This Test Drive meme is open to all.
Welcome to Folkmore's monthly Test Drive Meme! Please feel free to test drive any and all characters regardless of your intent to apply or whether you have an invite or not.

All TDMs are game canon and work like "mini-events". For new players and characters, you can choose to have your TDM thread be your introduction thread upon acceptance or start fresh. Current players are also allowed to have in-game characters post to the TDM so long as they mark their top levels ‘Current Character.’

TDM threads can be used for spoon spending at any time by characters accepted into the game.

Playing and interacting with the TDMs will allow characters to immediately obtain canon items from homes especially weapons or other things they may have had on their person when they were pulled from their worlds! There will always be a prompt that provides some sort of "reward" to characters who complete certain tasks.

Current players are always encouraged to tag new people on the TDM!


🦊 New Star Children meet the Fox still in their worlds, and she brings them into the new realm of Folkmore. As you follow her, your body begins to change and new characteristics emerge. These may stay for a while, or perhaps they will hide away after. And during all of this, the Fox explains to you where you will be going: to Folkmore.

and then... you fall like a shooting star, falling to the land in a burst of starlight.


🦊 Experienced Star Children are already familiar with this time of the month. There are shooting stars all across the sky, and some fall to the land, which means the Fox has brought new arrivals. These newly arrived Star Children will face some tests, but Thirteen wants the more seasoned residents to participate as well.

Perhaps you follow the falling stars on your own, or perhaps the Fox simply teleports you there, but it appears you too will be part of this.

Thirteen Knows What You Did Last Summer . ★

Content Warnings: School Detention, Time Not Passing, Forced Reflection/Confession, Potential Violence

Welcome to detention. Star Children, whether they're new arrivals to Folkmore or old hands, find themselves sitting at two person desks in a library. Perhaps there's only two Star Children, perhaps up to four or five. Regardless, each Star Child has a slip of paper in their hands which spells out why they are in detention, a secret detention slip no one else can read. Which, whew, because the reason any Star Child is in detention is for something they've never been punished for, something they might reasonably have thought they got away with, something they know was wrong.

The door to the library opens, and Kuma Lisa enters. She explains that Star Children will be in detention for four hours, and by the end of detention, they will need to reflect on what they did and express contrition. The headmistress gives no further guidance before leaving and closing the doors behind her.

Four hours is a notable chunk of time, but it's not so long, is it? Surely it's possible to wait it out without making good on the assignment… Or perhaps it's enough to write about it in one of the notebooks on the table in front of each student, without explaining it to another soul. Star Children are welcome to try whatever they want. However, they may notice an oddity with the clock. Namely, no matter how many times the second hand ticks around a circle to mark a whole minute, the minute and hour hands don't progress. It's the same minute over and over and over—

Detention is four hours, but how long four hours takes is entirely up to the Star Children in detention. Read every book in the library. Throw a dance party. Get high. Pull weapons out of the books. All matter of non-magical weapons. Nothing immediately happens upon pulling those weapons—no monsters to make detention less boring. Unless people make progress reflecting on their transgression, communicating about it with another Star Child, and showing penitence for it, time won't pass. Reality warps to stay in the same minute, minute after minute, hour after hour.

What's it going to be? Never ending detention or personal accountability?

However long it takes, it only takes four hours in the realm of Folkmore.

A word of warning to those who grabbed weapons, they will be attacked on their way home after detention. They will be attacked by creatures out of storybooks. Star Children will need to know the literary weaknesses of these creatures, good luck, or the help of someone else coming along who does know their weaknesses. At least there's some excitement in the day after four long long hours.

To Prank or to be Pranked . ★

Content Warnings: Theft, Glitter Bombs, Minor Power Nerfing

There's a problem with the nonexistent mail delivery system in Folkmore. Gifts are being delivered to residents' addresses—their correct addresses, even if they live in the woods—but those recipients, written on a fat cream label, cannot pick them up, teleport them, or otherwise move them under their own power. These gifts sit in garish and contrasting colors that make certain to draw attention to themselves. Hello, here they are.

Anyone else can pick these packages up, from the person next door to a stranger walking by. There's so many gifts around it's easy to pick one up, remove the label, and go on one's way. Few people are home all the time, and even if they are, what are they going to do? Pick it up themselves? Ha! It's free real estate. Star Children with abilities to see inside the packages can see something they want badly within as extra motivation to go for it.

When Star Children open their ill gotten gains, these packages explode in a glitter bomb that coats everyone within a ten foot radius. This glitter is impossible to wash out, magic away, or otherwise remove for twenty-four hours. Walk, swim, fly, or otherwise go about with glittery evidence of the crime committed.

Almost always. If it were guaranteed, where would the fun be in that?

The rare fortunate criminal or the original recipient, helped by another Star Child, will receive an item from home. This may even be a weapon or magical item. Those who receive an item will stop receiving gifts on their doorstep, whether they stole the gift or received it from a package addressed to them. They can keep stealing other people's gifts, but they will only receive a glitter bomb from then on.

Mischievous Star Children can even prank each other by changing the label and redelivering packages to someone else. Should that person get help to bring the gift inside, it still isn't their gift, not really, so it too will explode in glitter.

🦊 Almost all stolen gifts explode in a glitter bomb that leaves glitter for 24 hours.

Arrival

[Falling out of the sky had been bad enough.

