This Test Drive meme is open to all.
Welcome to Folkmore's monthly Test Drive Meme! Please feel free to test drive any and all characters regardless of your intent to apply or whether you have an invite or not.

All TDMs are game canon and work like "mini-events". For new players and characters, you can choose to have your TDM thread be your introduction thread upon acceptance or start fresh. Current players are also allowed to have in-game characters post to the TDM so long as they mark their top levels ‘Current Character.’

TDM threads can be used for spoon spending at any time by characters accepted into the game.

Playing and interacting with the TDMs will allow characters to immediately obtain canon items from homes especially weapons or other things they may have had on their person when they were pulled from their worlds! There will always be a prompt that provides some sort of "reward" to characters who complete certain tasks.

Current players are always encouraged to tag new people on the TDM!


🦊 New Star Children meet the Fox still in their worlds, and she brings them into the new realm of Folkmore. As you follow her, your body begins to change and new characteristics emerge. These may stay for a while, or perhaps they will hide away after. And during all of this, the Fox explains to you where you will be going: to Folkmore.

and then... you fall like a shooting star, falling to the land in a burst of starlight.


🦊 Experienced Star Children are already familiar with this time of the month. There are shooting stars all across the sky, and some fall to the land, which means the Fox has brought new arrivals. These newly arrived Star Children will face some tests, but Thirteen wants the more seasoned residents to participate as well.

Perhaps you follow the falling stars on your own, or perhaps the Fox simply teleports you there, but it appears you too will be part of this.

Content Warnings: Forced Relocation, Forced Sharing, Potential Violence & Harm

New Star Children arrive in Wintermute. Not at the hot springs, the school, or anywhere else near civilization. They arrive in the middle of white, snowy nowhere. The good news is that Wintermute is no longer dark twenty-four seven. There is enough light to avoid crevasses, blocked up wells, and other dangerous features of the landscape. Further, no one is expected to figure out how to get out of there on their own.

Usually Thoth finds the lost travelers in the cold expanse of Wintermute. However, she's busy exploring the multiverse for new and interesting ideas for technology. Not to fret! She hasn't abandoned ye who've entered here. There's a new emergency lost and found network:

The Wandering Dog food carts are now open twenty-four seven! The dogs work in shifts, but the food remains as delicious as ever. When a Star Child gets lost in Wintermute, another Star Child will happen to be buying food from a Wandering Dog somewhere in Folkmore. One such lucky unlucky Star Child gets transported to the School of Thoth. Specifically, to where the mechanical sled dogs hang out. They receive a warm winter coat over whatever they were wearing and another one on hand for whoever they are rescuing. Then it's off across the snow! Don't worry, non-mushing experts, the dogs know what they're doing and lead the sled right to the designated lost Star Child.

The rescuee gets to lay in the sled for the ride back, wrapped up warm and cozy in their new winter coat (it may be spring, but it's always cold in Wintermute). The sled dogs bring Star Children back to the hot springs, so that they can warm up even more. Alternatively, Star Children can explore the Cutting Edge, the School of Thoth, or something else in Wintermute. However, the Star Children cannot part ways or leave Wintermute immediately.

The sled dogs, yes the whole team, will stay with the pair to enforce this. They may surround the pair like a pack, cuddle pile on top of them, or lay around the edges of a hot spring. No matter how long it takes to realize the dogs are doing this and that there's a reason for it, Star Children will eventually find instructions in one of the dogs' collars: Share something that other people have refused to listen to you about. Everyone ought to be listened to.

Only once both Star Children have shared something with each other will the dogs let them part ways and see, perhaps, the rest of Folkmore.

On the walk to Akhlut Station, Star Children will see plain weapons sticking out of the snow: swords, guns, knives. These are simple, non-magical practical weapons. Experienced Star Children may know to suspect such free offerings, but nothing immediately happens upon picking one up. However, once on the train, the train will be attacked by frost spirits. These icy spirits must either be hacked to pieces until they can no longer reform or melted with fire. Innocent passengers who didn't pick up a weapon may be forced to get involved, but the frost spirits will be most focused on those who picked up weapons.

• New Star Children arrive in remote areas of Wintermute.
• Star Children buying food from The Wandering Dog get teleported to the School of Thoth to rescue people with a team of sled dogs.
• Star Children get amazing new winter coats!
• Star Children cannot part ways until they share something others have refused to listen to! The dogs enforce this.

• Anyone who picks up one of those weapons will see their train get attacked by frost spirits.

Content Warnings: Potential Forced Participation, Potential Harm

Thoth has been listening to any and all ideas people have had around science in the last few months. Whether they were shower thoughts or a discussion between scientific colleagues or anywhere in between, she's made her list and built every one as an experiment. On a human scale. A human test subject scale. Because every idea has merit. That's right: Thoth believes in you.

Posters saying Thoth Needs You! go up around Folkmore. They offer a reward for participating in an experiment. Simply tear off a piece of paper from the bottom of the poster, and at some point in the future, you're in. Now, there might be a little hiccup here or there. These posters are experimental too! So some Star Children who don't tear off a slip might get pulled into an experiment as well. (Who said Thirteen ought to recruit for her trials? Thoth listened… or she tried.) Oh well, at least it's all in the name of science!

Perhaps Star Children need to sing Baby It's Cold Outside to convince the other to stay (it really will be cold outside). Perhaps they have a choice of spinners, buttons, levers, or other devices to interact with. Perhaps they make their way through a maze. Perhaps they try a new contraption. Perhaps they even recognize their own idea come to life! There's a multitude of new tech to try, and it has not been safety tested.

Nothing will explode. Probably. Maybe. Okay, some experiments are definitely going to have explosions. How about pressing that button anyway and finding out if it's this one?

Once Star Children survive the experiment—and they will, Thoth may be a loose cannon of a scientist, but she's ensured that much—they will emerge from one of the School of Thoth's laboratories. Togo, the grey wolf mascot, waits on the other side with an item for each test subject: an item from home. This may even be a weapon or magical item.

