"The same could be said for much of life. Everyone must find the means to place food on the table and find a place to live," V suggests. "With all of life's unpleasantries, what makes the trials so special that they should be excluded from our expectations?"

It's a philosophical musing more than based on experiences of the trials themselves. He knows little of them, save that he's certain dragons speaking of math cannot count as one. It's the boy's next words that draw V's attention ever sharper. "Unpleasant things exist whether you think of them or not. Painting them over with heroics leaves them rotting underneath. Weakness at your core. Better to look at them now and grow stronger than wait another twenty years to face that lesson.

"Perhaps these trials truly do you a favor." Spoken from experience as someone who only faced his own weakness because it was forced upon him. He forced it on himself, Vergil discarding him as weakness, and as weakness, V could not escape it. Yet it made him stronger.
