Somehow, there is kirin on you.

Most likely, it is the fur of the kirin that was caught in the environment of wherever you’ve been; there is a stray hair on you because one was on the seat you sat on upon the train or because it blew onto the brim of your hat in the wind.

Or it may be because you met the kirin—a playful ungulate moose-sized spirit who prefers not to speak—and engaged with him and gave him a pat, or a scratch behind an ear. Maybe the kirin nosed or licked your hand because you made him laugh (it’s an adorable ‘keh keh keh’ sound).

Unfortunately for both you and the kirin (who had not meant to trouble your day like this, truly), this exposure to his dander has only one reaction, and it happens to 100% of Star Children: you are compelled to tell the entire truth. About what is less specific; you are compelled simply to announce things about yourself—your life, experiences, thoughts, opinions, feelings. No matter if it’s something silly and inconsequential, deep or secretive, life-altering or commonplace. Some may choose to do this by employing Foxi and their relic; others by finding people to exchange truth with to face to face.

When you have met the kirin’s subconscious desire for four hours, you will be free from the truth telling and the recipient of 24 hours of good luck. The good luck will be sometime in the next year rather than in the next day, and you may have no idea where it came from, but you’ll know a lucky day when you have it!

Well, you're a truer knight than any in the Seven Kingdoms, so the Order would be wrong.

I mean, that's not a way of being down on myself. I don't think. I'm not saying they would have kicked me out, or anything. There were other roles in the Order; I might just have been better suited for them.

Or I might have kicked myself out and gone back to Lothal.

I thought Jedi Knights could do as they please. It's not as if you're always fighting, or riding in tourneys. I should hate for you to have a different title. Knight is so gallant, and it would be much harder to explain to people from my realm. I know you will be a great Master some day, but I will be sorry when I can't call you a Knight anymore.

I mean, in theory yes, a Knight had choices in missions, was never expected to follow orders blindly, and can always simply resign it's not the path they want to remain on. In reality, there's reasons most of the Knights in the Clone Wars died on the front lines of a war I'm pretty sure most of them completely loathed.

The title is that important to you, huh?

I don't know if it's important. I just like it best. I didn't know the healers and temple folk were called something else.

Most of our soldiers did other things when we weren't at war. That's why Cregan Stark wouldn't march until the last harvest was in. I wish I could tell him I'm sorry for making friends with Prince Aemond. I light a candle for Jacerys and Lucerys, but it doesn't seem right for someone who kept the old faith alone.

To be fair, I think the titles have sort of varied of time.

I didn't realize you felt that bad about making friends with Aemond.

I don't feel very badly about it. That's what I'm sorry for. I couldn't be friends with anybody friends with Lord Bolton. I should hate for Prince Jacerys to come here and not want to be friends with me.

Wanting to save them is fine, by itself, actually. Why wouldn't I want to save them? If nothing else, they're people, too.

The problem is when wanting that - wanting anything, really - blinds you to other consequences, and you act on what you want, anyway.

My parents taught me about sacrifice before I ever met a Jedi.

They would agree. They chose to risk their lives, too, over and over.

Then they are better people than most. Jedi included.

Which part do you really want to know about? Fully explaining would take a lot of words ,which is fine but maybe you don't want to read all that.

Short version of the most likely confusing part: time portal...thing. Unclear exactly what would have happened if I'd used it, but someone tried really hard to convince me I could rewrite my life and get my parents back.

The Empire I lived under took them away when I was seven, for being Rebels and speaking out. And killed them eventually, after I became a Rebel.

What if getting them back undid everything we worked and sacrificed for?

The guy trying to convince me to go for it was the Emperor himself. A dude who is cool with ordering entire peoples and planets enslaved or destroyed.

I'd have been nuts to take his word for it and potentially hand him some kind of control over TIME ITSELF in the process.