No one is left to the cold to fend for themselves. One of the nearby classrooms has been set up as a first aid center. Dog spirits of all sizes, from the smallest Maltipoo spirit to the largest Great Dane spirit, staff a healing clinic and will treat any injuries Star Children received in the experiments (or already sported). They offer hot lemonade—lemon juice, molasses, and hot water—to everyone to warm their soul. Injured Star Children can find a corner to rest by themselves or company with which to discuss their experiments.

• Pick a paper tab off a Thoth Needs You! poster to participate. Or don’t. A mishap may bring Star Children there regardless.
• Do science! Be a human experiment! Maybe experience explosions!
• Togo, the Thoth mascot, will have an item from home for every Star Child who participates.
• Dog spirits man (dog?) a first aid center in a nearby classroom.

Lost & Found - Wandering

It’s cold.

That’s the first thing Matt’s senses take in. It’s cold and the suit he wore for court is not enough to keep the cold out. He takes a few breaths as he gets to his feet and tries to orient himself but there’s not much for his senses to take in. He seems to be in some sort of wide field up to his knees in snow. There’s maybe some sort of forest in the distance. There’s the faint scent of sugar-sap on the wind. His cane won’t do him any good in these conditions so he folds it up and tucks it in an interior pocket of his suit jacket.

Then Matt starts walking towards the scent of trees.

As he gets closer a few things become clearer. He has found some sort of forest. The trees block the wind which makes it slightly warmer but Matt’s shivering even with his hands tucked under his arms. There’s not much civilization around here.

There’s usually the buzz of electricity. The rumble of the subway. Even in Central Park the noise of the city is constant. For Matt, at least. But here in… wherever he is, there are no city sounds. It’s pure nature. This is the cleanest air Matt has ever smelled.

He stops suddenly, standing up straight and cocks his head to one side. Matt focuses on his hearing as far out as he can and yes, that’s the sound of… dogs and a sled? He’s confident on the dogs and there’s a jingling sound that makes him think belt buckles. Maybe a harness?

Even though the snow absorbs a lot of vibrations Matt still crouches and presses his fingers to the ground trying to get a better sense of which direction they’re coming from and how close they are.

Matt stands and starts running towards the sound. “Hey!” he shouts, hoping to get the attention of the dogs. “Over here!”

Lost & Found - Train Station

Finally, something Matt is familiar with.

It’s oddly reassuring to hear the electric hum of a third rail. Matt can’t feel the rumble of a train yet but waiting on the platform in the cold - made less cold by his new comfortable jacket - it’s almost like he’s back in Hell’s Kitchen. The air is too clean for Matt to pretend but it’s nice to have something familiar in his senses.

Now, the unspoken rules of New York are you don’t talk to strangers on the subway platform. You stand quietly until the train arrives and then you stand or sit quietly when the train gets moving. Matt, unlike other commuters, can’t waste the time by looking at his phone. There’s really no point. He sometimes brings books on the subway when he takes it but generally he tries to avoid the assault on his senses.

Just standing there he examines things around him mostly by idly tapping his cane on the platform. The sound waves bounce around and back to him painting a clear picture of the platform around him.

There’s something sticking out of the ground nearby that catch Matt’s interest. It lights up in the soundwaves like a spear but that seems unusual. New York subway platforms have all sorts of strange things on them and strange people but a spear? He hasn’t encountered that.

Matt still can’t feel the rumble of a train coming so he walks over to the object and runs his fingers over it. Yes, it’s definitely a spear. There’s a wooden shaft and a bit of leather around the base of the blade. Matt continues to stroke his fingers carefully over the blade and he realizes it’s a yari.

He’s never fought with one but he’s familiar with the Japanese straight spear from general knowledge. It feels like a su yari with it’s simple straight double edged blade.

Huh.

He’s still carefully examining the weapon when he hears footsteps coming to the platform.

No Dumb Ideas

Matt’s not sure what he’s sensing.

It sounds very much like a tank of water. Smells like it too. He’s already explored the console in front of him with his hands and there were a lot of buttons and a few levers, none of which were labeled in braille to indicate what they did. There’s also a definite electric hum running through all of this.

He doesn’t even know how he got here. Much like when he arrived in the snow he was just suddenly brought to this room with no instruction. Matt thinks of Stick and his ‘tests’ but those he knew what was expected of him. Pass or kick his ass handed to him.

This machine? In his world on fire makes no sense. He can’t figure out what he’s supposed to do which is why it’s a relief when he hears another heartbeat. A person blooms to life in his senses and Matt breathes out a sigh.

“Hi,” he says with an awkward smile, twisting his hands together with a touch of nervousness. “Uh, I’m not sure what’s going on.”

He gestures over his shoulder towards the machine behind him. “I think I’m supposed to do something with that but I don’t know what it is. It’s not helpfully labeled. Do you mind telling me what you can see?”

Usually his red tinted glasses and cane will clue people in that he’s blind. He’s got his cane held in one hand and hopefully some of his nervous fidgeting will keep the awkward questions down. He’s ready for them though.

"Matt?" Jen says, almost to herself, as she steers the dogsled closer to the sound. "Matt!" she waves her arm in the air for a split second before she realizes that's not going to help him see her any better. Instead, she gets the dogs to run faster, skidding to a halt a little ways in front of him.

"Looks like you need a lift, stranger." Jen says playfully. "This is where I'd honk my horn if this was a car." A beat, before turning to the metal dogs pulling her sled. "Could one of you guys...?" A mechanical dog barks twice. "Good boy!"

"Here," she says passing him a warm coat.

Arrival

[Gwen is really regretting listening to that fox right now. Why had this seemed like a good idea?

And why had she made her spider-suit with such thin fabric? She shivers again, arms wrapping tight around her middle, but it does nothing to keep the chill of the frozen tundra from blowing right through her skin and right into her bones. Taking the hood of her suit, she tugs it over her head to keep her head marginally warmer as she trudges forward another step in the tall snow. And then another. Thank god for Hobie's chucks, or her feet would have frozen solid by now if she'd still been wearing her ballet slippers. Although the snow is starting to melt through the fabric of even those shoes.

