1 April Edition TFLN

Welcome to Folkmore's Texts From Last Night meme, April Fools edition! See, Thoth learned about April Fools from reading Chaucer but enjoys that it's an ongoing thing. Thoth's switched things up. Initial messages (aka top levels)—all set April 1st ICly—maaaaay go to the wrong person! So not all hell breaks loose, replies carry forward with whoever you've reached, but you might be texting your innermost intoxicated or sleep deprived secret to someone you don't even know.
If you'd like to opt out of misfires, please include this in your top level (by prompt or overall). Otherwise, enjoy indulging Thoth's amusement and building some new CR.
This meme can be used as a branch off from our Test Drive Memes and be used as game canon or just for casual fun in the setting! You do not need to be in our game or be invited to play on our TFLN. This can be a great way to meet current players for future invites, get a feel for the setting, or just have some fun.
This can be used for samples on our applications and as spoons for players accepted into the game.
(exact use is not required, you can modify them for your character, you can use other sources/random text generators/shower thoughts!)

Rough ETA for you?

--> action
[Flying will never stop being one of her favorite modes of transportation. It might not be instantaneous, but her hair never smells like brimstone and smoke. And the views? Well they're like none other. It'd be more meditative if she didn't have to keep an eye out for birds.
Thankfully the flight was quick and clean, with the only irritation being her hair, which she's currently attempting to shake free of the tie with one hand while finger combing through it with the other.
Unlike the first time they met, Rogue's dressed casually in skinny jeans, boots, an emerald hooded long sleeved shirt layered under a dark brown leather jacket. No super hero uniform today.]

Cobb has a favorite booth that puts his back to a pillar and gives him good line of sight on everything around him. He's relaxed back in seat, one arm slung across the back. He also thought ahead and got a bottle for the table and two glasses.
His whiskey is neat, no ice.
He waves a hand when he spots her. ]

An' here ah thought ah was buyin'.
[Not that she's complaining as she slides into the seat across from him.]
Ah notice you picked the best vantage point in here.

[ He raises his glass in a toast to her. ]
Old habit from back home. Tells me somethin' that you noticed though. I'm inclined to think you do the same where you're from.

[She's not about to fight him on that logic and raises her own glass to join in the toast.]
Best vantage of the entrance and access to the exits. The table's not fixed neither, so in a pinch you can flip it for quick cover.
[Rogue takes a sip of the amber liquid with a pleased sort of noise. It's good stuff.]
Ah'm more durable now, but it's a good practice to keep just in case. Even in a place like Folkmore that seems all cute and safe.

[ The trouble usually stays outside the drinking establishments which frankly Cobb is not used to. Alcohol should always breed trouble but it rarely does here. ]
Most of the threats you'll face are in Trials and it wasn't until a few months ago folks were gettin' outright hunted and killed. [ He still sounds angry about that. Cobb can tolerate a lot of bullshit but hunting people for sport? No. ]
Speakin' of you might want to keep iron handy on ya. [ He wiggles the fingers of his metal hand. ] I had built in protection but iron was the only thing that really stopped 'em. No tellin' when they'll come back.

Then, is that the spark of rage at the mention of hunting and killing people? You bet your britches. Sure did hit close to home on that one.] Run it down for me. There any way to avoid that in the future? [Another beat where her gaze drops to his hand.] An' what's iron got to do with it?
[As someone who's been collared and hunted for being a mutant? She's not keen on letting it happen again. Not to her, or to anyone else.]
So many folks here that ah recognize as 'heroes'-- [Yes, she does air quotes, even with a drink in one hand.] --from home or home adjacent. Makes me worry 'bout Thirteen bringin' any of the real evil ones here.
[The mere thought of the Red Skull with Xavier's brain showing up in Folkmore has her nauseous.]

[ Cobb's smile is a little sharper. Not exactly friendly, more predatory. ] I was out every night. Hunted them instead. Wasn't about to sit inside and let folks die. They stopped huntin' eventually. Passed that Trial or whatever.
[ He drinks and lets out a breath afterwards. ] Ain't met anyone truly evil. There's a braggart asshole who talks like he's evil but he's not doin' anything because he knows death isn't real here. If real evil does show up people here are good and will stand against it.
[ There's nothing they can do about who the fox chooses to bring. Cobb's not happy about this cage at all. ]
You'll be unsettled for awhile. Takes a bit to adjust but there's more good in the people here than bad from what I've seen.

If it or somethin' in the same vein does happen again, ah'll be right there with you on the front lines. Happy to watch your six.
[And maybe find out some information to boot with her touch. It's something she's going to ruminate over later. For now, she takes another drink while Cobb continues, nodding when he notes that folks here will rise up agains them.]
That's good to hear, all things considered.
[She's used to working as a team and banding together to overcome some wild things, so hopefully it'll be like a duck to water if the time does come around.]
Ah got thrown into a different universe once as punishment an' managed to survive an' find my way back home. Has anyone found a way home yet here?
no subject
[ It's always nice to have another set of eyes on him though he's got plenty of friends watching his six. He thinks Steve and Fenris might be disappointed if they didn't go out together though. Only the future will tell. ]
Far as I know, no. The fox has us all locked in tight. Folks with magic can't crack it. Ain't no information in the libraries about this place's history or the fox herself. [ He shrugs a lopsided shrug. ] If there's a way out it's hidden real well.
[ But Cobb figures killing the being in charge will fix that. Not that he's figured out how to do that yet. ]

There's no reading minds, but Rogue has wondered something similar, what might happen if someone could kill the fox. Would it turn into something far worse?
Like how Onslaught was created from killing the Red Skull.]
Ah'll keep an eye out. Though ah'm sure some folks would rather stay here then go home. Dependin' on their situations back there.
