Somehow, there is kirin on you.

Most likely, it is the fur of the kirin that was caught in the environment of wherever you’ve been; there is a stray hair on you because one was on the seat you sat on upon the train or because it blew onto the brim of your hat in the wind.

Or it may be because you met the kirin—a playful ungulate moose-sized spirit who prefers not to speak—and engaged with him and gave him a pat, or a scratch behind an ear. Maybe the kirin nosed or licked your hand because you made him laugh (it’s an adorable ‘keh keh keh’ sound).

Unfortunately for both you and the kirin (who had not meant to trouble your day like this, truly), this exposure to his dander has only one reaction, and it happens to 100% of Star Children: you are compelled to tell the entire truth. About what is less specific; you are compelled simply to announce things about yourself—your life, experiences, thoughts, opinions, feelings. No matter if it’s something silly and inconsequential, deep or secretive, life-altering or commonplace. Some may choose to do this by employing Foxi and their relic; others by finding people to exchange truth with to face to face.

When you have met the kirin’s subconscious desire for four hours, you will be free from the truth telling and the recipient of 24 hours of good luck. The good luck will be sometime in the next year rather than in the next day, and you may have no idea where it came from, but you’ll know a lucky day when you have it!

No. Telekinesis is the ability to move matter with your mind. Psychic is a general term for mental powers. The ones that would knock people out or worse are my telepathy. The ability to manipulate another person's mind.

Very powerful. Those more skillful than I would have to stop you.

I wouldn't want someone to try too hard and get hurt anyway.

What skills do you have?

I am trained in the classical performing arts as former samurai and geisha but my true talent lies in killing people.

I don't like to do this. I am not particularly murderous. Though I suppose that doesn't matter.

Why would you think it doesn't matter?

Having a talent for killing people doesn't necessarily mean you want to be doing that. Sometimes we're forced into that role.

Because reputation follows you. And fighters often believe they have something to prove. Even here, where I am not known. [Legit the first day she pulled her weapon out some girl challenged her to a fight.]

But you are correct. In my world I had precious few choices. My first choice was frowned upon even more.

You can just ignore them. It's what I would do with most here.

I'm sorry, it's a bit like that in my own world for me. The lack of choices. At leas you're here now, so you could pursue that first choice.

Here people are more polite and take no for an answer. But it's tedious to have that conversation often. My first choice was not a good one either, and I'm glad neither is necessary here. Instead, I'm learning how to paint and make wind chimes.

A few points in this place's favor. I understand though, there's a few conversations I've found to be increasingly tedious here.

I had a dear friend who was an artist, I loved seeing his work. Perhaps I could see yours sometime.

I would hope by the time you see any I will have improved greatly. I am very much an amateur when it comes to painting.

I do, very much. The last time I sang was a long time ago. My partner arranged to have me sing with an accomplished pianist on a date.

That sounds like a lovely thing to do for you. That's a player of piano, correct? I'm not very familiar.

He did a lot of lovely over the top things like that. It wasn't even the grandest gesture he ever made.

It is unfamiliar. I come from what you call Japan in the 18th century.

Very much so. It has certainly been a learning experience. I believe the train was the hardest to adjust to.

I'm lucky I don't really have to use it. Have you grown to enjoy it now? Or is it still something you're adjusting to?

I have grown to tolerate it. A friend introduced me to headphones, and music on headphones. It helps immensely.

That was an excellent suggestion on their part. What have you enjoyed listening to?

I haven't explored very far, I must say. There are some instrumental pieces from my own country, for the most part. I know some music is not exactly what I would call 'music' these days, I don't want to startle myself. Do you have any suggestions? I meant to ask Natasha, but I never remember.

I can send you some things I enjoy listening to when I want to relax. I also found the music of a friend of mine from home here, but she's got a more modern sound. Pop.
