Welcome to Folkmore's Texts From Last Night meme, April Fools edition! See, Thoth learned about April Fools from reading Chaucer but enjoys that it's an ongoing thing. Thoth's switched things up. Initial messages (aka top levels)—all set April 1st ICly—maaaaay go to the wrong person! So not all hell breaks loose, replies carry forward with whoever you've reached, but you might be texting your innermost intoxicated or sleep deprived secret to someone you don't even know.

If you'd like to opt out of misfires, please include this in your top level (by prompt or overall). Otherwise, enjoy indulging Thoth's amusement and building some new CR.

This meme can be used as a branch off from our Test Drive Memes and be used as game canon or just for casual fun in the setting! You do not need to be in our game or be invited to play on our TFLN. This can be a great way to meet current players for future invites, get a feel for the setting, or just have some fun.

This can be used for samples on our applications and as spoons for players accepted into the game.

Alright. Since I am on the path of self-betterment, I shall do it.

[ Gideon sets up her relic and turns on a video connection. It's pointed toward her where she gets in a push up position and starts doing pushups. It's not a race. Steady. ]

What are you thinking about?

[And there was Maul, shirtless, and clearly having been at this a while.]

Just about whether or not I'm on the right path. It took a long time for someone to tell me it was alright to be angry all the time if that's what I wanted to be.

[ It's curious to see Maul without a shirt on—not for sexual reasons, she's into women, but because he isn't human, so she wasn't entirely sure what to expect. Gideon listens. ]

Mmhmm. What is it about your path right now you're concerned about?

[ She understands the anger. Gideon spent nearly her entire childhood angry. All the time. She's still angry a lot with a hot temper. It's all right to be angry, yes, but she's done some shit in her anger she knows isn't okay. ]

[Indeed, the most striking thing is how those tattoos cover his entire body. They were clearly done with care and precision, meant to be symmetrical and fit the curves of his form.]

That I might fall back into my old ways and let it overtake me. It's easy. The Dark Side makes it so. For darkness is far easier to live in than the light ever is.

[ Gideon doesn't even realize they are tattoos. They could be natural. Why not? Plenty of animals, as she's learned in Folkmore, have patterns. Like freckles turned up to 11. ]

Okay. It's possible. Have you done it yet?

[ Since he's worried, the answer is no. ]

Not yet. But there is always the chance here without the stabilizing forces I am used to that it shall happen. All it takes is one bad mental manipulation and-- [He paused sitting upright for a moment and snapped his claws.] --There I go, off to murder my way out of a situation.

[ A couple key phrases here. Positive outcome: stabilizing forces. Negative stimulus: mental manipulation. Which. That could be a person, or it could be how he interacts with a trial, how it plays on his emotions. Gideon remembers confronting Lavender in their office. Fortunately (?), the principal was ready for it. Kicked Gideon right back into the trial. She can still see how that might have gone in a different murder-y direction if it'd been aimed at Star Children. So, she gets ya. Gideon has anger issues (or the thankfully never accidentally committed murder type, but she's seen what her dad does). ]

Hmmm. A few thoughts, but I'll start with one question. One at a time. [ Gideon keeps doing pushups even as Maul sits there. ] What stabilizing forces are you used to?

[ Gideon mostly expects people, but she'd be happy with some routine or whatever. That could be easily done here. That's why she expects it to be people not here. ]

[Maul switched from push-ups to sit-ups instead, talking as he went along. Though he'd known Gideon only a short amount of time, he found she was easy to talk to and understood him well.]

People. My family and friends mostly. The good ones who can pull me back when I myself can't see that I'm going too far.

[ There it is. People as expected. It's hardly surprising. People are the answer to so much. Plus, everyone needs an external perspective sometimes. Being willing to listen is important. ]

How could you get something like that here?

[ Gideon has ideas, but she knows she can be her most bullheaded when someone tries to tell her what to do. She's certainly not one of those good ones to Maul right now. They're just getting to know each other. Thankfully, the silence is filled in by pushups on her part. ]

It requires a lot of patience, trust, and kindness for me to find someone like that for me. There are one or two here already that came from Trench and my own galaxy. The rest, I suppose, shall come with time.

[He just needed to find some sunshiney sorts on the light side who wanted to take on a project of his magnitude.]

Absolutely. Anyone who can have that kind of effect on you. [ Gideon whistles. ] That requires a lot of trust.

That sounds good. [ Gideon pauses as she does another rep, considering her wording. ] What else could help you here?

Indeed. And I don't trust easily.

[Winning Maul over required very certain kinds of personalities. Not just anyone could do it.]

A good fight once in a while. Fighting centers me and evens out my emotions. It is a form of meditation for me.

[He even had a T-shirt that said that! The Sith Lord knew that obviously wasn't the case for everyone but Maul was a bit unique like that in his mindset.]

A discerning taste. [ A pushup. ] It puts you at a disadvantage in a new place.

Fighting can ground me, or it can get me kind of high and floaty? I don't know how to describe it well. I go running regularly, especially when it's dark out, and I like that for me.

[ She smiles. The sunglasses may be a giveaway or may not. Sunlight can be a dick. ]

Have you gotten to fight here much? Perhaps at Agrona?

[Maul did a few more sit-ups as he spoke, a small sheen of sweat starting to appear on his skin. He'd been at this for a while now.]

Not as much as I would have liked. It is hard to find opponents that are at my level. I spend more time teaching than I do sparring with others.

[ Gideon grins. God she remembers the time she fought Erik in the middle of Leshy. It was so much fun. ]

Trust me, no matter your level, there's someone else here at it. It's a matter of finding them.

Perhaps I should put out a call on the network for people who would like to come spar with me?

That would work. Sure you might sweep the floor with some people, but others will give you a good fight. You might even find yourself the broom.

[ Gideon grins. ]

I'd spar you. I don't have magic or anything, but I'm good with a sword and hard to take down.

If I cannot find someone stronger than me to fight, that would rather satisfying.

[That meant Maul would have a goal to aspire to in beating them.]

I would enjoy that. When shall we meet up?

I'm at Agrona multiple times a week for a few hours a day. Don't do all my training there. So uh, some Tuesday afternoon?

Tuesday works. Though before lunch, not after. I have a feeling we'll both work up an appetite after such a bout.

Ooooookay. I prefer not to be too full when sparring, but hey, there's always eating extra meals in a day. That's a thing here. Eat when hungry.

Indeed. I have been on the hunt to discover the best pizza place in all of Folkmore.

As much as I've eaten most everywhere I can, Tides being an exception because huge, I'm not sure what I'd say the best pizza place is. Possibly my spoon because all my desires for the pizza get translated into reality.

I shall keep you updated on my opinions. Pizza is one of the best things Earth produced despite being such a primitive planet.
