[Altair hadn't been to Amrita Academy yet. He already knew how to survive on his own but he was drawn to the school by the shooting stars, and the new arrivals they represented. This little survival game wasn't bad but it was annoying how the cubes were twice as hard to catch on your own than with a partner. Not that he was surprised. Thirteen loved to force everyone to work together. Still he was stubborn and he decided to play the game a bit differently. He laid in wait in a carefully chosen tree where there was a lot of foot traffic. He used his shadow magic to make the natural shadows he hid inside darker.
Sure enough his trap worked and he silently watched as Rose chased the cube into his tree. Just a little closer. He watched in amusement when she switched to tossing stones at the cube instead.