Finding he has to re-learn, again, how to walk is even worse. Luke is as teenagers go remarkably athletic, with nothing else to do for most of his life besides exercise and practice and try not to go nuts from boredom. But having an entirely new limb has thrown him off completely, a good twenty pounds or more of flexible, moving weight with a mind of its own making everything from simply STANDING to walking suddenly very tricky.

In some sparsely forested patch of greenery, pretty much precisely where he'd landed (and hadn't that felt rather like a rehash of Tataroo Valley?), the young nobleman sways uncertainly, long spade-tipped tail doing its best to provide a counterbalance he's simply not used to, a spoon clutched in one thick-clawed hand, the relic-device still on the ground where he'd dropped it.

It is the source of the current problem. There's nothing about grace or ease in how he moves in trying to grab the thing without actually falling over, and it's not going well, overcompensating in a sudden lash of the new, unwanted limb to crack it against a bush or a sapling painfully and leading to a sudden mad scramble to find something to hang onto before tipping over. By the bits of twig and smudges of dirt, he's already gone over more than once. In the otherwise quiet patch of forest, his muttered string of curses aren't entirely intelligable, but the frustration is easily picked up on and heeds no language barrier. He's too annoyed to be afraid.

That .. that fox did this to him, turning him into some monster. When he figures out how to walk, he's going to find that creature and give it a piece of his mind--]


Detention

[Know what Luke's never been to? School. Sure he's had tutors, lots of tutors, most of which he spent ignoring them entirely, but things like classrooms, and libraries that aren't limited-access family heirlooms in their own right, are completely and utterly new. As is the red scaled spade-tipped tail, claws, sharp teeth and short black horns mostly hidden by his long vividly crimson hair. These he's almost gotten used to in the past while. Not so much, being assigned 'detention'.

Whatever that's supposed to be.

And what's with the stupid slip of paper? It's at least in fonic script, accusing him of abusing his station. HOW he was supposed to 'abuse his station' he didn't know, so he's ignoring it entirely.

Instead of sitting there and reflecting on what he's done, the displaced 'ambassador' prowls the bookshelves without actual intention of looking at any of the books, irritated and long, long since bored. Four hours? It feels like he's been here for days, he knows how clocks work! Never patient on a good day, by the shriek of frustration from somewhere in the History section and a soaring book flung back towards the desks, his has run out.]

What even is detention! I didn't do anything! What are all these stupid books for anyway?!

[A second book follows the first in a long, fluttering arc of paper.]

Luke does remember the lesson of Engeve in not just taking whatever he wants whenever he wants, because the manor will not in fact pay for any of it, but this one did have 'Luke' written on it.

Just not 'Luke fon Fabre'; it wasn't for him. He'd picked it up anyway, humming contentedly under his breath a mindless little tune he heard occasionally between flashes of migraine-induced agony, and headed for a nicer spot to open it and see what it might be. Anyone unfortunate enough to be nearby when it explodes may not escape the most contagious of craft items: sparkles.

Unfortunately.. if it's supposed to be a punishment, it is not tailored to someone like Luke. It hasn't really sunk in yet that the stuff doesn't come off easily. ... At all.

Covered head to toe in sparkles, he blinks several moments in surprise, then throws his hands skyward with a hoot of glee, snatches up "his" box and makes a beeline for the nearest next one, every move scattering more of the stuff everywhere. This is amazing!]

[ The sight of his unfortunate duplicate does make Asch pause (a safe distance away from the impending explosion). Last he had seen the idiot, his hair had been a lot shorter, to the point where he almost thought the "my hair grows fast" excuse he used when he didn't want to bother explaining he wasn't Luke was actually true. But then the glitter explosion happened, followed by the stupid hoots of glee, and Asch felt his irritation spike almost instantaneously. ]

[Dohalim is no stranger to self reflection. if anything, he might do it too much sometimes, but whether or not it's to better himself as a person, or to give himself censure for things that are out of his control... well, no one needs to know what goes on in his head, right? but perhaps that's why he's landed him here in detention. or, at least, that's what it hints on the slip of paper he's been given.

at least he can peruse the collection of reading material. or, at least, he had every intention to before a book whizzes towards his head; thankful for fast reflexes, Dohalim manages to catch it before it smacks him in the face. frowning, he looks down the aisle that the text had come from, and it becomes very clear who'd thrown it, judging by Luke's... expressed frustrations]

Well... For starters, books are generally meant for reading and not usually used as makeshift projectiles.

[ Considering Elena's friend group she's not entirely surprised to have someone asking about what detention is. She's also super duper used to dealing with difficult people who might favor demanding answers rather than just politely asking. She's so used to it in fact that she's even able to offer him a smile whether he wants it or not and an explanation! ]

In school detention's a form of punishment. Like skipping class or cheating or talking back. [ She shrugs ] Or sometimes just if a teacher didn't really like you. But I'm thinking that we're probably not all here for skipping class. That'd seem pretty unfair given the kinda kidnapping thing.

[Someone has been nearby watching. This someone is a man and one who recently arrived. Something drew him in this direction and when he found himself confronted with the display of Luke's endeavor to learn simple motor functions, he had watched for a little bit.

Feathers rustled in the breeze. Elidibus had adapted quickly to the changes; he's used to transformations and becoming accustomed to body parts not his natural own. And there was time during the walk over, besides.