Hopefully she's headed in the right direction to safety. When she'd landed here after the initial cursing, she'd picked a direction and started walking. There aren't any trees, so webbing her way out of the snow is impossible. There's also the matter that her webshooters are missing, along with her multi-versal wristband. Maybe she should be thankful she'd been brought here with clothes at all. Shivering, she trudges on. She's no idea how long she's walked, legs feeling like lead weights are being added to them with each step. She thinks, maybe she sees something in the distance. A person? A village? Lights? Or maybe it's all just a hallucination.

She lifts a white gloved arm which might be hard to spot in the snow and calls out, the sound swallowed up in the wind as she collapses into the snow.]

Sword Fight

[Does Gwen know how to sword fight? Absolutely not. Had she plucked a short sword out of the snow before hopping onto the train? Possibly. But it had been shiny and cool looking. These kinds of things happen.

The sword is more of an afterthought when the frost spirits invade her train car. Gwen leaps at them, leaving the weapon behind as she tosses one down the walkway with more ease than her small stature would indicate. And then she kicks another right out the open train door. The frost spirit sails out the door and splats on the ground outside. She catches the eye of another passenger and gestures to the now out of sight spirit.] No ticket.

Experiments

[She might be a nerd and loves a good experiment, but these all look pretty questionable. And there's another thing. She'd definitely not signed up for this. Gwen had seen the flyers, of course, but hadn't taken one. Dragged over to a contraption, she's told to pull a lever when the countdown hits zero.

Her eyes scan the device. A lot of gears. And blades? And what looks suspiciously like a hot wheels car on a track covered in matches.] I love a good Rube Goldberg machine as much as the next gal... but this is a bit much.

[And it's for sure going to end in an explosion. Or at least some third degree burns.]

[Well, Peter had been minding his own business back home, nowhere near Wintermute. One second, he's getting his shoes on, grabbing his keys to shove in his pocket, the next he's standing in Wintermute with a coat on, and a coat slung over his shoulder. Food being pressed into his gloved hands by the dogs.

At this point, Peter just sighs a little, used to Thirteen's weird whims.]

Well, uh, thank you- [He's on the verge of handing the food back when he notices a shape in the far distance. With the winter winds whipping snow around he nearly doesn't see Gwen.]

Gotta go, thank you again, dogs! [And he stuffs the hot wrapped food in his pocket to take off in that direction. He can't web his way there, but he can run faster than an average person.

Enough so he manages to reach Gwen after she's hit the ground. The fact she's in a Spider suit throws him off for a second before he moves to crouch down, trying to rouse her.]

C'mon! You gotta get up!

i.     dashing, dashing.

( the last thing she remembers is the trail of something red, and a wisp of frigid wind. the next time she blinks, there's nothing but white surrounding her — large flecks of snow landing atop her cheeks with a gasp, suddenly aware of the alarming drop in temperature. it takes her a moment to gain her bearings, fingers brushing along her crown where she swears she can remember the phantom-ache of something growing, twittering in place as if alive. unbeknownst to her is the pair of doe ears, soft and tuft with fur, humming dormantly beneath the surface.

arms wind about her figure, the crop of her top and a leather skirt doing little to none to stave out the cold that bites at every bit of exposed skin, the powder of snow flooding into red boots with every step. mouth parts, but tongue seems too stunned to cooperate, clearing her throat and turning on her heel at the distant sound of... something, hitting the ground like a group of pulses and brushing atop the snowy tundra.

faintly, amidst the flurry blustering like a thick fog around her, she spots the graceful leaps of sled dogs drawing nearer. )

H-hello? ( her voice is swallowed, but fear as to whether or not the passerby might spot her doesn't have much time to diminish before it's evident the sled seems to route directly towards her. limbs stumble slightly to the side as it comes to a halt — a winter coat being held out in offering. )

ii.     climb on in.

( the hot springs hang on the edge of the mountain where the dogs decidedly settle in to rest, the heat rising from the water in tendrils, almost mocking the arctic air. it seems foolish not to take advantage, but perhaps that's what stirs at her so uneasily to begin with - like the open mouth of a trap. the fur-lined coat had done wonders to bring her from rigid shivering to at least something manageable, but she knows it's not warm enough, not for long. merlot hues land on her company, hoping their familiarity will serve to guide her, if they have it.

meanwhile, the dogs begin to lay as if to form a makeshift wall — whether to keep them in or some of the snow out, she can't be sure. ) Is it safe? ( she tries to bite back the way the cold trembles through her, but surely rouge-bitten cheeks and nose all but give her discomfort away. breath fogs out before her as she clarifies: ) The water, I mean.

iii.     if you tell me yours.

( fingertip thumbs over the small piece of cloth, reading it just loud enough for the other to hear.

share something that other people have refused to listen to you about. everyone ought to be listened to.

maybe she's been convinced that the hot springs were wise, lest the still-dropping temperatures get the better of her. or maybe she's settled at the base of a towering evergreen, tucked up against one of the dog's sides as it slumbers, reveling in whatever bit of warmth she could. it seems as if some sort of trial, brows pulling to a tuft. eventually, gaze settles on the other — just in time with one of the dog's yawns, squeaking at the end before nudging her forearm. )

They know, don't they?

( if there's anything to help her settle in, it's by helping others, isn't it? it's less to do with the reward advertised on the countless posters she's spotted, hardly aware of what would constitute as such when she's still learning... well, everything there was to learn about this place. if she's tugged into an experiment alongside yours, trust she'll do everything in her power to try and devise the best course of action! then again, if it's a choice between buttons or a lever, expect some hesitancy.

she's only just gotten here, after all. she doesn't want to be responsible for leaving it to rubble! )

ii.     a piece of home. (post tech-experiment!)

