Somehow, there is kirin on you.

Most likely, it is the fur of the kirin that was caught in the environment of wherever you’ve been; there is a stray hair on you because one was on the seat you sat on upon the train or because it blew onto the brim of your hat in the wind.

Or it may be because you met the kirin—a playful ungulate moose-sized spirit who prefers not to speak—and engaged with him and gave him a pat, or a scratch behind an ear. Maybe the kirin nosed or licked your hand because you made him laugh (it’s an adorable ‘keh keh keh’ sound).

Unfortunately for both you and the kirin (who had not meant to trouble your day like this, truly), this exposure to his dander has only one reaction, and it happens to 100% of Star Children: you are compelled to tell the entire truth. About what is less specific; you are compelled simply to announce things about yourself—your life, experiences, thoughts, opinions, feelings. No matter if it’s something silly and inconsequential, deep or secretive, life-altering or commonplace. Some may choose to do this by employing Foxi and their relic; others by finding people to exchange truth with to face to face.

When you have met the kirin’s subconscious desire for four hours, you will be free from the truth telling and the recipient of 24 hours of good luck. The good luck will be sometime in the next year rather than in the next day, and you may have no idea where it came from, but you’ll know a lucky day when you have it!

That is incredibly flattering, and while a stranger's compliment isn't that likely to persuade me - you are my friend, and you can sway me. [ A bit chagrined, because really? Praise him and he'll do as he asks, is that what he's essentially saying? ] I feel as if you're already armed with far too much ammunition against me, but here we are.

[ And then a small wince. ] I wasn't thinking specifically of myself - but I was thinking other soldiers were likely to behave as I've done, so perhaps the distinction is meaningless. I can't tell you why this has been a difficulty for me, but it's something I've been aware of long since before I arrived here.

I quite enjoy swaying you, Zechs, and I try not to push too much. I enjoy the parts of you that are solid and unyielding, that makes it all the more gratifying that you're willing to bend for me some of the time.

We could dance in private. If it's truly something you have avoided, I want to watch you learn something new. To admire your skill not only for its elegance when mastered, but the speed at which you can achieve it.

[That is so ridiculously sappy, Quattro can't handle it. It's sheer force of will that keeps him from trying to hide his face again.]

And I trust that you won't attempt to push past where I won't yield. It would not work, and I would lose some of my respect for you. [ Perfectly blunt again. He sighed. ] I would at least be far more polite than this curse would dictate.

[ There's another small blush. ] It is not as if I do not know how to dance as an entire category - but I doubt these escapades at the river involve the formal movements I'm familiar with. You do have me square in your sights, it seems, enticing me with learning something new. I want to show you how quickly I can pick up such a skill.

So, yes. I would learn how to dance informally without appearing entirely foolish with you.

There's a part of me that likes the idea of such an impossible sounding challenge, but I value your friendship much more than the fleeting thrill of success.

You'd make a delightful figure performing the waltz or tango, I wouldn't mind a more traditional and structured dance with you. The style at the river was new to me as well- the dance floors where I'm from, the more informal ones have a very particular style to them.

Zechs, I find it hard to imagine you appearing foolish even if you tried. That's a competition you would certainly lose.
