Truth Meme

Somehow, there is kirin on you.
Most likely, it is the fur of the kirin that was caught in the environment of wherever you’ve been; there is a stray hair on you because one was on the seat you sat on upon the train or because it blew onto the brim of your hat in the wind.
Or it may be because you met the kirin—a playful ungulate moose-sized spirit who prefers not to speak—and engaged with him and gave him a pat, or a scratch behind an ear. Maybe the kirin nosed or licked your hand because you made him laugh (it’s an adorable ‘keh keh keh’ sound).
Unfortunately for both you and the kirin (who had not meant to trouble your day like this, truly), this exposure to his dander has only one reaction, and it happens to 100% of Star Children: you are compelled to tell the entire truth. About what is less specific; you are compelled simply to announce things about yourself—your life, experiences, thoughts, opinions, feelings. No matter if it’s something silly and inconsequential, deep or secretive, life-altering or commonplace. Some may choose to do this by employing Foxi and their relic; others by finding people to exchange truth with to face to face.
When you have met the kirin’s subconscious desire for four hours, you will be free from the truth telling and the recipient of 24 hours of good luck. The good luck will be sometime in the next year rather than in the next day, and you may have no idea where it came from, but you’ll know a lucky day when you have it!

The first time definitely counts. I was in a battle where I recovered from dying? Repeatedly? Like, that should be it, done dead as a door nail, but noooooope. We're still in this sticky gut-filled gory battlefield and going at it with the undead space wasps as large as you or me. It's less exciting than it sounds. More horrible grunting noises.
It's the only one I've been to, but I'm good here. No need to shop around.
Yep. Nine Houses. We're the Ninth.

That sounds both disgusting and rather impressive at the same time. Also intensely unpleasant, dying repeatedly only to keep fighting undead space bugs. I swear space battles always seem more exciting in theory than they end up being. Did you win against them eventually?
I wouldn't recommend shopping around anyway, you usually just end up finding a lot of dystopias.

It was a whole ass awkward situation. Lost a thumb only for it to grow back. That was my first sign. For a given definition of win? They didn't get us, so that's something. They weren't the main problem, and I wasn't involved in that. Something something scared it away or whatever.
Given how many shitty worlds people come from here, I am not surprised.

At least it grew back? Missing a thumb seems like it'd be inconvenient for sword fighting. I'll usually settle for the 'they didn't get us' definition of win. Some situations are just a take whatever you can get sort of thing. You sound like you lead quite the life though

It's sure preferable to dying. Someone died, but given I'd never really met him, it's hard to feel too torn up about it. The only time I thought I talked to him, it wasn't even him. Believe it or not, most my life was fairly boring. It just got exciting in the last year or so.
no subject
Fair. People can't expend all their energy being torn up about every death that happens. That has to be a swing to go from boring to all of that in a year or so. Do you miss the boring at all?
no subject
No, I do not miss the boring. I don't miss that life. It hardly feels like living. Ironic when I'll be unalive in the future.
no subject
Irony is evidently the spice of life.
no subject
Damn, and here I thought it was puns.
no subject
Fair point. Puns do come first. Do you have a favorite?

I could never choose between my children. I love them equally. Also known as it changes all the time. Usually the last one I've thought of.

You mean ask on the network? That might be a decent idea to get a sample pool of how things went and if there have ever been any catches.
That's fair. I'd ask for one now but I don't want to put you on the spot.
no subject
Network works. We gotta spread the lore somehow.
As soon as someone asks for a pun, suddenly none exist. None have ever existed. None will ever exist in the universe. It's how that goes.

In essence it's something that would be done to everyone else as well as my companion, tampering with all of our minds to forget him while also killing him.
He also used my memories of certain events to judge that this sort of punishment was justified to enact, which I'm rather pissed about. He can be a dick, both of them can be, but I know they were just trying to do what they thought was best for me.
Perhaps I'll post and ask one night when I'm particularly bored and low on lore.
Isn't it?

I'm just grateful I was able to break him out and bargain with an Ogre for an antidote before the process took.

Glad that worked out. Eesh.

But all of those things are hard to do.