The wings are four in number, hues of black, purple and reddish. Pricks of light glisten within them; like stars in a darkening night. Look closely and you might even see a faint lavender hued halo. But it is daytime. Maybe that's just a trick of the light.]

You seem to have some trouble keeping your feet. [ Elidibus is easy to understand. Whether the magic of the land or his own talent, who knows? ] And... that device you're trying to retrieve...

[Yes, he's been told about it by the Fox. And now here's another who seems unsteady on his feet and warped by their transition. ...Perhaps. Maybe it's too soon to judge, other than the notion that this is likely another of the Fox's 'Star Children'.]

Once Shadow has his target awakened and beginning to clamber out from beneath its bridge, Vergil hangs back to observe the carnage.

As much as it pains him to admit, there is a degree of efficiency in Shadow's approach with the troll. The troll doesn't manage to land a single hit or disrupt Shadow in any of his movements. But the technique doesn't leave Vergil entirely impressed. Rushing blindly into a fight without taking any time to ascertain his opponent's own techniques is a recipe for disaster if he happens to come across a monster with more intelligence and skill than a bridge troll.

"Impressive," Vergil says wryly, likely making it difficult to tell if it's a sincere compliment or not. "But one does wonder how you would fare against a more intelligent opponent than a troll you've disturbed from its nap."

Wesker grins, that rare genuine grin that doesn't look like he's about to bite someone's throat, and pulls Maul close in a firm hug hinting at that immense strength of his. "Maul... It's a delight to see you, as well," he says.

"So you also crossed paths with a talking fox in the woods?" he asks, holding his elder brother off to look him in the face.

The five handprints that had dotted Maul's skin for some time now still remained, faint shadowy marks showing his allegiance to the people who had become important in his life thanks to all that they had gone through together. (His precious people Usagi would have said.) He'd couldn't forget his brother, not after he'd had to do the horrible task of mercy-killing him, perhaps the first death in a long, long time he'd not been proud of.

"That I did. I wasn't happy to be pulled away from Trench." A shadow of sadness crossed his face at the thought of all those he'd left behind, even including his beloved pets. Then his face brightened once more. "But at least this place has not proven to be so terrible. Have you started terrorizing the populace yet?"

Zanth’s detention slip is extremely simple:

Murder.

To be honest, there are probably things they’d personally prefer people find out even less, but this is the one that probably makes them look the worst out of context.

They’ve also been trying very hard not to think about it—so thanks, irritating fox woman. Zanth was perfectly happy to simply not unpack the fact they’d killed someone for the first time shortly before getting here.

“Express contrition? What does that even… mean, exactly? I mean, I can’t exactly apologise to anyone who isn’t here. And I don’t suppose any of us can be tried for crimes from other dimensions.”

They say that like it’s a joke. Mostly. But that is the primary concern, all things considered.

To Prank Or Be Pranked

A] Zanth has been living here for a bit now, but she’s still surprised to find a package outside the door of her staff dorm in the School of Thoth; she hasn’t ordered anything recently, nor is there a return address let alone one from anyone she knows.

It’s even stranger when the package turns out to be… either incredibly heavy or some kind of illusion. She’s not quite sure which. But she is sure that it’s incredibly frustrating, not to mention kind of pointless seeming; they might change their mind if they knew they almost certainly want what’s in it.

“Do you know anything about this…?” She asks whoever happens to pass by.

B] Later, if they spot anyone else appearing to have the same problem, they’ll stop and clear their throat a bit awkwardly.

“You won’t be able to open the ones with your own name, it seems. I can… help, if you’d like.”

Possibly because she hasn’t realised most of them are full of glitter, yet. But for the moment, she may as well be helpful.

Maleficent has absolutely no idea what any of this is supposed to mean. Even with the explanation they were given she still finds the entire thing absurd. The reaction she had to reading her own slip was a very curt chuckle, as if she found it amusing that anyone should think she should feel bad for what was on it.

"It does seem rather...pointless, doesn't it? As you said, even if we felt oh so very terrible about our actions, how would we face real punishment here?"

New Star Child

( arriving in a splash of starlight! somewhere somebody must be laughing themselves silly at the idea that the Zen'in dog would get such a welcome into any world. as the light dissipates, it reveals a large black panthera creature, lying in wait, green eyes narrowed to slits, watching, observing.

slowly, very slowly, it loses its shape, turning from large cat to something more man-shaped, faded jaguar pattern running down his left temple and the side of his neck like a tattoo.

not that the shape makes that much of a difference. Toji almost always looks like he's a prowling beast looking for prey. being in a foreign environment only brings that to the forefront.

dusting off the fluffy white sweater and his black skinny jeans (who the fuck put that on him???) he looks around again. )

Foxy, Foxy, you sure this is where you want me to be?

( no answer, not that he's expected one. in the absence of an alternative, Toji just walks down the next best path. it'll lead him somewhere in the end. all roads lead somewhere, don't they? )

Thirteen Knows What You Did Last Summer

( the slip of paper sits on the table, the fold neat and crisp, the rest appearing untouched. its owner is nowhere near it. has he even bothered to read it? maybe, maybe not.

