been; there is a stray hair on you because one was on the seat you sat on upon the train or because it blew onto the brim of your hat in the wind.
Or it may be because you met the kirin—a playful ungulate moose-sized spirit who prefers not to speak—and engaged with him and gave him a pat, or a scratch behind an ear. Maybe the kirin nosed or licked your hand because you made him laugh (it’s an adorable ‘keh keh keh’ sound).
Unfortunately for both you and the kirin (who had not meant to trouble your day like this, truly), this exposure to his dander has only one reaction, and it happens to 100% of Star Children: you are compelled to tell the entire truth. About what is less specific; you are compelled simply to announce things about yourself—your life, experiences, thoughts, opinions, feelings. No matter if it’s something silly and inconsequential, deep or secretive, life-altering or commonplace. Some may choose to do this by employing Foxi and their relic; others by finding people to exchange truth with to face to face.
When you have met the kirin’s subconscious desire for four hours, you will be free from the truth telling and the recipient of 24 hours of good luck. The good luck will be sometime in the next year rather than in the next day, and you may have no idea where it came from, but you’ll know a lucky day when you have it!

I feel it’s some manner of karma, given how often I’ve complained about this place lacking any respect to privacy. At least my thoughts were kept to myself before.

You're used to your masks, Zechs. Hell, you might only know yourself with a mask on, and if you put a new one on to be better, it's not going to feel any different than the others. It won't feel like you yet. —at least that's how it worked for me.

I had once worn a mask, literally. That point does not seem relevant because you were speaking metaphorically, yet it's another ridiculous tidbit I feel compelled to type.
Nevertheless, I appreciate your advice, which is in the same vein as that which has been given by others; but is no less valuable. You reinforce the path I should be taking in order to embark on any self-improvement.

I believe it helped all too well, to the point where I am not certain if there is anything left which remains which was not a part of the personas I've embodied at various points in my war. But I also recognize that idea is foolish. Because - it is both reassuring and also disheartening to think on this fact; that the mask was not an entirely different person, but simply a violent facet within me from birth.

Each mask contains a piece of you, Zechs, and you've got to do the work to discover which parts you want to keep, and which ones no longer serve you. That violent facet, though? That's within everyone at birth. Some people just get to live a life where it's never uncovered or needed.
