I'd have actually killed my father instead of letting my brother talk me out of it. That or chosen to die when my parents made the choice to alter our lives out of their own fear.

If your father deserved to die, it's the coward's way out to choose to die yourself and leave everyone else to suffer instead.

The problem being that one change would alter more lives than it would save in the long run, as much as I would have preferred to be left mortal and free of the fear of my father./span>

How many lives would it save, both immediately and down the line? How many would it cost? Can you truly calculate that with certainty over a thousand years of history?

I can't really imagine it would cost more lives than our existence cost both directly and by association.

Then should the fox grant you the opportunity, perhaps you will take it.

I mean, we did finally kill them both for the final time recently, which is a relief.

But I still can't help wonder if it would have been better had we stayed human.

What was the point in leaving humanity behind? You mentioned being forced.

I mean, we're still human technically, but no longer mortal. It didn't make us better people, it made us more vicious, petty, cruel. We handled it different ways, obviously, but our regard for the lives of others did suffer.

She claimed it was to ensure our survival. But the truth was she sold my older sister to our aunt to allow her to have more children, and then told our father she had died. Had my mother not cursed us, my aunt would have taken the first child of her bloodline in every generation to continue powering herself.

With the curse, she only had my older sister.

As someone who sacrificed the chance to have children for his goals, Jedao knows how hard that can be. To expect every child to do so is unrealistic.

Given that any other path would had led to her admitting to the lie she told my father and had my oldest brother aid her in, telling him the truth would have cost her more than she was willing to sacrifice.

So she sacrificed us, instead.

That paints a vivid portrait, for someone I have never met.

It is not my place to judge, but I judge her all the same.

She deserves all the judgment for her decisions. I will never understand why a mother would choose to do the things she's done to her own children.

Perhaps she will come here or some trial will show you greater insight. All I know is that people are people, greatly varied, so that very little can be said universally about what a mother would or would not do, the same as any other person.

I don't want to see her again.

But you're right, there's no way to know.

Not unless Thirteen does something here. You never know what might happen in Folkmore.

If that does happen, I might come find you and hit you.