Toji is more interested in the rows and rows of books, wandering the library, slowly dragging his finger across the bound backs. there has been a library at the estate, that he remembers, but he's never been allowed to step inside. useless mutts have no need for higher education when they're much more useful in other ways.

pulling out a book every now and then, he thumbs through them leisurely. soon he notices that not all books are books. one or two have revealed small treasures to him, murder weapons in various shapes, and it draws a small laugh out of him.

pocketing the dagger, he puts the tome back onto the shelf and continues to browse the library, steadfastly ignoring the accusation sitting on the desk. )

( whoever said books had nothing to offer was a big fat dirty liar. the dagger he's pulled out of a book of old plays comes in very hand when those critters come out to play with him. Toji tears through them like they're paper, thoroughly enjoying the exercise if the grin with too many teeth is anything to go by. his sweater is drenched in red by teh time he tears out the last critter's throat, blood running down the side of his face where the marks are. )

To Prank or to be Pranked

( the formerly white sweater had a pink tint to it now. and as if that isn't enough yet, a small box decides to explodes in a cloud of glitter, that clings to the maniac like a jealous lover. not one to easily fazed, Toji continues his stroll through town, until his way is blocked by yet another box, and there's no way in hell he would touch another one of those but this.

this one has his name on it.

and refuses to be picked up or opened on the ground.

squatting next to it, Toji keeps poking and prodding it, growing more annoyed by the minute, and the animal pattern on his face darkens, starts to spread across his skin. )

She'd been on her way back to the apartments when she catches movements and turns her head automatically.

And freezes, goes dead still as she stares at a familiar frame, before pulling her device out, sending two messages before tucking the device away, her shoulders straightening as she closes in on the guy.

"..How are you even here?!"

She knows staying out of his direct range is pointless, but she's still keeping space between the two of them.

Arrival

[When she first came to after her arrival as a falling star, Tory found herself torn between two places she wanted to be - her home in her own world, and her home back in Trench. At some point over the year and several months she spent in that world, she'd begun to think of it as home.

She pushes herself to her feet, wishing she'd thought of questions about this new world instead of wanting clarification on the terms the fox used, and asking the fox why she'd been brought here. The fox told her she was a "Legend", and though Tory has her doubts, the fox picked up on them during their travels and told her she was exactly what she was supposed to be. Whatever that meant.

There's a nudge at the back of her head, and she realizes that Daybreak, her omen from Trench, has accompanied her. That's a reassurance. Though Daybreak may be fairly small compared to the dragons in storybooks, a dragon that's roughly ostrich sized is still deterrent enough for troublemakers. She smiles fondly at the dragon, giving her head a gentle stroke.]

Let's find somewhere to live.

[Though it's not freezing here, she's arrived in pajamas suited to the summertime. The little yellow pajama t-shirt and shorts are absolutely not warm enough right now. Well, this is as good a time as any to test if her darkblood powers are in tact with the trip here. Concentrating for a few seconds with her hands held out in front of her, she clearly pictures an oversized and warm hoodie. Dark shimmering energy that looks like a cloud of black and midnight blue glitter appears between in her hands before taking form into the black hoodie she'd envisioned.

It's quite a sight for an onlooker - a girl in her late teens standing shivering beside an ostrich-sized dragon and manifesting a hooded sweatshirt from thin air. There's another nudge from the dragon against her and Tory realizes she's being watched.]

Hey.

[Her greeting comes as she hastily pulls on the hoodie for warmth. She can't see who it is just yet, but she doesn't get the impression that the person approaching has any violent intentions, at least.]

Detention

In detention for: going to the LaRusso household with other Cobra Kai students to start a fight with Miyagi-do and Eagle Fang students

[Well, Tory can't deny that she deserved detention for this particular incident. Really, she's fortunate the LaRusso family didn't press charges against her. She looks balefully at the paper in her hands. She knows she's worked hard to be better, and to redeem herself. But it's true that she never faced consequences beyond some bruises.

Crashed a holiday party to fight your karate rival, beat up everyone who got in your way and attacked your rival with nunchuks

Maybe the person across from her will be a little more interested in sharing and getting something off their chest than she is.]

Detention part 2 - fighting monsters

[After exchanging stories and chatting with her fellow people stuck in detention, there's still over two hours left. They're in a library, so reading something is the most natural conclusion. Except, the book she opens somehow has a set of nunchucks come out of it. An ironic reward for confessing and showing remorse, perhaps? She holds it up, entertained and wanting to draw the others' attention to it. Maybe they'll find something cool.]

[Her momentary delight is disrupted when she hears a low and fierce growl and finds herself faced with a large monster.]

"Learning how to deal with a whole new world without knowing anyone here would suck," Tory agreed. She was confident enough in her ability to make friends, but already having one here would make navigating around here easier. And while Maul was the superior fighter of the two of them, she was the one who had far better social skills.

"Did your omen make it here with you? Daybreak did." Her own omen wasn't far, but had taken to exploring.

"I was going to look for a place to live when I found you. We could be neighbours, if you wanted."

Enough to allow them each some privacy and space, yet close enough to be readily available.

Arrival

Damen's first thought is that he's had worse falls. Then he thinks for a moment and realizes how stupid that thought is. He's never fallen out of the sky. It's just that he's... fine. Yes, there were those few confusing moments when he landed, but... he's through those moments.

He takes stock of himself again, checking for injuries, but he really is fine. He's still laced into the Veretian clothes he'd been wearing before. He's also still wearing the gold slave collar and cuffs, of course. He wouldn't be lucky enough to have those vanish in the confusion of whatever that was, convenient as that would be. His sword, on the other hand, is gone, replaced by, of all things, a spoon. But it's fine. He's managed himself fine under worse circumstances.

