Texts From Last Night

Welcome to Folkmore's Texts From Last Night meme! This meme can be used as a branch off from our Test Drive Memes and be used as game canon or just for casual fun in the setting! You do not need to be in our game or be invited to play on our TFLN. This can be a great way to meet current players for future invites, get a feel for the setting, or just have some fun.
This can be used for samples on our applications and used as spoons for players accepted into the game!

[A faint shrug as he lets the illusion drop, though there's a faint darkening at the tips of his ears at the question that follows. His own damn fault for not curating the illusion for that, but he was still rather unused to people not knowing stuff like this.]
Nah. Suppose there wasn't enough orc in the mix or somethin' like that. [That sounded reasonable enough, right?
Roll insight, Rogue! Surely you could beat a 10!]when you roll a nat 20 sorry fjord
[It's the embarrassment that gives it away, the fact that it looks as though her question catches him off guard. She stares at him with a look that reverberates "bitch stop lying to me" and puts the hand not holding the utensil on her hip.]
But you got all the other orc traits? Like your lovely green skin an' stunnin' eyes?
[Unlike him, she's absolutely not lying. Green's her favorite color and she's always like pairing yellow with it.]
I mean this is what he deserves
He is going to however inwardly swear at himself for somehow not keeping a lid on his shit enough that she'd picked up on it. Clearly hung over him was not having a good day for pretending to be Fine.
And pay no attention to the person-equivalent of the 45-degree puppy headtilt as she's complimenting him, because what? That doesn't make sense that doesn't compute at all-]
Yes...? [Is this a trap? It feels like a trap.]

Ah'm a mutant--a genetic variation of humans. Our mutations often give us abilities an' unique physical features. [The hand on her hip lifts to touch the shock of white in her hair.] Mah brother looks like a fuzzy blue elf, with a tail an' glowin' yellow eyes. He can teleport and is one of the best people an' fighters with a sword that ah know.
[Which should explain why she objectively finds him attractive, but she can see how deep his esteem issues run. It's something she's experienced and seen as a teacher at the mutant school.]
An' he's just an inch taller than me. [So, smaller than Fjord.
As though an internal timer goes off, Rogue turns off the stove and plates the eggs with the bacon, tugging a glove off to steal a piece before handing him the plate with her gloved hand. She pops the bacon in her mouth.]
So 'bout your... Teeth?
[Bet he thought she'd forgotten, huh?]

[And from his tone as he speaks on these options, it's clear he doesn't hold nearly the same discomfort about the idea of them as he does himself. Everyone else was fine, it was just he himself that didn't measure up.
Whatever the case, he resists the urge to brush back his own witch's streak, not thinking about how he only had it after he got his weird new powers too. At least the description of her brother is a distraction from that.]
He sounds pretty cool. Can't say teleportin' isn't dead useful.
[The plate was accepted when it was offered, the half-orc murmuring a thanks. And thinking at first that he'd dodged the uncomfortable conversation, he was brought up short by her bringing it up again.
Damn!]
W-what about 'em? [When in doubt, play dumb! But the continued darker green along his ears hinted that he knew this was a weak attempt at diversion on his part.]

She doesn't recognize them.] It's genetic though. Mah brother looks a lot like his father, but he's blue like his mother.
[The mutant's quick to pick up that the issue is far more close to home, which she can rightly emphasize with him. She's nowhere to where she wants to be on her own self confidence journey, but helping others at the school has helped her. Baby steps.]
It sure is, but it's got its limitations. [She grins, and there's a sadness to it.] He really is great. Ah'll miss him here.
[She's pressing a bit on his teeth, but she honestly won't press much further.]
Let's just say that ah think you'd look good with or without them. Do they have a particular meanin' to orcs?

[He knew that some families would range out far and wide like that, but others? They stuck together. Fiercely so, with a bond and loyalty towards each other that he was a bit envious of. Or more than a little. But that was neither here nor there, with Rogue asking about his tusks, earning a tinge of darker green along the edges of his ears.]
I... can't rightly say? Haven't really had much interaction with many orcs myself, and it never really came up in conversation. Wouldn't be surprisin' if there was some sort of meaning attached in some group or another really.]