( the photograph feels threadbare between her fingers, as if it might simply turn to dust from mere touch alone. looking back at her across the gloss is an image of her and her father, her own youthful eyes wide and glittering, wrapping a taut breath about her sternum. she's quick to hold it to her chest, lashes kissing her cheeks a moment as eyes close — like if she opened them, he might suddenly be there with her, too.

there's a balm of peace that settles over her, even in so unfamiliar a place, a world. she was never really alone, was she? )

( ooc — as far as canonpoint, i'll be taking tifa from ffvii rebirth! so, sort of in the midst of their journey prior to end of game. not that it's totally pertinent, but i'm happy to indulge all flavors of ships if it happens to go that way. she's m/f leaning but could definitely explore f/f with the proper chemistry.

for lost & found, i wanted to toss up various points in time throughout the prompt should anyone want to dive in to something in particular! i'm more than happy to play up the frost spirits attack as well, wildcard me! tifa likely wouldn't have picked up a weapon as she's not totally comfortable with them, but can still kick some ice tush anyway. for no dumb ideas, genuinely throw absolutely anything at me, especially if you're more familiar with some of the tech in game. i'm happy to throw her into any and every kind of tech - dangerous, silly, angsty or otherwise! also feel free to assume ours got tangled up in fighting off the frost spirits together - she'll be the first to check on you amongst the company of good doggos.

[ Aerith had been venturing - exploring, wondering about the world, letting herself enjoy something outside the bright-coloured hues of her garden - when the voice strikes her. It's achingly familiar, and for a moment she questions the legitimacy of it, whether this is another one of Thirteen's machinations.

If they bought Sephiroth here...

Unable to help a little bit of teasing, she sneaks around so that she can lean up and put her hands on Tifa's shoulders, hoping to give her a little bit of a jumpscare. Boo! ]

[Why does she keep getting involved in things like this? It's almost always her fault, yeah, but still, why? Following weird ghosts never works out, but maybe she should just be thankful this one didn't possess her. Or kill her. Or kill her and possess her. You get the idea.

That's all she has to be thankful for though, as she trudges through the snow in her sleepwear. One second she was cuddling next to Tolvan and Sana, the next she's following a fox. They're gonna scold her so much over this one. Probably get a little jealous too. At least she has that to look forward to...]

Kark.

[This isn't getting any easier, nor is it getting any warmer. Her legs feel heavy, as if she's moving the limbs of a frozen statue with each step. Out of desperation, she begins calling out, her voice weak.]

Hey! Someone! Anyone? ... Luke? Luuuuke! Come on, hear me through the Force or something and save me already!

[If this is how she dies, that's pretty sad. The other ways would've been cooler. More thematic. Maybe there's some poetic irony about this feeling similar to freezing in space?]

ii. hot springs

[After that whole ordeal, Aphra's decided she deserves to be tampered. Treat this as a vacation. Sure, she prefers a sunny beach with cocktails, but she'll take fluffy dogs and hot springs over dying. When she's relaxing, she almost seems like a normal person. But she still might tease and splash whoever she's paired up with.

Noticing her fingers are starting to get all wrinkly, she moves to the edge of the springs, where the dogs block her path.]

Move. [They don't.] Moooove. I'm getting gross. [They don't.] Seriously?

[When she finally gets the little message and reads it,]

Ugh nooooo. Nope. No little challenges. Besides, you're literally not listening to me.

iii. and found

[Mysterious weapons sticking out of the snow? Perfect! Yeah, they're almost certainly cursed, but better to fight a curse with a weapon than without one. Aphra's digging through the weapons happily, like a child on Life Day. She mostly focuses on guns, grabbing a couple to compare and decide between. She also snags a few knives because why not.

If she notices whoever she's with isn't as excited about free loot, she'll turn and give them a look.]

What? They're in decent condition.

Lost | You rang?

[ The Force worked in strange ways; sometimes it was a gentle nudge, other times it was like an itch that couldn't be scratched enough to be satisfied. Luke felt that itch the moment he woke up that morning, and let it guide him wherever it wanted to go. It wasn't satisfied with getting food, and he didn't question it when he found himself wrapped up in furs with a sled dog team at his command. ]

[ Finding Aphra in the middle of no where? That explained why the Force felt like an itch. He leaned over the sled as the dogs came to a stop, an easy smile on his face, honestly happy to see the semi-crazy, rogue archeologist. ]

You know, usually when people come out here, they wear clothes appropriate for the weather.

[ He couldn't help but tease her a little; it was only fair considering how many times she teased him. ]

Lost & Found

[It has been nothing short of an absolute delight when Binx told him they have a lot to experience together. Curious to a fault, Andhera reveled in the endless possibilities those words entailed. Solitude had been a good teacher growing up, sure, but it was never enough, never been great even, just a mere spark against the crackling fire the mortal realm can offer.

So when their hand grasped his, skin against skin, companionship expunging isolation, his heart soared for the first time in what felt like eternity for a fey. It skipped a beat, or two, as effervescence bubbled within him at the prospect of new things, new creatures, new food, new friends, new warmth.

With a smile that can bring out the sun even at night, he stepped into the portal and followed them.

And then nothing.

Andhera's used to it, though. Nothingness had always been a friend, but he's always careful not to tell his gemstones this - they get jealous. Does this mean the mortal realm is also filled with nothing? Has it always been like this? Did they do something wrong when they saved magic back in the fey realm?

His thoughts and questions were answered by a fox, along with other inquiries he didn't know he had. He can feel things change once he followed the creature, torn if he should even be doing so when Binx isn't alongside him. Perhaps this is a realm in which he has to traverse alone before reaching the mortal realm? Perhaps Binx is in another one and, soon, they'll be reunited at the end of things.

He asked the fox. It didn't answer him.

So now, he's in a desolate field of snow and ice and he wonders if it's any different from the cave that raised him. After all, they're both cold and in them, he's alone.]

[After attempting to sing Baby, It's Cold Outside for the nth time, Andhera moves on to the next curious-looking experiment. At this point, he looks disheveled with different colored powder stains on his face, hair, chest, and shoulders, almost as if a burst of rainbow exploded before him. He doesn't mind, though. He's not in Court anymore, nor in a social function like the Bloom where he had to keep up appearances. Here, he can try as many things as he likes, and be free to do whatever he desires.

So, if ever one decides to approach him, he has an armful of assorted junk, from seemingly magical items to a huge helping of cotton candy he's currently munching on.]

[For all Steph's general dislike for Thirteen, when she arrives in Wintermute with instructions to help bring in new Star Children, she doesn't hesitate for a second. She takes both coats, hops onto the sleigh, and lets the dogs do the work they're designed to do.

The biting cold is unpleasant, and she can only imagine it's more unpleasant for someone who wasn't expecting to be dumped into an icy landscape.