He rolls his shoulders and strides forward purposefully. Time to figure out just what that fox had been talking about.

Detention

Damen has been a prisoner before, and been detained, but he's never experienced anything like this. It seems so mild. No chains, no guards, nothing but books and a slip of paper that says he's being punished for owning slaves. Which is ridiculous. Owning slaves is not a crime, not in Akielos, and it's not like he's the sort of man who would abuse a slave. Perfect submission in exchange for perfect care, that's how it works. There's nothing wrong with that.

His opinions haven't changed over the long months he's been a slave, either. His situation is different. He was a prince, never someone inclined to submission like a slave would be.

He crumples the paper in his hand and throws it towards the door with a scowl. He ignores the small voice in his head that questions if it really is that different. It has to be. His entire culture can't be wrong.

Can it?

MONSTER ATTACK

Well, that was a lot of introspection and he hated it, but on the bright side, he has a weapon now. It's not enough to chase the restless energy skittering through his muscles from that endless four hours, or from the revelations and conversations that that came from it, but he still feels better armed. If only there were something he could fight to really get himself back to rights.

It's then that the monsters attack, of course. Damen knows he should be frightened seeing creatures out of myth charging towards him, but all he can really feel is relief. Finally, something he's good at.

Detention

Laurent bends to pick up the crumpled paper and unballs it. He reads it over, then glances at Damen. Fucking Damen. He can't escape him, no matter where he goes. Even in another universe.

He turns the paper toward Damen to show him the words. "You disagree?"

[At this rate, Peggy should be old hat at multiverse jumping experience, but being turned into a comet and then yeeted into a magical realm by a fancy fox? It's more than a little jarring.

After a quick functionality survey of her body that confirms everything remains in working order, she sets off in the direction of the city lights just starting to flicker on in the distance. Maybe she can find more answers there, or perhaps some familiar faces. With a good pace she should be able to trek the distance before the sun goes down completely.

If she catches sight of another person, particularly if they look like their in need of any assistance, Carter lengthens her stride and closes the distance.]

[Staring at the two desks with the slip in hand, Peggy immediately squints, ruminating on whether she's supposed to try and fit in one of the seats. They certainly don't look up to the task of supporting the heft of a super soldier.]

Is this supposed to be The Breakfast Club?

[It's muttered mostly to herself, but it's a genuine question. Usually she's shuffled into a new universe because there's a need for her to fight, not to require her to do penance for...

She glances down to the paper in her hand and she pales, attempting to swallow down her guilt before glancing around in search of an exit. Now's not the time to unpack that. Especially without a good dram.]

[At this current moment, Peggy has somehow managed to avoid the messy explosions of glitter, which while creatively cruel is thankfully harmless. She'd like to continue that streak. However, as she looms over a multi-colored package in the shape of what might be either a trashcan lid or a large serving platter addressed to her, the super soldier can't help her desire to tempt that annoyance.

Having arrived with a key part of her superhero ensemble missing, she's kept an eye out for any opportunity to regain her shield. Apparently it's possible here. Since it's more than a gift from a friend, Peggy decides it's worth the risk.

There's a soft exhale of preparation, and then she precisely heel stomps the edge of the bowl, arm outstretched to catch what she's hoping is her vibranium shield.

Except... Nothing happens. And she appears genuinely gob-stopped.]

[Emmet didn't pay attention to what the fox was saying to be honest, he just figured that he must have (finally) bought the farm. And you know what, he was okay with it. There was food down for the Pokémon, and when he didn't go into work tomorrow, a Depot Agent would be bound to call him. Body discovered, everyone can move on.]

[And he was okay with it. He as tired, he was lonely, he was made very aware each day that people saw him less as his own person, and more as an accessory to Ingo. And now that they were going to declare Ingo (legally) dead soon - well, you don't need a badge case if you don't have any badges.]

[If he paid attention, he would know this wasn't the afterlife, and he shouldn't consider it a victory that he isn't a Yamask. But instead, right now, all he was sitting at the Jami Station, looking out in the gardens where people were wandering.]

[He should've known he would feel lonely here too. He exhaled and looked down at the food he had packed. He didn't each much anymore, and he always packed for two (him and Ingo) despite the years that had passed.]

[If he was going to wallow, he could do it at home! He stood up and looked for the closest person he could find.]

Detention

[Think about what he did wrong and confess to it and then detention would be over. The Myth leaned forward over the desk and decided to just keep his head on it. He wanted this over with as he grabbed a notebook and pen and started to write.]

[His handwriting was tight and ugly, hard to read if you were to peer over his shoulder to see what he was confessing to.]

[And he would turn his head and look back.]

[While other people are stealing packages, Emmet had simply decided that the package left on his stoop could live there now. He placed a plank of wood over it and on that he had a cup of coffee, a piece of toast and his Device (which reminded him very much of a Nintendo DS!) and was ignoring those items to watch people take packages, run, hide and other mischievousness. He started to wonder though, what if he was able to open his own package. He saw someone running as he called out.]

[Ingo was paying attention during his journey here. As far as he's concerned, this is all a blessing from some god he was unaware of - a chance for a journey of self-discovery, without having to abandon his responsibilities in Hisui! He's been stalled out on the tracks for a few years now, as far as his memories go...something needed to change, if he was going to make more progress. He just hadn't known what, or how, or what direction to even search in. This, though, this must be a sign!

