Texts From Last Night

Welcome to Folkmore's Texts From Last Night meme! This meme can be used as a branch off from our Test Drive Memes and be used as game canon or just for casual fun in the setting! You do not need to be in our game or be invited to play on our TFLN. (You also don't have to use TFLN itself as a source for your messages, or you can modify them for your character.) This can be a great way to meet current players for future invites, get a feel for the setting, or just have some fun.
This can be used for samples on our applications and used as spoons for players accepted into the game!
use not required, other sources are ok too

That's what my quirk is. It's not the wings themselves, but my ability to manipulate them. They don't fly on their own, I control them telekinetically.
The weight I had to work on. A lot of training, firming up the feathers just right to support what needs supporting.
no subject
Controlling them telekinetically isn't magic? Magic is scientific where I'm from, so hey, your world, your words. I'm not the nerd to get down into exactly how that all works. I'm good at hitting stuff.
Lots of sweat and tears there huh? Plus broken feathers, I'd bet.

It's not magic or science. Quirks just are. They're not entirely sure how they came to be either, but everyone has some kind of ability. Well. Almost everyone. 80%.
You don't get to be number two without training. Yeah, feathers break and get damaged. I can grow them back. If I lost them down just to the bone, it would take three days for them to grow back.

Not magic, not science. Huh. Fuck the binary I guess. That's a higher proportion of quirky folks than we have necromancers.
I can't count how many times I've been bruised and broken training. No reason it'd be any easier for you. I'm glad losing them isn't permanent. Still has to suck to lose them. You feel that right?

Quirks are hard to study because every person's quirk is unique to them. Even if you inherit them from your parents, or parts of them from your parents.
Not even close to permanent, fortunately. It does, and I can feel them, but if I cut off the connection in time I can spare myself the pain. Depends on how I'm going to lose the feathers. I take the hit if I'm doing something I know will hurt but it's for the better good.

I know some magic users are used to that idea. It's much less a science, but it's so hard to wrap my head around the idea. Not that I don't understand quirks, you don't want me to explain necromancy if you want to get into the nitty gritty of the theorems, but that other smarter people can't study and understand it. So wild! (We have, admittedly, had ten thousand years, but they cracked a lot in the first couple centuries).
Cool shit, buddy. It would be super cool to have something like that. Sorta a feathery version of Harrow and her bone constructs, except they don't generally fly.

Yeah it's what, third and fourth generation right now? That's not that long for people to have quirks and with them being so varied, the best they can do is determine if it's one of three types. Mine's a mutant-type. You can tell because I don't look entirely human. Quirks like mine have permanent appearance changes.
It's really handy for hero work.

Guess they might need more generations with all the variety. What would I know. Clearly they need it if they haven't cracked it. They're still at the descriptive sorting phase. What are the other categories? Is mutant-type the coolest? Yours is pretty dang cool.
You ought to meet the other superheroes around these parts.

There are emitter types, which require conscious thought to activate, and are by far the most common. Anything from quirks with your voice, to manipulating things like fire. Basically it's anything that alters things around you.
Then there are the transformation type where people change their bodies temporarily. They pretty much only affect the user and they're the least likely type to encounter.
Mutant-type quirks are considered the least desirable, partly because aspects of the quirk can be passed down without passing on the actual quirk, and it always changes the user's appearance permanently. That and the quirk tends to affect people in multiple ways as opposed to just one. Some people think heteromorphs are a mistake, and most of them have unique challenges to them that don't affect ordinary people.

Look, if people are having health issues do to mutant-type quirks, don't be a bunch of assholes. Help them the fuck out. (I am guessing this is not people's solutions as a society, and fuck that).
no subject
It's not just health issues, but basic things just aren't made for heteromorphs. Most things don't account for my wings, for example. Clothes, furniture, pretty much everything. I'm not complaining of course, I'm just pointing it out. Every heteromorph has different traits so it would be hard to predict and adapt, you know?
no subject
Heteromorphs would do great in the Ninth House. We were always reusing and resewing clothes to make them work for the next person. Easy to make that work for anyone. Plus, bones. Bones everywhere, and since it's the bone adept house, necromancy can reshape the fuck out of shit. Not that it's perfect. You'd basically be a monk* (this is an exaggeration, not everyone in the house is a nun or monk, case in point me), but just saying...
Still, it sounds like your society hasn't cared to solve those problems. If they'd tried and failed a bunch more, it still might not be perfect, but it'd be a lot better.
no subject
Yeah, it's a big issue. One I can't really get into, but a big issue all the same.
no subject
We're here, not there. It's your choice what to get into. You know, unless it turns into a trial thing, in which case, do with that as you will.
no subject
It isn't, not really. I better be on decent behaviour, just in case.
no subject
See, you wouldn't get dragged half-conscious down the stairs to the main hall.
no subject
Ah, been there, done that.

Story time!

That's boring, besides, that's classified darling. ;)
no subject
Classified makes it interesting, and I'm not a narc. I won't tell.
no subject
I believe you, however, my lips are sealed.
no subject
Respect, respect. Proving your own trustworthiness.
no subject
Well, I couldn't be a top hero if I didn't know the meaning of discretion.
