Truth Meme

Somehow, there is kirin on you.
Most likely, it is the fur of the kirin that was caught in the environment of wherever you’ve been; there is a stray hair on you because one was on the seat you sat on upon the train or because it blew onto the brim of your hat in the wind.
Or it may be because you met the kirin—a playful ungulate moose-sized spirit who prefers not to speak—and engaged with him and gave him a pat, or a scratch behind an ear. Maybe the kirin nosed or licked your hand because you made him laugh (it’s an adorable ‘keh keh keh’ sound).
Unfortunately for both you and the kirin (who had not meant to trouble your day like this, truly), this exposure to his dander has only one reaction, and it happens to 100% of Star Children: you are compelled to tell the entire truth. About what is less specific; you are compelled simply to announce things about yourself—your life, experiences, thoughts, opinions, feelings. No matter if it’s something silly and inconsequential, deep or secretive, life-altering or commonplace. Some may choose to do this by employing Foxi and their relic; others by finding people to exchange truth with to face to face.
When you have met the kirin’s subconscious desire for four hours, you will be free from the truth telling and the recipient of 24 hours of good luck. The good luck will be sometime in the next year rather than in the next day, and you may have no idea where it came from, but you’ll know a lucky day when you have it!

What could you have done to not deserve it?

I had to kill my older brother. My twin is less than pleased with the choice and method.
no subject
If you had to, you had to. Better than leading him into danger none of you were prepared for, only to have him killed.
no subject
It was a choice between killing him or having him continue to destroy multiverse after multiverse. That's an oddly specific example you gave, has that happened to you?
no subject
Then you had no choice at all.
It did. After my Mother and Sisters were slaughtered, I was taken in by...cousins I suppose. Same people, but our religious lives are quite different, we didn't intermingle. I led a small party back to my village, to recover weapons and supplies, and we were ambushed. They had no combat experience, and despite my efforts their Matron's daughter was killed. We were Sisters, and friends. I was abandoned after in the ruins with my dead.

No, I didn't. My twin doesn't quite see it that way. He wouldn't make the choice in the moment, so I had to for him.
That sounds rather harsh to abandon you for that. How could you have possibly known you would be ambused?

Resenting you for your strength. Sadly far too common male in most species.
She saw me as a bad influence.

I can't entirely disagree there. Someone had to make the hard decision, I suppose it's for the best it were me. It's just regrettable he can't see it from my perspective. Though he rarely can.
Were you a bad influence?

A shame. Siblings shouldn't be so divided.
I don't believe so. I didn't want the Sisters who had rescued me to be subject to the fate of my clan. But there are reasons we so rarely interacted I suppose.

We've always had our differences. My twin prioritizes our father's legacy and protecting Otherworld. I've chosen to prioritize my own people's safety for the time being. And our older brother has always fluctuated between being a villain for us to deal with or the older brother I grew up worshiping. It's complicated.
I couldn't blame you for not wanting them to be subject to the fate of your clan. I would probably do anything myself to make certain I didn't see that repeat again.
no subject
That does make it complicated. But you are able to see his side of it, and he isn't willing to see yours?
That was all I wanted. Still is, really. Some of my kin are here and it's been more wonderful than anything I've experienced in decades.
no subject
Or just unable to. He wants me to join him on his side of things, thinks it would be for my own good. He hasn't approved of a lot of my decisions lately.
I'm happy to hear you're getting that chance. One thing this place seems to be good for is giving a number of people a second chance with their kin. One they wouldn't have gotten back home.
