Somehow, there is kirin on you.

Most likely, it is the fur of the kirin that was caught in the environment of wherever you’ve been; there is a stray hair on you because one was on the seat you sat on upon the train or because it blew onto the brim of your hat in the wind.

Or it may be because you met the kirin—a playful ungulate moose-sized spirit who prefers not to speak—and engaged with him and gave him a pat, or a scratch behind an ear. Maybe the kirin nosed or licked your hand because you made him laugh (it’s an adorable ‘keh keh keh’ sound).

Unfortunately for both you and the kirin (who had not meant to trouble your day like this, truly), this exposure to his dander has only one reaction, and it happens to 100% of Star Children: you are compelled to tell the entire truth. About what is less specific; you are compelled simply to announce things about yourself—your life, experiences, thoughts, opinions, feelings. No matter if it’s something silly and inconsequential, deep or secretive, life-altering or commonplace. Some may choose to do this by employing Foxi and their relic; others by finding people to exchange truth with to face to face.

When you have met the kirin’s subconscious desire for four hours, you will be free from the truth telling and the recipient of 24 hours of good luck. The good luck will be sometime in the next year rather than in the next day, and you may have no idea where it came from, but you’ll know a lucky day when you have it!

I'd have to test that to see. Merlyn's pure magic and has always had some ability to protect himself. Unfortunately.

I don't really want to test it out, but I'll stock up on materia to use in case you snap and need somebody to take you out. Probably should do that anyway, I doubt you're the only OP person here

Saying you're jealous because only some of my world got burned down is shitty but I get it

Materia is equipment that lets people cast magic. Its not super easy to use but it's way easier than trying to learn the magic they got here

It is shitty, you're right. Even if I might like to dress it up as 'looking on a minor bright side'. I am sorry though. I hope the losses you may have endured in that burning down were as minimal as they could be.

My losses were max. He killed my mom and burned down my village. Destroyed a lot of other shit, killed a lot of folks and ruined people's lives and ALMOST the entire Planet, but he didn't so I guess it's not as bad as it could've been. I also don't want to tell you about how materia works since that seems pretty counter to me being able to kill you if you go nuts on us but here we go

Materia can do damn near anything. most common types are element magic; fire, ice, earth, that sort of thing. there's augmenting types of materia that can support more offensive spells and enhance your own abilities. make you stronger or hardier, make it so you can cast more magic before you get tired. there's materia that can make you move faster or other people slower or stop them totally. barrier materia that can protect you from hard hits or magic. rare shit that can change people's shape or turn monsters into things you can use. REALLY rare shit that can summons old gods to kill for you but i dunno if it'd work here. then there's materia that'll literally kill or save the Planet but I'm pretty sure I'D never be able to use it

I don't see it as a pity party, but I do feel awful for making you think of any of that. I'd ignore it if I could. Honestly, after suffering that much I can see why thinking on the bright side would be hard. It's certainly fair to not even see it as that much of a consolation prize. I don't always see the bright side when I think about the fact that I saved the world. Not when I also remember that it cost me my brother and the love of my life.

This really is the worst. I wonder if I could break my own relic completely to stop it.

I don't have every power because I've got like three underdeveloped materia here and jack all else. All my good shit is back home and it costs a billion gil just to get one of them here

Very much. They remind me of my older brother. We used to have hounds growing up that we'd take on hunts with us. I think all of the hounds liked him best out of all of us. Which is fine, I liked him best too.
