It is quaint, like an old village. Not a Japanese one exactly, but an old village preserved in time.

And water.

It reminds me a touch on the inside of the Nightbrother village I once lived in and that is a good feeling for me.

[ Chuuya doesn't look down his city nose at Maul for being from a village. He's from a village too. Only, he cannot remember it. All he has is a photo his friends gave him. A single photo. And no memories, even when he visited it. ]

What's a Nightbrother village like? [ What's a nightbrother, besides, obviously, this guy. ]

A tough place to grow up in. But Dathomir is dangerous in general. You learn early on to listen to the older Nightkin if you want to survive. The village only survives as long as everyone works together to make it so. Still, it was the place I was happiest in my youth and for that I have fond memories of it.

The best or happiest place to live isn't something once person can dictate. If you liked it, you like it. That's that. Dangerous sounds like you might have gotten to fight a lot, and that sounds like fun to me.

Precisely. Nightbrothers consider fighting and hunting two of the best past-times to spend with a group. There is a ferocious spirit among the entire species.

[After all, he was more scared of any Nightsister wielding magic than he was any of the Nightbrothers, whom he felt more confident taking on.]

I'll agree with you on one of two of those. It sounds like an exciting place to live. If you still like hunting, I've heard of there being dangerous beasts in Cruel Summer and Exile.

Perhaps I shall go hunting. I have the perfect weapon for it right now.

Do tell me: what is the perfect weapon for hunting?

Some sort of... halberd. All right. It gives you range and multiple ways to attack.

If it can stand up to taking down rathtars, it will be able to take on anything here.

Heh. I'm my own weapon. Me and anything I use.

I know how that is as well. Sometimes, the most dangerous weapon a person can have is themselves.

It's the only thing you're guaranteed to have in any fight. Yourself.

I learned to kill in so many ways just using my own form. Sometimes, I think I should branch out and get more creative in the ways I murder again.

[geodesics]

What have you fallen back on time and again now? [ Chuuya, not bothered at all by the casual talk of murder. ]

[survivalthroughhate]

My saberstaff most often. Or Force-choking an opponent if I want to take my time with them.

[geodesics]

Force-choking. Does that involve physical contact? [ It sounds vaguely familiar, but Chuuya can't place it. There's enough stories out there that play with the ideas of abilities of all types, what with them being a thing in his world. ]

[survivalthroughhate]

No. Actually, it's the opposite. You telekinetically strangle someone without ever actually touching them. It's still quite satisfying.

[geodesics]

[ Hmmm. That's a potential threat. Chuuya considers ways to counter it, but anyone with telepathic powers could prove... an interesting challenge. ]

Is there some sort of feedback for you to feel it? It doesn't seem satisfying without that.

[survivalthroughhate]

When you Force Choke someone, the Dark Side is flowing through you. You can feel the life energy of the person the person drain and fade away until there is nothing left.

[geodesics]

All right. I can see that being satisfying. Boring if no one can ever fight back but satisfying.

[survivalthroughhate]

That is why I save it more for the use of intimidation and torture. Killing someone up close and personal is a much more intimate and satisfying experience.

[geodesics]

We have specialists for torture and interrogation. I could do it, but I prefer it when people can fight back. That's more fun.