Granted, he's not sure how growing wings plays into this spiritual journey.

While in transit, everything feels sort of hazy and dreamlike. He doesn't really think about it. After arriving in some sort of cultivated walled garden, though, the world starts to feel a little more real again. He quickly realizes a few potential issues.]

Ah - !

[He tries to turn and see his back. But he can't crane his neck far enough, and the wings feel bulky and awkward. He mostly gets a faceful of black feathers. Ingo looks around, the ethereal beauty of the garden slipping past him for a moment, and starts trying to wave down passerby.]

Excuse me! Could you - can you please tell me if these have just put new holes in my coat?

[His voice has gone rather loud in his distress, and he might be making a little bit of a scene. Ingo isn't really thinking about that right now, though. This old thing is in rough enough condition, he might have just split some seams...]

I have to do everything when I'm around you guys.

[And then he uses his "supervillain powers" to summon a wave of giant vines in a circle around them. It's a decoy. The vines shoot outwards in a high arc meant to act as a barrier for them, if the hounds leap.

In the next instant, he summons a platform made of vines from directly under the their feet. It'll carry them high up; hopefully higher than the hellhounds will be able to reach, without sacrificing the platform's stability.]

I. Arrival

This wasn't Maul's first time being drawn to another world. This wasn't even his second. Seeing as how this was his third time being drawn through the multiverse somewhere new, he was a bit resigned to the experience now. Granted, being torn from Trench and everything there that made his home dear to him wasn't exactly a happy experience. But he consoled himself with the fact that this was most likely temporary. He'd make his way back to Trench someday come hell or high water. He had too many people there he loved to be torn away from his chosen home forever.

But for now, here he was, once again at the whim of some weird god. At least this one seemed a tiny bit nicer than the Pthumerians of Trench, though he was still waiting for the other shoe to drop. Gods, in his experience, were cruel and capricious much of the time. Still, he knew enough to show the being respect. He talked with Thirteen as they traveled and she told him he would be a Familiar after explaining the roles.

That got a curious head tilt from the Zabrak Sith Lord. "Familiar? Are you sure you don't mean Myth?"

The fox giggled, changing her shape to that of her Jewelia iteration. He didn't show a flicker of amazement to be talking to a fox one moment and a beautiful woman the next. "Oh no, I'm quite certain. You're a Familiar."

With that, he fell to earth. Immediately, he got up. He was dressed in one of his usual outfits, black clothes with a black robe on top. While he looked quite ferocious, an intense look of anger on his face, there was something less menacing in the gaze of his eyes too. They were not the Sith yellow he had possessed for much of his life but instead grey-brown. They looked at someone without blinking, sizing them up, as if deciding if the person in question was worthy of his protection or not.

"You." Yes, that would be you, whoever was passing by. That ferocious glare was holding the eyes of the other person steady. "Tell me anything important I might need to know that the fox failed to mention."

II. Detention

"Ah, of course. One of these group therapy sessions." Maul sounded almost bored when he'd been brought to detention. Look, he'd gone through three (approximately, time moved weird in Pthumerian realms) years of this sort of thing already. He knew the drill. It was either sit down and talk about his feelings with whoever was across from him or something terrible would likely happen. That didn't stop him from wadding a piece of the notebook paper into a ball and chucking it at Kuma Lisa before she left, not thinking it at all a bad idea to try and pester a literal god. (Why yes, he did have all of the maturity level of a snarky twelve year old, thank you for noticing!)

He promptly grabbed a book, propped up his mechanical feet on the nearest chair, and relaxed. "You may go first. I'm not in the mood for talking at the moment." He made it sound a bit like a king graciously giving his subject a favor. Then he opened up the book he'd selected and started to read. Nope, he wasn't joking. He fully expected the other person to go first.

If not, well, there was a lot of time they now had on their hands. He was certain he could find plenty of ways to entertain himself until then. He gnawed on one claw absently as he waited.

III. Gifts

Maul eyed the gift he'd been left with suspicion. Things like these always had strings attached to them and he was content to just let it be. That was until he tried to walk away from it. He could feel something within the package, something....calling out to him. Something so familiar it could only be the presence of the kyber crystals within his saberstaff..

Could it be.....? He sensed it only for a moment before he not longer could. But now the long package had his full attention. His saberstaff belonged to him as surely as his eyes and arms did. He was determined to do anything to get it back.

"You!" Again he made a demand of whoever was nearby, this time barking out the word, clearly someone used to being obeyed. "Open this for me!" It would have been a wise decision to obey him. Anyone who tried to walk away was getting dragged back over courtesy of the Force and having his demands repeated at them once again. Yeah, he was still working on learning that little concept called manners. It had been down as number 99 on a list of about 100 things he'd been working on improving about himself over time. He had bigger priorities than learning to say please and thank you most days.

It's not like people can't or don't talk about their lives, and some do use various methods, but Padmé has been mindful. She's always tried to do the best for the Republic and she learned early on in her career that any information can be twisted and turned to someone else's advantage. It had made things harder for her, and she needs to put her focus on her duties and obligations as a Senator. The sooner the war is over, the better, on so many different levels.

"Mm. Interests don't always align, and some are unable to see beyond the needs of their own planet." Padmé has no qualms bending, for the right causes. She knows that isolation only hinders and you'd be surprised what a helping hand can blossom into in the future. "I've been lucky though. I've found like-minded senators."