Fortunately, the dogs both know where they're going and make quick work on the journey, slowing as they approach Andhera.]

[She's shouting before the sled comes to a full stop, wanting to give a tiny bit of reassurance, before she hops off the sled, coat in hand.]

This is for you, and we're gonna get you somewhere warm.

[She's not in her Batgirl costume, but it's still her Batgirl voice, meant to warm and reassuring, the sort of tone that doesn't leave room for doubt.]

[ Mikey falls to earth safely tucked away in his shell, a whoaaaaaAAAAAAAH! trailing after him as he streaks across the sky. He lands in the snow with an oof! before poking his head and his limbs out from his shell in one swift move, wide smile on his face. ] Whoo! That was fun. [ He says to no one, expecting his brothers to be there too, by his side, like they always were.

Greeted by only silence, Mikey frowns and looks around, seeing only snow for miles. Okay soooo one second they’re on top of the George Washington eating pizza, and the next he’s in the middle of a winter wonderland? Ugh his head hurts; this was definitely a Donnie-solves-it problem. At least this didn’t seem like a Krang problem. Maybe a Weird Cool Gateway Powers problem? ]

Guys? [ It’s too cold to think. ] This is super awesome and funny and all, but- [ Is that… A dog sled he’s seeing in the distance? He blinks, twice, sluggishly. ] Huh. [ It was getting closer, whatever it was. ]

Found

[ Once Michelangelo can leave the hot springs, he follows the road to the train station, on the heels of other Star Children trying to explore. He sees a few swords sticking up out of the snow, a couple knives, a gun. He manages to ignore all those with ease, but the second he spots a short length of chain resting on the snow, he gets curious.

He scoops the kusari-fundo out of the snow and gives the chain a few expert test swings - it’s definitely cold, but surprisingly well-balanced for something he found on the ground - catching the weights with ease a second later. ] Sweet! [ Mikey exclaims to mostly just himself. He folds the weapon’s chain up and attaches it to the straps hooked around his shell before joining the rest of the Star Children flooding onto the train.

This was gonna be awesome!

Twenty minutes later, after the train pulled out of the station and all hell broke loose, after putting that chain to some use chopping those ice things into pieces, it was getting a lot less awesome. ] Damn, you guys really know how to roll out the welcome mat... [ He chuckles nervously as he backs up into someone. ]

[ Her natural assumption was that this was all some weird dream, but for a dream, it's awfully realistic - with emphasis on the awful. There's nothing but snow as far as the eye can see, and here she is, totally lost, with nothing more than her woefully inadequate clothing and an ineffectively short layer of fur to shield her from the elements. It's not going well. Dream or not, this is interrupting her beauty sleep, because it's certainly not restful. ]

Ugh. That's what I get for listening to a fox.

[ grumbling, she holds her leathery wings around her body as tightly as she can and picks a random direction to trudge off in. Under normal circumstances, Rouge considers herself to have a very good sense of direction and a knack for finding where she needs to go; here, with nothing to go off of, she's kind of just hoping that luck carries her to safety. There aren't exactly any landmarks, and she doesn't exactly stand out much with her diminutive stature and the accidental camouflage of her white fur, but she's a lucky girl! There's no way a girl as clever and beautiful as her could perish in the snow in the middle of nowhere. She's got to be lucky!

Right? Right?! ]

[ Right! She's lucky enough to have had someone come rescue her and bring her all the way back to civilization! And even though getting carted around in a sled was both undignified and uncomfortable, it was, at least, warm. The springs themselves that she and her savior have ended up in aren't what she'd call luxurious, but she's never been happier to see a building in her life, rustic or not. Yes, she absolutely deserves a little bit of pampering.

In fact, she'd be indulging in it right now if it weren't for the sled dogs - which are about as tall as she is - completely surrounding her, tails wagging. ]

Hey! Can you tell your dogs to give a lady some space? They haven't got any manners. Shoo! [ Rouge tries to wave them away, but it doesn't work. In fact, it has the opposite effect, as a few of them jump up on her and start licking her face, much to her dismay. ] - Ack! Cut it out now!! Your breath stinks!

Lost & Found – The Woods

As a kit, he had once been told a story of a great warrior who had arced across the Dathomirian sky as a shooting star. This warrior had come and bowed to the great Sisters of old, and he had lay the foundation of his village single-handedly, served bravely and even know the old ways of witch magic. Sometimes he fancied himself similar because who wouldn’t when life was hardship and practicing to be a warrior of repute was the only goal pressed upon him at a young age.

He'd forgotten about that story until he found himself following the strange red and white furred beast and then took the form of a star himself. He touched down skidding through undisturbed snow in an unfamiliar place on an equally unfamiliar planet. He lifted his head and sniffed the cold air, letting it fill his lungs and send a shiver down his spine.

Savage looked around the dim light and then picked a direction to head off in a direction that seemed like it would be the most likely to provide him the necessities of survival: shelter, warmth, a source of water and food.

As he walked, he reached up to grasp a branch from a tree he was passing under and worked to break it off for an impromptu weapon. He was waylaid from his search for shelter as he paused to pulverize a rock with a combination of the Force and his boot to break off a sharp edge so he could scrape bark from the branch. He paused to tear off lesser small branches so he could walk and sharpen his stick as he walked through the snow.

At his towering height, he had no issue even as the snow deepened in places, and his golden eyes glowed in the dim light as he looked around for signs of danger and potential shelter. Yet, he paused at the sound of animals approaching, holding his sharpened stick at the ready for any fight brought his way.

Lost & Found – Train Station

Savage had no issue with transport like trains, though he hadn’t had much opportunity to be on one and without a cloak covering his horns and much of his armour. Traveling with his elder brother in the Outer Rim meant they never stayed long on a single planet, so the opportunities to enjoy public transportation was largely limited. It wasn’t as if they could travel freely on the most populated planet they had been on – Mandalore – so the fact that he wasn’t wanted meant he could explore.

And of course, without a single hesitation, he grabbed one a hand axe from weapons in the snow. As confident as he was with hand-to-hand combat, he would never turn down an opportunity to have a physical weapon in hand as well. He made long hard chopping motions in the air with it to check its balance as he approached the train.

