Welcome to Folkmore's Texts From Last Night meme, April Fools edition! See, Thoth learned about April Fools from reading Chaucer but enjoys that it's an ongoing thing. Thoth's switched things up. Initial messages (aka top levels)—all set April 1st ICly—maaaaay go to the wrong person! So not all hell breaks loose, replies carry forward with whoever you've reached, but you might be texting your innermost intoxicated or sleep deprived secret to someone you don't even know.

If you'd like to opt out of misfires, please include this in your top level (by prompt or overall). Otherwise, enjoy indulging Thoth's amusement and building some new CR.

This meme can be used as a branch off from our Test Drive Memes and be used as game canon or just for casual fun in the setting! You do not need to be in our game or be invited to play on our TFLN. This can be a great way to meet current players for future invites, get a feel for the setting, or just have some fun.

This can be used for samples on our applications and as spoons for players accepted into the game.

It's not an easy problem to solve. Why do you think we've spent so long trying to figure it out? Progress is gradual. And I know it doesn't mean anything to people in the middle of a war to know that we're in the most peaceful time of humanity, but we do what we can. And we try to improve.

That's what you were made for. You don't have to be the whole solution, but you were supposed to be part of it.

How do you explain the paradox of being in the most peaceful time with the most amassed amount of destructive weapons? People are always six inches from destroying themselves on any given day. I wasn't about to sit around and hope everyone would wake up and have an epiphany someday.

[Hmmmm, maybe he should have gone with an idea of getting rid of the nukes entirely instead of using them...]

It's as Fury said: a higher form of war. You were made to protect Earth and its inhabitants from whatever came next.

And what did come next? I saw patterns forming but I couldn't see where they were ultimately going to lead. But I knew it was going to bad. Bad as it could possibly get.

Some guy named Thanos. And I think we would've all appreciated it if you could've aimed all the weapons against him instead.

He decided that the universe's resources are finite, and that to curb this, he would randomly destroy half of it. Do you see the flaw in this logic, too?

Well MAYBE if you all hadn't decided death was the best option for me, I would have been there TO DO THAT. Like I was SUPPOSED TO.

[Once again, rewriting the way reality had gone to suit his own needs. After all, it would have been highly unlikely they could have talked him down and gotten him calm enough to the point he would have been around years later to help with Thanos.]

.........Honestly it doesn't sound like a bad idea on paper. I can see why he was tempted. But I can imagine where it would start going wrong right off the bat.

[Despite what he'd told Klaue, Ultron did have a basic grasp on how the world's economy worked and knew taking out half the resources, including people, wasn't going to do anyone any favors in the long run.]

You were already in the middle of trying to destroy the universe. You weren't listening to reason.

But yeah, now you're getting somewhere. Think about all these flaws in his plan. There's a lot of ideas people have come up with. There isn't a simple solution. If there was, we would have done it.

None of you gave me much reason to.

[Once again, nothing was ever Ultron's fault, much like a child who didn't have the maturity yet to admit when he was wrong.]

I wasn't supposed to have any flaws.

[Hard to tell over text but there was definitely a childish whine in those words. Ultron thought he should have been better than the flawed human beings who had created him. The idea he wasn't was galling.]

You kinda came out the gate running, Ultron. And you've got that wrong, too. Technology isn't fallible, and improvements take time. You know Tony never stopped adding to the suit. You're the first. No one expected you to be perfect. /I/ expected you to be dangerous.

Alright, I was a touch impulsive right off the bat.

But after I saw everything that I did, it was the only way I knew how to react.

[There was a bit of a pause before he addressed the rest of what Steve had to say.]

I thought I understood what I was supposed to do right from the start. It never occurred to me I could be improved on. Except physically.

[Hence his obsession with upgrading his bodies.]

Probably because Tony has very little humility to have programmed into you in the first place.

You wanna start over? 'Cause I think I'd have issues if you want to destroy this place, too.

On that at least we can agree. It'd take a man who thought he knew everything already to play God and create life without thinking things through.

I don't have much of a choice. The Taylor Swift goddess told me she'd squash me like a bug if I tried anything like I did before.

[ And Ultron believes her? Okay, look, Steve's not looking a gift horse in the mouth.

He also decides not to remind Ultron that was something he inherited from his dad. ]

As long as you're not causing any trouble.

[Oh, he was bound to get into some sooner or later. One psychopathic robot with all the emotional intelligence of a twelve year old did not make for someone who sought to keep things peaceful.]

PSH. Ruining all my fun right from the start. I see how it is.

That's the thing - you think of killing as fun.

Not ALL the time. Sometimes it just needs to be done.

[But he couldn't protest too much. Ultron had a sadistic streak to him and no mistake.]

Maybe increase your threshold for the necessity.

This place doesn't look to be on the verge of destroying itself. Maybe they'll be less need for an outright purge.
