Truth Meme

Somehow, there is kirin on you.
Most likely, it is the fur of the kirin that was caught in the environment of wherever you’ve been; there is a stray hair on you because one was on the seat you sat on upon the train or because it blew onto the brim of your hat in the wind.
Or it may be because you met the kirin—a playful ungulate moose-sized spirit who prefers not to speak—and engaged with him and gave him a pat, or a scratch behind an ear. Maybe the kirin nosed or licked your hand because you made him laugh (it’s an adorable ‘keh keh keh’ sound).
Unfortunately for both you and the kirin (who had not meant to trouble your day like this, truly), this exposure to his dander has only one reaction, and it happens to 100% of Star Children: you are compelled to tell the entire truth. About what is less specific; you are compelled simply to announce things about yourself—your life, experiences, thoughts, opinions, feelings. No matter if it’s something silly and inconsequential, deep or secretive, life-altering or commonplace. Some may choose to do this by employing Foxi and their relic; others by finding people to exchange truth with to face to face.
When you have met the kirin’s subconscious desire for four hours, you will be free from the truth telling and the recipient of 24 hours of good luck. The good luck will be sometime in the next year rather than in the next day, and you may have no idea where it came from, but you’ll know a lucky day when you have it!

Sephiroth? [ Gruff but... concern. ] Where are you?

THIS KID.
It shouldn't be a surprise Vincent's turned up, that Familiar Bond thing did allow the Turk to keep tabs on him and very deliberately so, but it doesn't mitigate anything. He doesn't bother to move from his spot on the floor in the only side room MEANT to be a bedroom but generally used for homework, papers and books stacked around him in betrayal of what he's been up to. Classwork never ends.
Casimir's not .. entirely present, a seething ball of blood-tinted black fog and little more.]
In the back. Something's really wrong, or maybe it's just some damn Trial, I can't stop saying things I really don't want to and it's getting really aggravating! It doesn't even matter if I'm saying it out loud or writing it down, out it comes! Like I really want to be handing out a dissertation on why it's frustrating to not be able to do ANYTHING I might enjoy because it might upset someone else! Why is it fine everyone else can upset me all the time, but I can't do it back!
no subject
Not that the bond would have made it impossible to find the lad. Casimir's state is glimpsed, but it would be no surprise to the Familiar. Vincent focuses on Sephiroth; and the relic in his hand. ]
Are you able to give me your relic?
[ And does he want to hand it over? Vincent has by then moved close enough to allow it to be handed over, but he's not going to force the matter. Over the bond there's concern, but mostly he seems calm. ]
no subject
No compulsion to keep it, it seems.]
Yes, that seems fine, I'm sure there's other ways I can make this miserably awkward even without it. Why does nobody ever want to know something nice? Instead it's prying into things I don't want to talk about! Why couldn't it be about spaceships? Nobody wants to talk to me about spaceships! I have designs!

[ He's seen other ones. But it wasn't a lie that he was mildly curious over anything since he last saw them. Settling back against the wall near Sephiroth's spot, he starts browsing the conversation. Hrm. Hrm. ]
I think I would have preferred you punching me at the time I told you.
[ It's a little dry. There's a renewal of old guilt through the bond, though. Well, the truth is written there plain as day after all. And he had ignored how his deception would impact Sephiroth. ]
no subject
[Like most things. The technology he can bring back needs to be something that their level of knowledge can DO something with or it'd be utterly wasted.
He knows it's a distraction, but it seems the lack of filter didn't really care what the subject was, so still radiating grumpy irritation, he picks up one of his notebooks to potentially continue with homework. Ordinarily having someone go through personal things like his relic would be a problem but it's been some months since he had a conversation that really needed to be kept to himself.]
At least you knew what the ice cream was and what it would do. I don't know where this came from. I don't like it.

[ This is... well, not helpful exactly. Dilithium could be called something entirely different if it existed on Gaia. But there's a nuance behind the tone that suggests the curiosity is a little more invested than just... well the advantage of this being something to distract Sephiroth from his ire.
About then, Sephiroth's relic, if it bleeps with a message arrival, does in fact bleep. Vincent looks down at it. And... types something. A trickle of agitation crosses the bond but it fades quickly. ]
I'm telling Sharon I'm holding onto your relic for now.

