No. I think it helps I have memories of what will happen if I don’t refuse to fall. I grew up with tales of what happens when you let yourself become something terrible.

The combine means I won’t give in. I won’t bend to something trying to drive me to madness. I refuse to mirror the tales my father told over the campfire.

The king goes mad and breaks his kingdom. The alchemist lets in things beyond and ushers in a calamity. History lessons about what not to do and how not to be arrogant. Things like that.

Sounds like your tales did a better job with lessons than the ones from my childhood.

Yes, they certainly were a very loud cautionary tale. My elders made sure to tell them often.

I never thought to ask. I haven’t seen them in quite some time. But they at least think it was smart to tell a child horrific history lessons.

Hey, it embedded those lessons into you! The only thing my childhood lessons instilled into me as a kid was god sucks.

Oh no, I learned the opposite of the lessons they tried to teach me. They burned people alive in god's name and all. Really instills in you a 'god sucks' mentality when you don't agree with it.

The land I live in now I was raised knowing the god of freedom wanted us to do as we pleased. People live as they want to and that’s how I met Diluc. He was a cute kid. Bubbly and happy back then. He looked like living fire to me.

People should live as they want and not just because some god wants it for them.

He does. But the type of fire is entirely different.