[This is not the court Wuvvy knows. This is neither court she's woven herself into as Champion, as Assistant to Mistrex of the Bloom. But there is magic in the air, thick, heady- Wuvvy can feel it. It is not home, but there is magic here, pouring from every nook and cranny of this space.

Then again, she has lost her home, quite a while ago. There is no reason not to follow a mysterious fox into the greenery, tumble from the sky like a discarded star, a shine burnt away to disappear forever.

She taps her fingers against the hard surface of the desk, a detention slip taunting her from under her hand.

The satyr fae is silent. He ears pin against her skull. Discontent written in every line of her body. Her hooves scrape against the hard floor as she shifts in her seat. She tries for a smile, a wane waxen thing.]

Tell me, what brings you here? [Her voice is raspy, a little hushed. Her large eyes are charming on her soft round face. A soft white satyr with curly white hair.]

B. Love Is The Death Of Peace Of Mind - OTA

[Her blade all but sings in her grasp as it cuts through the air to find a new home. The beast, a monster woven together from other fairy tale creatures, lurches towards her. Blood whets her blade's appetite. The beast howls in rage and pain, reeling backwards.

Her small sweet looking form has been shed for something far more dangerous looking than the beast who accosts her. A feral form that looms, still delicately white but made to fight. Longer horns, larger claws, fangs and longer limbs. A feral creature wielding a blade in delicate blouse and bead work on her bodice.

Wuvvy had touched weaponry within that Detention, and seemingly there is a price.

There is always a price.

Her hooves clatter against the pavement, finding a steadiness as she takes another swing. The opening is easy to follow after. Her voice is deeper, guttural.]

I told you to stand down, I gave you a warning. I have no patience for another.

[How many times must Rue apologize for the same set of grievances?!

At this point, they already know exactly what is going on the very moment they awaken in that room, stuffed into that uncomfortable wooden desk, a piece of paper pressed against their feathery palm. Even before their big eyes flutter open, Rue knows the stuffy smell of old books, the agonizing ticking of the clock they know will not move until certain conditions are set.

But then comes the variable. Rue knows that voice better than anyone's. Even better than their own husband's.

Something in their chest goes tight at the realization, even as their gaze tears straight over to where the satyr is seated, speaking as causally as anything, as if Rue has not gone over a year since they last her heard voice. As if the last time they saw one another, Wuvvy had not broken their heart with her betrayal.

Suddenly, the why Rue is here again doesn't matter.]

Wuvvy, is it truly you? I can not believe that my eyes could be deceiving me, but there have been times this place has enjoyed making a fool of us all.

[It wasn't hard to figure out what that implied and his eyes dimmed to a soft, yet agitated flicker. Likewise for the first time Dolph was more than just a fun way to kill time and let off some steam. His anger fizzled with one last tired scoff, although it didn't have the same bark as before.]

01. I Know What You Did Last Spring Break

[ With an adventuring party that's affectionately called "The Bad Kids," it comes as no surprise that this is not Adaine's first time in detention. It's not even her first kidnapping, although her vague recollections of conversations with an otherworldly fox spirit of some kind make it feel a bit less malicious than the time her own father kidnapped her last spring.

She sits uncomfortably in her desk chair, and takes a peek at the detention slip in her hands. Her face immediately goes ghostly white and she hurriedly slips the piece of paper into her jacket pocket. Let the people living in the pocket dimension inside her jacket worry about what she's done. She sure as hell isn't inclined to tell anyone about it, or even acknowledge it.

When it seems like no time is passing, Adaine decides to pass the time instead by perusing the books on the shelves around the room. She sees an interesting book on the thermodynamics of magical energy exchange, but when she tries to open it, a large metal ladle falls out of the pages, clattering to the floor. Adaine looks aghast at first, but quickly rolls her eyes and sighs. ]

Oh, come on! At this point, you're just adding insult to injury.

02. Get Gifted, Sucker

[ Once it becomes clear that Adaine is going to be here for a while, she decides she ought to settle in. So, she claims herself a little hobbit hole house and tries to feel comfortable. Even after her parents abandoned her and returned to Fallinel, Adaine's never lived on her own before. She'd immediately been taken in by Sandra Lynn and Jawbone, and for the better part of last year has been living in Mordred Manor with her friends. Her older sister had even moved in with them after spring break! So while the hobbit home feels cozy in a way Adaine's really never experienced before, it also feels increasingly lonely.

She's surprised to find a wrapped gift sitting outside her door when she goes to head to market one morning. She looks around, trying to see who might have left it there, but there doesn't seem to be anyone in sight. Thinking it's perhaps best not to leave it out there, she bends to pick it up and bring it inside. Only, when she tries to pick it up, the box won't budge! She tugs on it as hard as she can, with her hands eventually slipping and her momentum causing her to tumble back and land on her butt on the doorstep. Even trying to lift the lid off of the gift box or untie the ribbon seems to be impossible.

Adaine spends most of the day trying to think of a way to lift or open the gift, to no avail. She tries brute strength (of which she has very little), with no success. She tries using physics by building a makesheft lever to lift it, but it hardly budges. She doesn't want to resort to using magic, for fear of damaging whatever might be inside, but she's honestly at her wit's end.