"How long does it take to arrive at our destination?" Unspoken was if the seats were big enough to accommodate a seven and a half foot Zabrak.

No Dumb Ideas

"This is dumb," Savage announced to no one in particular. He crossed his mismatched arms over his massive chest and stared at the blinking red light on the panel in front of him. "Every kit knows that pushing blinking lights is a trap." It was better to imprint the harsh lessons first so they were better prepared for the general pain of life. And yet, he knew on some level they had to push the button.

He looked at the other individual, gauging how much physical trauma they could potentially soak when this inevitability exploded metal all over the place. The important part of this reality was that he knew he would survive it, and the sooner he was out of being yet another experiment for someone else, the better he would feel about it.

"Are you pushing it or am I?"

It's Probably A Dumb Idea, Though

Compared to Savage, the young human teenager is lean, short, and thoroughly deceptively harmless looking. The chances of being a good soak for explosions are probably pretty low! Until now he'd stayed quiet and unobtrusive, not afraid, merely unwilling to interact with .. pretty much anyone more than necessary.

This reluctance is not helped much by Savage's bright coloration, spiky head and alarming height. Not human, obviously!

"I can," is the eventual, thoughtful response. The light continues to blink enticingly, and he steps close enough to actually reach it. "I've been meaning to test out the assurance that we can't be killed anyway, it might as well be now. You may want to back up just in case, sir."

I: The Lost

a. [ Following a fox somewhere else. Arriving through time and space to come here... Lex groans and ran a hand down his face. To arrive out in the cold and the snow. You'd really, really think he's know better. He can't even feel most of his pact-bound spirits with him, he can't feel his gear- ... It's just a bad time altogether. Still, he's been in worse terrain, and even if he was just in his fancier doublet and tights attire (seriously, it couldn't have gotten him when he was in full armor?) he's... lamenting these are getting a bit waterlogged by his wandering.

... That's totally a sled dog coming towards him, isn't it? Or a wolf? He initially isn't sure if it's a threat and thus Lex's first instinct is actually going to be to try to hide from the people who were sent to save him, sorry. ]

b. [ So he's ... been taken to a hot springs area. And that's actually pretty awesome, even if Lex is going way out of his way to not be shirtless in front of anyone. Trying to be in the baths alone, trying to find clothes which are looser than his doublet (though seeing fashion sensibilities here, the man is content to just wear his undershirt around after a point) and get his bearings of what's going on here.

... But then the dogs are keeping him from leaving. He squares up with them, but it's increasingly clear this is some part of the - probably a challenge or something? It's after he gets the note that he actively groans and runs a hand down his face. ... Maybe if he hears someone else out? So he's going to approach the nearest person, wave at the dogs, and, ]

Hey, hey! Seems to me that it's open season on confessions for some reason. Anything you're eager to share? I've been assured by at least one and a half princesses I'm a decent listener.

II: The Train

a. [ ... This prompt is simple. Namely, he's taking at least three knives and one sword. A warhammer if he can find one. But he might also be asking anyone who looks like they're looking at the weapons on offer, ]

Say, what's the over-under on a cursed item here?

b. [ Inevitably, though, the curse comes for him on the train. Namely, it comes in the form of a battle kicking off with some ice monster or another. Armed only with fists, kicks, a winter coat, an undershirt (or a doublet? Seriously, where is some armor???) and whatever weapons he took from before he boarded, he needs to fend them off. He also doesn't have access to his spirit magic, which isn't great.

It's also during this fight he realizes one of his early legend abilities is being notably more physically strong than he initially was. Something that surprises him when he actually dents one of the walls a little. ... That's new. ]

So! Fights here normal?

III: The Experiments

[ ... You know. He's very, very curious about this poster. But he also only has improvised equipment so far. On the other hand, this place hasn't come off as overly hostile yet other than the ice creatures.

On the other hand, it's very sketchy. You might find Lex pondering one such poster and go up to him, or he might be approaching you! In which case, ]

Hey, hey. You been planning to pull the tab on those experiments? Looking for a partner? I've been a duo for a while but I'm flying solo right now.

IV: Something Else

a. [ For women or femme presenting folk (preferably those who are appropriate for a 24 year old to approach like this), so like. It's been a stressful arrival. He imagines that's the cast with a lot of people. Lex feels naked without his spirits, his weapons at least, and without his partner. He's gotten clothes by now and some degree of his bearings (found a map and a means to get somewhere warmer at least) ...

And so he's fallen to bad habits. Well, old habits? Old and somewhat bad habits. Linda isn't around to give him shit while he's doing this, so he's just going to try to see if he can find beautiful women about today and try to strike up a conversation. Ask what's been going on. Offer to help them with whatever they're doing. ... he'd offer to buy a drink but he doesn't have a grip on the currency yet. Compliment them. ... basically he's just trying actively to be a little flirty. It soothes the nerves. ]

b. [ OTA, after having been stuck in a world for may, many years with alchemical knowledge but lacking in that processed All-American shitty food goodness... Lex is going hard on trying to find any sort of soda or energy drink or anything else of that nature he can find. Be it at a convenience store in one of the cities (perhaps even the Convenience Store) or at a market somewhere in a smaller region. He is finding them, he is buying them, and he is asking for extra cups so he can mix these abominations together to make newer, stronger energy drinks. Or just weird tasting ones. It's a little childish to do as a grown man as he is, but hey, might as well, right? ]

In the past, he might have wasted time looking for another exit, but he's done this song and dance enough times by now to know there's no escape but compliance. Which is fortunate, because it means he doesn't immediately dismiss the newbie who comes up to him!]

i. not again

In the last few years, someone showing up, pestering Vincent Valentine and subsequently prodding him to follow and Take Care Of Something is at least a consistent situation.

The only difference happens to be that Thirteen isn't one of the handful of people he considers good friends that have developed this habit.

By the time he has any capacity to speak or use his mental facilities to do anything but follow and listen to the fox that leads him to Folkmore, speaking of trials and places, roles and stories, he is nothing more than a speck of black, red and brass in a vast field of snow.

