Exactly. Now you can still knife a guy before he draws his gun, and depending on the ability, it may be possible to ambush someone. Overall, though, it's no contest. The non-combat ability users stay out of the way.

How many ability users are there in comparison to the ungifted?

I don't know exactly. It's definitely a minority. A small but extremely notable their existence and use in the military sparked a world war minority.

The most entrenched battle happened far away from major city centers. Mostly, it's the fact the world is so full of people that even though so many died, even more remained.

It's both pointless and not pointless at the same time. People took a point and drove it past the point of making sense.

How do they determine who wins?

There was a peace treaty. People spin that however they want for winning and losing. For everyone else, it's how life goes. Ability users are here to stay.

Was this war an attempt to eradicate ability users?

[geodesics]

It was over different ideas around ability users and the way that abilities can alter the battlefield. At least at the outset. It seems like fighting became the purpose of fighting in the end.

And did you survive the war?

[It would seem obvious, but Makie is dead, after all. No reason Chuuya isn't, either.]

The war was like fifteen years ago. I was just a kid. I wasn't in the war.

One assumes such wars are rare enough you will not have to suffer through one yourself. I will hope so, at least.
