Texts From Last Night

Welcome to Folkmore's Texts From Last Night meme! This meme can be used as a branch off from our Test Drive Memes and be used as game canon or just for casual fun in the setting! You do not need to be in our game or be invited to play on our TFLN. (You also don't have to use TFLN itself as a source for your messages, or you can modify them for your character.) This can be a great way to meet current players for future invites, get a feel for the setting, or just have some fun.

This can be used for samples on our applications and used as spoons for players accepted into the game!

Well, I am the leader for now.

My life is living on the line; I simply know how to play my cards to reduce the likelihood of being backstabbed and murdered in most scenarios.

My, my, you do have a way with words. I can see how you made and stayed on the Council. You aren't like the others either; your dealings in illicit trade is minimal.

If one, by your own words, unfortunately dead back in Runeterra. The rocket did not feel like your play.

Those are excellent skills to have. Not foolproof, but nothing is.

I do not need to rely on illicit trade to succeed. I prefer investments that lift us all up.
[ Though Mel can admit, to herself if not interested to share it with Silco at this time, that the success of HexTech is what's brought the attention of outsiders to Piltover and Zaun. Her mother is only the first to make a bid. ]

Yet here we are having a conversation. Two dead people.

I am aware. No doubt as interesting and excellent as your own skills to avoid a knife in your back.

Oh, I am aware of your investments. Greed creeps into the pockets of Piltover same as in Zaun.

[Hextech had created considerable problems, leaving Zaun further and further behind yet again. Now it would cause war.]

Even if I may have died, it's possible to change things. I wasn't dead when I came here, and I may yet go back and survive. As I draw breath, I refuse to give up.

Different knives, but they exist eeverywhere.

I would expect no less of you to stay well informed. It has long been my goal that Hextech should help Zaun as well as Piltover.

[ She still believes it is a force for good in the world. That some people wish to use it to violent ends does not condemn it. ]

I was mortally wounded when I arrived where I am, but I received medical treatment to persist. There is always something that can be done if one has the strength of character to push forward.

Indeed. Watch your back.

[Warning or threat? He'd let her decide.]

That is smart, and I expect you are one of the few to potentially not underestimate me. Ah yes, because trickle-down economic and technological policies are a proven lip service from the rich and privilaged.
somethingrevolutionary: (mel2-129)

[personal profile] somethingrevolutionary 2024-09-08 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Congratulations on your survival. It would be unfortunate for you to be brought to another world only to die there.

[ Mel takes it as both a warning and a threat. Silco can compliment her all he likes, but he has reason enough to hate her. If he deems it a good call to stab her in the back, then he'll do so. ]

Hextech hasn't done all we set out for it to do, but the recent reality check shows good reason to do more for the people of Zaun.

Yet not unexpected. I suppose the place thought I deserved to be punished.

[As smart as she looks. Good.]

It is nice to see the threat of annihilation moves the needle in Piltover. Your fearless leader cuts the red tape better than expected.

It seems cruelty to save a man's life only to punish him further, unless there is promise of release on the far side.

It may be what moved many of my peers, but it's the injustice revealed that moved me. Yes, I admit I was blind to much of it before.
conflictresolution: (29)

[personal profile] conflictresolution 2024-09-09 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
You don't believe that such punishments are justified for certain individuals?

You know what could have also revealed the injustice? Coming to view us as we wallowed in filth and toxicity for your benefits. That is done now; you've seen the light so to speak.
somethingrevolutionary: (mel2-17)

[personal profile] somethingrevolutionary 2024-09-09 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't believe that justice comes from punishment. I would take a pound of curing the problems over a pound of flesh any day, though I know that is not how most people think.

It could have, yes. There's plenty of mistakes I've made over the years, ones that cannot be changed. Only the future.

[personal profile] conflictresolution 2024-09-09 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Such idealism. I didn't know you had it in you; aren't you just a fascinating woman? So I suppose you'll solve the problems of the undercity rather than bring to justice the one that shot the rocket into your window?