Finally, sometime in the afternoon, she gives up and decides to ask for help. She waves her arm to flag down the first person she sees walking by and calls out to them: ]

Excuse me? Can I borrow you for a second? Maybe you'll be able to open this bloody thing...

A. Arrival, Escape from detention

Okay, the whole fox thing, suuuper cool, the detention part? Gonna pass on that, even if it's not the detention pit. Been through enough detentions to last me a lifetime.

[This isn't the first time Luz has bodily crawled through a window. Maybe the first time she's successfully done it for a detention escape. She drops onto her feet, dusting herself off as she peers back at the window she climbed through.

She finger guns awkwardly at the other detention havers before taking off away from the library. She needs to get back to the isle as soon as possible. The Day of Unity is coming, and they need to figure out a plan.

This is no Boiling Isle, but there is a lot to take in. She would love to be excited, but the guilt churning in her gut dampens the feeling. ]

Now the real question is, what exactly is this place? Do the glyphs work here? Does my walkie talkie still work-? [Her attempt at planning aloud is quickly dashed when she catches sight of a specific spirit drifting by. Luz double takes, twisting to look at the spirit in particular.]

Wait, why does that guy look like he's from Spirited-

[And her attention on a spirit means she smacks right into a poor Star Child minding their business. Likely taking both parties out in the process. Enjoy the taste of pavement.]

B. All that glitters is stolen goods

[Is it morally wrong to take a gift off the ground? Maybe. Just maybe. Luz logically knows this.

But logic can't out do her natural curiosity. She's hefted up a gift she finds on the sidewalk, turning it over in her hands.]

Man, who names their kid Frankbuters Buttz? Even people in the Boiling Isle wouldn't go for that- [She draws her thumb across the name tag idly.] ...It wouldn't hurt to just take a peek, right? So I can get it to Buttz-

[She opens the gift, and predictably, it explodes into a horrifying cloud of glitter. Luz flails backwards with a shout, dropping the gift box aside. She swats frantically at the glitter as she tries to get away from it.]

Okay, okay- my bad, my bad!

[And here Casey was just minding his own business, texting on his relic as he wanders out of the school after a visit to the library... and bam, down he goes. He truly is becoming one of those darn kids, always on their phones. (This is his neighbourhood, though! Generally safe!) Anyway, he sits up and squints at his alleged attacker.]

Luke, just like so many before him, couldn't resist the compulsion to follow after the strange fox that had suddenly appeared in his room, but that didn't mean he wasn't reluctant to do so. He had stayed in Trench because of his friends, and felt that he was more needed there than back at home. Being pulled away from it against his will unnerved him, but the fox's words calmed him, assured him that everything was going to be okay.

And then he was falling, streaming through the sky faster than he could fly an x-wing, but he still managed to land on the ground with only a slight stumble, a new pair of wings on his back fluttering in an attempt to help him steady himself. Luke half glanced back at them, but he wasn't really seeing them; he had noticed something else on arrival, something that had been painfully lacking back in Trench.

He knelt down, touching the ground with a hand, fingers splayed, and closed his eyes in concentration. After a moment, any pebbles or rocks in the area started to lift up, floating in the air seemingly by themselves. Luke let out a breath as he opened his eyes, a small smile coming to his face.

"Been awhile since I've been able to do this much," he said, bopping the nearest pebble with the tip of a finger.

The words burned out from the paper they were written on, to the point that Luke was sure they seared themselves into his eyes. It didn't take much to figure out what the the detention slip was referring to, and it certainly stung in ways he hadn't been prepared for. Hadn't he already paid for his impatience in running off to save his friends from his father? He lost his hand and his innocent childhood dreams that day; what more did he need to do to atone for his actions?

He let out a deep sigh after a moment, folding up the detention slip and secreting it away into a pocket.

"So... should we try waiting this out?" he asked the person he was partnered with.

Luke wasn't exactly expecting to wake up to a package on his doorstep with his name on it. He was pretty sure there was only one person that even knew him well enough to leave a present for him, and Maul would have just dropped it on top of him instead of just leaving it at the door. For a moment, he looked around the area, trying to see if there was anyone around, before he finally shrugged.

Kneeling down, Luke looked around for a way to open the package. Finding a seam, he pulled up on it and...

POOF!

A cloud of glitter exploded into his face, and Luke tried to flinch away from it, but the damage was already done. It got everywhere, including into his mouth and up his nose. He waited for the cloud to settle before spitting out the glittery mess, rubbing furiously at his nose to get the rest out of him.

"Ugh... what on...?" he managed to get out, pretty sure there was glitter in his ears too.

Ezra hadn't been sure why the Force was nudging him so strongly today, but of course, he'd listened and gone wondering, letting its tugs direct his feet. Luke reaching into the Force? That, on the other hand, has been rather unmistakable.

And that statement would match Ezra's own experience as a Paleblood that send that nature when he came here. Still, he's not completely sure if this is a version of Luke Skywalker that knows him.

So he stands hands, tucked into his cloak, in the bright style of robes he's taken to wearing over the course of his time in Trench. His lightsaber hilt, too, is the one he'd carried in Trench, built in his travels across time and dimensions, loosely modeled on the lightsaber Obi-Wan Kenobi carried during the Clone Wars. His hair has gotten even longer, kept in a loose bun. No beard. Or wings or any other notable features, for that matter.

"The Force feels...clear here, in most places," he offers, watching to see Luke's reaction. The corruption in Trench has usually felt...murky, at best.