Great. Not just getting dragged off to some other place, but it may as well be the middle of the blizzard-locked snow fields in the Northern Continent. Even better, when he composes himself and checks for belongings, he's also missing his weapon and any materia.

"Just perfect," he mutters in a tone that suggests it's anything but. Drawing up the high, closed collar of his cloak, he starts scanning for signs of anything that could act like a landmark.

ii. dogpile (hotspring)

Vincent wasn't going to get into the hot springs, but the warmth is pleasant enough to linger around. Maybe ask questions.

So he settled near the pools. The mechanical sled dogs don't seem to be aware they wouldn't like damp or that they aren't really dogs. Several immediately flop around Vincent or push up against him like they're seeking pats.

It's almost cute and the former Turk doesn't completely resist the urge to pat a couple on their metal heads. Except it's not long before this encourages another to clamber partially into his lap.

"You don't have anything better to do right now, I suppose?"

iii. familiar... familiar?

A wild chocobo has been sighted in Wintermute. A black chocobo. Some time after the first round of found Star Children have been released, the dog spirits might be caught speaking about the familiar (to some) riding bird. It seems to defy getting herded back to civilization.

But it also sounds very handy for travel across the winter landscape; capable of traversing over rivers and mountains (at least this particular chocobo breed) seems to have no problem nancing around on top of the snow itself.

From another perspective, Vincent has discovered the changes the Fox has wrought in him on his arrival to Folkmore. It could be a lot worse really. Though he doesn't intend to stay out too long, a mildly stubborn streak has given him cause not to go back just yet; all the spirits trying to get him back to the safety of buildings had him digging his feet (talons?) in and avoiding the well meaning efforts.

Nor does he see any reason to explain himself. Which leaves one question; why is the person who's just spotted him out here? Hoping for a useful mount in Wintermute's environs? Thinking there might be a Familiar under all those warm feathers causing trouble for well-meaning canines?

[ no dumb ideas ]    

There are a lot of dumb ideas. Whether or not they're worth investigating anyway is completely beside the point. When wandering through Wintermute after his arrival, Vincent pauses near one of the posters. Arms crossed, a claw-like joint of his gauntlet tapping against his arm in thought, he finally comes to a decision and tears off a strip.

i. vincent isn't buying it

Later, he suddenly finds himself, with someone else, in the middle of a lab shaped like the interior of a massive, smooth cylinder. Near the top, some sixty feet up, a golden sphere about the size of a basketball, suspended by a wire.

At ground level, there's a lot of levers, chains, buttons and even a small terminal. Two tables hold... devices of varying interesting designs. Whether or not they're experimental or easily recognized - that's certainly just a rope and grappling hook right there- the task seems clear even without a helpful explanation written on a placard. Using only what's in the room, reach the golden sphere.

The toggles and switches manipulate the appearance of platforms and sometimes even other levers and switches. The terminal seems to be a mystery; maybe enter blind commands to provoke cause and effect? And the devices... well for the most part, there's a mix of high tech questionable devices and low tech gear; the latter is part safety gear, part consideration. Not everyone is comfortable with technology and it would be worth testing their problem solving skills right? The other devices are a mishmash of recognizable and various experimental items that seemed like a good idea (to Thoth) to group together in one test.

Of course it would be cheating if one were to use supernatural abilities so there's definitely a field dampening powers both personal and role. Vincent already found out the hard way; trying to defy gravity and run up the wall, only to get about decent, but normal human jump worth of height before nearly crashing into the wall.

The sound of the metal clawtips of his gauntlet SCREEEEEECHING against the surface of the rounded wall as he slid back down was... not fun.

"...Unfortunate." He manages to sound mostly dignified.

ii. seriously. But the reward was worth it(???)

Afterward, Vincent can be found seated in a corner, inspecting his reward. There's a mug of hot lemonade nearby and while he's taken a drink he's definitely more interested the weapon he's been given.

The weight of the gun is familiar, but it isn't Cerberus. Still, Vincent wouldn't forget the reliable weapon that existed from his days as a Turk.

"Maybe that wasn't such a waste of time after all."

There isn't any materia fitted, but he couldn't really expect that. While he isn't a man that's prone to a lot of outward expression- the high wrap collar of the cloak doesn't make it easy to see when he smiles- there's an ease in his presence and a way in how he inspects the weapon that conveys that he's pleased.

At least until he gets drawing back the slide. Staring down into the mechanism for a second, Vincent releases it and ejects the clip to look at it. Empty.

"Hrrrm." Of course.

[Guess what Vincent Valentine, knock knock on that coffin lid once again because it's Cloud Strife here to compel you to Be Involved. Or at least to be not frozen to death.

The baying of dogs precedes his arrival, but as the sled slides to a stop next to Vincent and the musher (other passenger?) pulls down the scarf around his mouth, it probably becomes clear even with the knit beanie on his head who exactly Vincent has been found by:] You gotta be shitting me.

[Cloud turns only briefly to dig out the coat from the footwells, not even sure if Vincent will need it but deciding that leaving it there would just be impolite anyway, before stepping down off the sled and wading through the snow over to his friend.] Hey.

Arrival;

There were a few things that Scott Lang was used to that were happening right now. The first was that he'd been accosted by strange animals, at least this one hadn't insulted his love of space, and the second was that when it came to being shoved head first into the unknown he was an expert.

What he was not used to however was the fact that it was ice fucking cold. He'd been born and raised in Florida and moved from there to California. He was very used to beaches and sunshine and this could not be further removed from any of that. Blinding snow as far as the eye could see, the waves of white and blue stretched before him promising nothing but more cold.

Great.

It's not like the first time he'd been trapped in the snow or anything, he'd become fairly well traveled in his career as a super hero, hell one time he went to fight some frost giants at the request of Freyja. But this felt, well, different.

But it was just as damn cold.

He should have learned the last time that he'd been forced into this situation, but his suit wasn't very well insulated. Well not for this sort of thing; electrical work sure but actual warmth? Damn it he needed to work on that, and actually remember it this time! But it was too late for it now as he slowly hauled himself out of the snow in which he'd been so unceremoniously dumped into trying to get a feel for his surroundings. A few attempts were made at trying to reach out via his helmets internal communications, but it seemingly falls on deaf ears, good to know. It doesn't fill him with a ton of confidence and as he gets used to standing on slightly unsteady legs he realises parts of him are cold that were never all that cold. Namely his back, but not his back really... His wings?