Hmmm, only the future indeed. It seems you have a second chance here. Let's see what you rouse yourself to do with it.
somethingrevolutionary: (Default)

[personal profile] somethingrevolutionary 2024-09-09 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
If I had a choice of one or the other, that'd be easy. I'd take solving the problems of the undercity in a heartbeat. Naturally, it's the harder choice, especially as so many people clamor loudly for blood to pay for blood. I may be an optimist, Mr. Silco, but I doubt everyone will survive that rocket. I will do the best I can to improve upon the conditions in the undercity and to protect both cities from outside threat, all while trying to prevent them from tearing each other to shreds. I will not be able to enact some perfect solution, only the best I can manage.

While I haven't gained much information about the state of things back home, the time to pause and to think is an advantage I will not have back there, so I must make the most of it.
conflictresolution: (51)

[personal profile] conflictresolution 2024-09-09 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
We of the undercity have learned to take care of ourselves; we don't require you for saving, just take the boot off of our throats. The cost will always be blood, and I have no issue paying with it.

And don't call me Mister. It's Silco. Most of us will never have a family name.

Duty calls, it seems.
somethingrevolutionary: (mel2-137)

[personal profile] somethingrevolutionary 2024-09-09 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Blood begets blood begets blood. It never ends. At some point, it needs to. The undercity has been robbed long enough. It's time it saw some of its resources return.

How do you show respect then?

That it does. It will, so long as I live.

[personal profile] conflictresolution 2024-09-09 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Such an advocate you are for my city. If I had known that was all it would take, I would have requested a meeting years ago.

We buy one another a drink. Otherwise, just knowing someone's name, for better or worse, carries some respect. No one wants to be in obscurity.

[He'll wait and see about how driven she actually is.]
somethingrevolutionary: (mel2-163)

[personal profile] somethingrevolutionary 2024-09-09 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I care about both cities, but of course you wouldn't know how simple it was back there. I had to play everything far closer to the chest.

There are plenty of establishments here in which to drink. People certainly know your name, Silco.
conflictresolution: (70)

[personal profile] conflictresolution 2024-09-09 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
We all have to play things closer to the chest if we want to make progress. Everyone has their dirty part to play.

Are you offering? Hopefully they know it for all the right reasons being the simple industrialist that I am.
somethingrevolutionary: (mel2-164)

[personal profile] somethingrevolutionary 2024-09-09 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I doubt I could have gotten that vote five years ago, even with the same amount of violence.

I am, though not for a simple industrialist.

[personal profile] conflictresolution 2024-09-09 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
You didn't have hextech five years previous. The Council had more to lose by their prize being weaponized.

Then for whom?
somethingrevolutionary: (mel2-129)

[personal profile] somethingrevolutionary 2024-09-10 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
I am against Hextech being weaponized, but that wasn't my commentary.

For the revolutionary who wants to see his people's lives improve.
conflictresolution: (109)

[personal profile] conflictresolution 2024-09-10 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
All technology is weaponized eventually. Best to have a handle on its creation otherwise it will be taken from you.

Appealing to my ego? The rumours about you do not lie.
somethingrevolutionary: (mel2-166)

[personal profile] somethingrevolutionary 2024-09-10 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
I have considered that thought, but one does not change the world by accepting every maxim as true.

It's also what I respect most about you, so I thought it only best that should be the side of you I buy a drink for.
conflictresolution: (68)

omg your mel is so goooooooooddddddd

[personal profile] conflictresolution 2024-09-10 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
So you work against tradition yet remain an opportunist.

Alright, I'll bite. A drink then. Name the time and place.
somethingrevolutionary: (mel2-145)

eeeee thank you, love your silco

[personal profile] somethingrevolutionary 2024-09-10 01:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I am both an idealist and a realist. Pragmatism need not be the enemy of change.

Cutting Edge in Wintermute. Tomorrow at 8 pm.

The most dangerous type of politician.

So eager to meet me. I'm flattered. I will see you then.
