Reflective surfaces are showing more than Star Children's reflections. It's still there, smiling, winking, or waving back (hey, did you do that? It's fine, don't worry about that). More importantly, a question appears with the reflection. It might be spoken aloud by the tree behind a Star Child or appear in a thought bubble off their reflection. However it appears, it will not disappear until it's answered. It asks: Would you rather...

Should a Star Child avoid answering the question, it follows them around. The environment continues to speak it aloud. It's in the book they read. It's written in the clouds. It's everywhere. The longer it's ignored, the louder, larger, more intrusive it gets—so that it might draw attention or an audience.

As soon as a Star Child answers, they're connected with another Star Child who hears their answer. They may see each other in their reflections, talk or text over their relics, or be near each other when it's answered. Regardless, at least that one person will hear the answer, and with it comes the compulsion to explain the answer. To give at least a little reasoning. Oh, and the urge to ask them a question in return. This compulsion may only last for one question each, or it may last for many. Perhaps it's forgotten altogether in an easy conversation.

For some Star Children, but not all of them, they may find themselves presented literally with completing the situation they are asked about. A non-permanent change situation. Suddenly they're streaming on their relic or in conversation with a friend or at dinner with Thirteen. Who knows! The initial questions appear before Star Children, but they can take it wherever they like. Star Children who complete at least one challenge receive a gold star anywhere from 1 inch to 1 foot across. Touching it gives Star Children a better sense of certainty in themselves. It may be kept, exchanged at Cutting Edge for some other metal, or turned into Thoth for her answer to a would you rather question.

This meme is game canon unless marked otherwise at the start of threads! Threads can be used for spoons and application samples.
Characters are presented a 'would you rather' question first in their reflection, then if unanswered around them wherever they go.
Characters face a strong compulsion to explain their answer... and to ask their partner at least one 'would you rather' question of their own.
Characters may have to complete the question they answered. If they do, they receive a gold star (once only!), which gives them a sense of certainty. It can also be exchanged for metal at Cutting Edge or to ask Thoth a would you rather question.

Would you rather share your greatest accomplishment or learn what your greatest accomplishment will be?

Would you rather share your most treasured memory or your most terrible memory?

Would you rather return to your life unaware of Folkmore or with your memories?

Would you rather be close to your family or distant from them?

Would you rather see your father or mother again? Or which of your parents, more generally?

Would you rather share what is needed to be a close friend of yours or an embarrassing moment in your life?

Would you rather share when you last cried and why or what is to serious to be joked about?

You sound made to be a member of the pantheon.

Do you think so? [She grins.] Do they have dental?

Absolutely. [ It's not entirely a compliment. Everyone in the pantheon is fucked up as shit, but Baphomet's long suspected that's true of most people in Folkmore. ]

You get enough sponsorship deals and the like it more than pays for dental. You also get vision.

Well, vision could be a blessing or a curse. What kind of vision are we referring to here?

The only guarantee is insurance. Glasses and contacts galore. Now some gods have visions, but hell if I know which god you'd be.

Hmm, my vision is pretty terrible. Visions plural sound more trouble than they're worth, though.

You want to make sure you correct it. Any lines around your eyes should be from smiling and laughing, not squinting.

Visions, now, are guaranteed trouble. It's only a matter of how.

It's not been much of a pantheon with only me here for a while.

I could be an honorary member if you like. Just to keep you company. I'm not sure I'm very godly, is the only thing.

Being divine means a whole range of things. Don't narrow it down to Judeo-Christianity. Gotta look farther back for the fun stuff. And the origins of most the gods in the pantheon. Lucifer excepted.

You don't have to be even an honorary member to be friends.

Oh, by all means. Judeo-Christianity is just the most obnoxious. [Literally makes her ears bleed, in the wrong setting.] I've always liked the tales of the Tuath Dé Danann myself. You don't have any of them in your pantheon, do you?

Not in my pantheon, but I wouldn't be surprised if one were in the Druid pantheon back in the day. There's so many in history we don't know the composition of, and I can't say I'm one of the more popular gods at showing their face.

Oh, a Druid pantheon! [Now we're talkin'. Druids are fantastic.] How many pantheons are there?

All kinds of pantheons across history. Approximately sixty-five different ones. They each have their time. Many of them have few records, but people love to spin theories or study them.

I like that. Sounds like it spans a very wide range of belief. Does yours have a particular name?

Not yet. It usually takes time for the final name to stick.

Though, I heard from someone past my time, we may be the last pantheon. In which case that may be our name. The final pantheon.

Death to the gods, I'm afraid. You know, at least for that pantheon. Some keep coming back. Others only make appearances when they want to or whatever other reasons people do anything.

[ Matter of fact. It's one of the basic things everyone in his world knows. More reliable than seven days in a week or when the year starts. ]

In my world, I think I'd be thankful for less gods in the world. Not so much here. [Baphomet's fun.]

Is it a death that can be fought?

Some people in my world would agree with you. Gods undercut the authority of those in power traditionally—for good or bad.

Many have tried. If I'm to believe what I learned about the future, it's a cycle caught in a riddle. The Recurrence is a story, and the way for the story to end is to end the story. Too cryptic?

Stories have power in that fashion. [We've all been at the mercy of one at some point.]

I suppose you really aren't in a hurry to go home, then?

Life and death and everything in between. We all tell ourselves stories about our lives and live by them.

I am a big fan of curiosity! Where would we be without it? Keeps some of us going, I'd imagine.

Life can be a grind. We need curiosity and sometimes spite to do what we do. Whatever gets you there at the end of the day and keeps you above a mindnumbing existence.
