Texts From Last Night

Welcome to Folkmore's Texts From Last Night meme! This meme can be used as a branch off from our Test Drive Memes and be used as game canon or just for casual fun in the setting! You do not need to be in our game or be invited to play on our TFLN. This can be a great way to meet current players for future invites, get a feel for the setting, or just have some fun.

This can be used for samples on our applications and used as spoons for players accepted into the game!

Yes. I'm telepathic.

....you could say that. It's a rather long story, I'm certain the details would just bore someone.

Sometimes it is. Sometimes it isn't. There's a lot more downtime here than I'm used to. Which can be both a good and bad thing. Too much time to think never does me well.

I can imagine that being both a gift and a curse.

I'm pretty impervious to boredom if the inkling ever strikes you. I went to live in an Amish community when I was younger thinking it would expand my world view... that's boring. Also a very short story.

I hear you. People say focusing on the future helps.

It's a double edged sword. I lost it once before so I know with certainty I'd never want to be without it. But it has it's...problems.

That sounds considerably worse than when my parents shipped me off to spend a summer in the mountains with sheep farmers.

If they saw the futures I have, they wouldn't say that.

Were you born with it? Or did it happen by some other means?

Sheep farmers, huh... what did they expect you to learn from that? Discipline? Felting?

Think you can prevent them?

I'm a mutant, luv. We're born that way but our powers, whatever those may end up being, don't trigger until we hit puberty.

I'm going to be a bit honest, I'm perturbed you guessed discipline. That means the choice may have made sense in some way.
[ parent's having a point, utterly terrible ]

Some have been prevented already but the world that came from them still exists. The multiverse in my own world is a bit...strange

I'd say you're lucky, but I'm sure that's ignorant. Life can already be hard enough-- being different must make it a little more-so.

Only to disturbed people-- or people easily influenced. It sounds like one of those old-school tactics people use because a friend-of-a-friend's-problematic child was spiraling out of control for listening to rock music or something. Insane.

Though to be fair I did have a compound in the Alps-- but the people who were there were there by choice.

I suppose there is some comfort in knowing realities can't be erased entirely by one's actions. That's... pretty complicated.

I see it as lucky to have my abilities, but unlucky to live in a world that's less than fond of us.

Funny you should say that. It was about them believing I was spiraling. Probably a rather good thing they can't see me now.

Should I even ask about what sort of 'compound' you had?

Eventually you begin to get used to it. For better or worse.

Do you think your gift has any kind of special purpose? Or is it just an emphasized aspect of yourself?

Sometimes it is. Think they'd still send you to a sheep farm?

It was nice. Peaceful even. Great people-- the kindest I've met in my life. I was happy to call it home. Then someone came and wrecked it-- turns out he was the "good guy".

Hopefully more better than worse.

I've never thought too much on it. Most mutant gifts are rather random in nature and our personalities often develop around them. But I did always dream of being a warrior as a child and my gifts have led to that.

I think they'd do far worse than that.

I take it you don't agree with him being the good guy?

Unfortunately, not.