[he can hear his relic's alerts, and one is ignorable, he did hand it over but more than that..
The teen frowns.]
Don't pick on her, if that's what you're doing. I almost got her vivisected by the Professor a few months back, she has every right to say things to me I don't like.

Nothing comes to mind. [ He does speak like he had heard enough about the wonders of the natural world to at least have some wide range of knowledge to draw from. ] But... I suppose that doesn't mean much. My knowledge is a bit dated. And the planet is always presenting new mysteries.
[ Then... the upset. Vincent looks up as Sephiroth warns him off.
There is... something like reluctance. But the irritation ebbs and the former Turk sighs. ]
Only partly. Mostly telling her I won't extend the same courtesy, anyway. I'll leave it at that.
[ He will. Even if a trace of agitation remains. It is slowly edged out by renewed concern. Yeah he caught himself just in time; there are some questions he won't ask until after Sephiroth isn't compelled to answer them. ]
Anything I can help with on your homework?
[ There's probably some things Vincent isn't completely hopeless on. ]
no subject
[Impractical but interesting, like many of his casual interests. He can't do a thing with it, but he can dabble anyway like the complete amateur he was. Sooner or later he'd surely stumble across SOMETHING that they can use.
Or at the least it'll keep him occupied.]
... Good. I'm skeptical you'll let anything go that easily which makes you mad, but she's not a bad person. Just kind of really loud and abrasive, from what I can tell.
[His knowledge of Sharon was fairly limited to a lot of network and one very unpleasant Not!Trial, but he tended to assume the best of anyone not an executive or scientist.
The homework is considered.]
No. I can do it, I'm just procrastinating. It's not actually difficult.
no subject
Though that wouldn't help much for Sephiroth's time.
Vincent closes the relic after a final parting message and tucks it away under his cloak. He'll be holding on to that. The man then needs to respond to the obvious; that he had been irritated enough to let it traverse the bond. ]
Hrmph. I don't have a high tolerance for willful ignorance. Even without the bond, I would have been able to tell something's wrong. Having her turn around and say she did nothing wrong didn't sit well with me.
[ Whether or not Sephiroth chooses to accept it's one of the privileges she's allow, to be that way, doesn't mean it was right. ]
...The motherly act directed at me right after didn't improve my mood.
no subject
[His attention is turned back to his homework, but something shifts in his posture, a tension that suggests he's REALLY not thrilled about talking about any of it.. and can't really stop.
Don't pet strange deer, kids.]
She doesn't feel any more motherly to me than a rock does, but she might not like being caught at any of this, it might make her look bad. We don't really know each other, except that based on things she'd said I'm pretty sure she knows what my future is at least. So what looks like any kind of kindness or defensiveness for me is little more than mitigation strategies for the future, likely.
no subject
[ The one he remembers. It's worth a soft sigh. He could go into detail but it's not worth triggering... more on the subject. Vincent reads the tension. Purposefully changes the subject after he makes the statement Sephiroth's... forced to. ]
Want me to make food? Then... Do you want me to stay around?
[ Keep away people pestering with uncomfortable questions. ]

Goddamn Thirteen.
Text continues from Sephiroth's relic - hi there
[ Guess who. And... he's not talking about Thirteen when he mentioned someone might need punching. Maybe he is a little angry. ]
I'm going to hold on to his relic for a while.
[ Is he going to say it was given to him? No. ]
:3
[ She's still feeling spicy. ]
Re: :3
My choice might have been wrong. I don't mind that Sephiroth is angry at me for the deception. He has a right to be. But I have no interest in humoring your mother bear act when you just bullied him under the pretense of 'tough love'.
[ Oh. He's not just being spicy. He's actually upset. ]
no subject
Also, miss me with the 'obvious distress'. I didn't pick up on it until he thought to mention he couldn't not respond. [ Most of Sephiroth's text just read as pissy teenager to her. ]
no subject
Seems you're in luck. There's nothing more I can say. I'm sure he'll be in touch when he's free of the influence.
[ If a response is given soon after it will likely be marked 'read' but no further message from Vincent comes on this line. ]
