Pandora's Fox II

PANDORA'S FOX II

If you were here last June, do you remember that app that appeared on the relics then, Pandora's Fox? It's all about finding your Familiar bond. It's been available for people to use since every Star Child was forced to fill it out or have it filled out for them with its grand reveal. However, it's sat quietly in the background unobtrusive to those who didn't click to see what it was about.

Until now.

That's right, Pandora's Fox is back! (and with a makeover). The app has been rejiggered with old questions and new, including some specific to each Role! The app will buzz and open itself with a blank profile waiting to be filled out. Star Children can fill it out for themselvesโ€”as long as they don't lie. This app will not allow Star Children to lie. Honesty is important in a Familiar bond. Star Children who lie may find that answer filled in a little too honestly and unable to be deleted. Anyone who waits too long to fill it in will find it answered for them!

Familiar bonds come in all different shapes and sizes, so find the right person for you!

This is game canon!

Forms for your characters!

I do hear autobiographies are good for sorting out one's life, though you have to be careful, memories aren't always accurate! [ In her experience, at least. But, then again, she's playing a part in a story, which sometimes means her past and knowledge have to change with it! ]

If you're ever looking for an editor, I've got experience!

They aren't. In fact every time you share a memory, you rewrite it in your mind. That's something I read. What you think happened no longer is the truth. The mind is incredible that way. It's so easy to lie to ourselves.

[ Inanna considers it. They've talked about Valentine some with Viktor. It helped, but it'd be different to write about it and to share that with a broader audience. Back home, at least, that'd undoubtedly be one of the top parts of their story people would be interested in. That and their "death" as it were. ]

I will keep you in mind. It's a major undertaking to write a book of any sort.

And that's why I keep a diary. [ ...because that would clearly stop her from lying to herself.]

Oh, I know! My most recent piece of fiction is almost 200 pages and we've only just gotten to the moment where the main character finds out that the writer's evil twin brother is a werewolf! —oh my god, my readers might be waiting a while for the next chapter.

An excellent way to capture the immediate events and emotional frame of mind. Reflection can give us greater insight, but we can always reference a diary for the details. Have you read many autobiographies? I'm always amazed at authors reconstructing whole conversations and often wondered how many had them recorded in some way versus it roughly being what was said, true in spirit if not the words.

You release it chapter by chapter? That feels both old school, thrilling, and terrifying. Never able to go back and edit what you've already written. I understand the people who post their WIPs on ao3, but I was always a completionist myself, no matter how long my fic.

Oh, no, I find most autobiographies boring.

I feel like releasing chapter by chapter keeps me motivated! Plus, I am a total sucker for kudos and comments. Do you still write while you're here?

They're the stories we tell ourselves and tell others. They say as much about how the person sees themselves as who they are, and they provide insight into the times they're from. I always take them with a grain of salt because we're all human. There's also an interesting difference between a memoir and an autobiography. It's different when you aren't trying to tell a whole story. We all have what interests us, and it isn't the same.

That all makes complete sense. People expecting more from you provides an external force. I haven't written much here. It always feels like there's a chance someone from your fandoms turns out to be real and show up here.

All stories are real somewhere. I don't think I'd be upset if I found out someone was writing fic about me. [ Is what Alan Wake does considered RPF? There's something a bit titillating about the idea of Alan thinking of her as he writes. He'd be considering her choices, thinking about what would be IC for her after all these years... ]

But you could always do a bit of a facelift and change names around. That's fairly popular. I can't tell you how many Reylo fics have been turned into novels.

Oh people have written fic about me. I don't read it, but I'm not hurt by it. I was busy living my life, and it's not like they showed it to me. Even then, I don't know, I could give them some concrit if I were out of character. [ Technically, even if the gods Inanna wrote about were dead and gone, that's RPF too. Not their only fandom, but still. ]

Somewhere along the way they become their own characters. If they were too much like Reylo in canon [ Inanna doesn't recognize the ship name. ] it wouldn't work on its own. Besides, once it becomes a novel, you have to show the characterization for everyone not a Reylo fan picking it up or it falls flat. The best fics demonstrate that already.

I'd be touched if someone showed me a fic with me in it! Ooh, and fanart! [ She is painfully deep into fandom. ]

Oh, I agree! I might not have liked 50 Shades much—I wasn't the target audience—but she made those characters her own.

I would really want to see cosplay. My heart to cosplay. [ Gods cheat and snap their fingers. Cosplayers have to work at it. That makes it far more impressive. ]

Exactly. Not my fandom in either case, but an excellent example. They really aren't the same characters. In a way not wholly unlike the gods. Each Recurrence is their own.

I didn't even think about cosplay! Oh, but I don't think I'm interesting enough for that. But I do love seeing people dress up in those elaborate RPG costumes!

Ah— Recurrence? Are the gods reborn where you're from?

Do not forget the Japanese tradition to dress absolutely mundanely for Halloween. In the same spirit, anyone can be worth cosplaying. Anyone with a a signature look all the more so. It's incredible fun to make costumes.

Yes, the cycle every ninety years in which the gods reappear. For over six thousand years, the gods appeared on that cycle somewhere in the world, and within two years, they died. We'd just broken that cycle before I came here.

The more you know. You can always do it yourself.

They end. Stories are over when they end. That's how we stopped the cycle. We stopped the story. [ If someone can look at their life in that meta a way, it makes clear obvious sense. It's harder when living it. ]