OH WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?!

Jetting from his back seems to be a full set of wings, he's seen them thousands of times on the backs of some of his modes of transport but never once on himself. His suit didn't have wings, Hank had been very purposeful on that, but this wasn't suit related at all. These were actually coming from his body. He's gonna try not to think about it cause currently they don't seem to do anything anyway the cold causing their thin cover layer to become finer and more delicate.

"It's fine, this is probably fine. We're fine. Totally fine." If you keep telling yourself its fine it's probably totally fine. That's how this works right? Right.

She Blinded Me with Science;

Eventually Scott gets to get out of that cold, and that's nice it's still much colder than he was used to but he ended up getting some warmer clothing along the line. Eventually he had even found a poster or something tacked up to a wall or the like with little strips inviting people to come and do science with them! It very much had 'safety not guaranteed' vibes to it and eventually he found out that it wasn't just vibes...

As he was successfully voluntold to participate in one particular instance of said 'science'. He wasn't entirely sure what this sort of thing was, it felt a little like being trapped in some sort of... escape room? God damn him a little, why did he have to touch everything.

He took his time slowly trying to work though the console set before him, it's sort of strange and after a moment or two Scott's eyes widen and he sort of looks around desperately, making sure anyone nearby holds perfectly still.

"Don't, touch anything." He didn't freeze his ass off just to be nuked by the energy source before him. Electronics slowly humming away peacefully as though nothing were wrong but he knows far better, there's a very distinct smell in the air of things maybe just not wired entirely right.

Nill really likes the food carts. They're convenient, and the dog spirits who run them are really fucking cute. She knows they aren't just dogs, but it takes a lot of will power not to pet them any time she's buying some snack or other from their stalls. But after she's handed her veggie tacos and finds herself in Wintermute, of all places, between one blink and the next, she thinks to herself that it's probably safer from now on if she just cooks at home.

Well, she isn't going to do jack for Thirteen until after she's had dinner, so even with the mechanical sled dogs watching her intently, she eats her tacos before even considering bundling up and going with the animatronic dogs. She watches stars fall from the sky as she chews. Sorry for the wait.

Wintermute is probably her least favorite part of Folkmore, and she avoids visiting it as much as she can. Her own wings are sensitive to the cold, despite the layers covering them and pressing them snug against her back. The dogs don't seem to need her to lead them, at least, so she can focus on trying to keep warm until she spots a figure in the distance--which explains the extra bundle of outerwear secured in front of them. The dogs skid to a stop so the sled is even with the man, and Nill finally releases the handles and shakes out her hands, trying to warm them up. Thirteen certainly didn't make this one easy.

After a few seconds, she gestures for the new Star Child to hop on the sled; she assumes this is what she's supposed to do, anyway. She doesn't say a word, the only sounds around them remaining the Wintermute winds, the gentle whirring of the mechanical dogs, and Scott's own muttering.

[Rhaenyra is thankful for the thick coat that's brought to her once the dogsled arrives. The princess is dressed in clothing more suited to a sunny climate, a golden cream color with red trim. It does not suit her well in Wintermute, especially lost in some remote part as she's been wandering for a little while before her rescuers have come.

She gives a quick thanks, not minding anything but the coat for a moment before she's quickly looking up at the other person. The dogs seem to swarm them, and she gives a small curtsy in response.]

I-- I am Princess Rhaenyra of House Targaryen. [She still shivers lightly, not even sure where she's supposed to go, but the dogs seem to nudge her closer along the trail they've just come from. The princess already has a weapon sheathed on her side, pleased that the dagger made it here with her.]

[Rhaenyra is no maester herself, having very little education on a scientific nature. That doesn't mean she has completely no interest in it, but she is likely not the best student herself. But test subject?

She is not sure what she is meant to do. Even being in a lab like this is very different to her. The concept of a place like this, being brought here by Thirteen isn't new to her, but even the last place she had been to wasn't exactly advanced either, more magic based itself. Her hands flatten on one of the tables.]

I am not sure what they are expecting of me. I find I may be useless at this. [Though she wonders in some way of 'blood of the dragon' may be a real thing in this moment. Could there even be some proof of that? She knows some of the stories of Valyria from her father, of blood magic done, of the theories of what may tie a dragonrider to their dragon, but she does not have Syrax here either.

For now she keeps her thoughts to herself though, studying the other person who is meant to be studying on her.]

she does so automatically, as the mention of rhaenyra brings to her mind the dance of the dragons, especially after combing various accounts of it last year for anything that might help her sworn brother better understand the grey ghost.

both her chakra control and her newfound water powers keep her from falling or sinking into the snow, and when she rises her charcoal woolen skirt is dry.

there's also a direwolf among the small crowd of dogs, with a padded collar matching sansa's dress, watching rhaenyra with serene interest.]

Listen. Most people would absolutely love to be piled on by dogs, he's sure. But Sousuke is one of the ones who is much less than thrilled. Not because he hates dogs. But because he'd rather be figuring out exactly what's going on and where he is. Honestly, he didn't even think it was possible for him to get stuck under a literal pile of dogs at this point in his (non)life.

The message they have for them to escape, however, is really, really dumb.

Share something that other people have refused to listen to you about. Everyone ought to be listened to.

Welp, guess he's stuck here forever, then.

But he really doesn't want to be. Oh, the agonising dilemma.

"You first," he groans out. He's not going to be the one to lay himself bare, first. Heck, if he's lucky, you'll just give him the ammunition to pick on you. That would at least distract him from being stuck here against his will.

There's a part in every child that is fascinated by the idea of being a hero with a weapon. Something that speaks to being blessed with magic powers and a destiny to save the world.

...Or something like that. Either way, that's thereabouts how Sousuke feels when he sees these weapons lying around before they reach the station. Well, he deserves a little reward for all of that opening-up-about-stupid-things-so-dogs-will-let-you-go, right? He was very brave, of course he deserves something.

He decides a katar looks pretty cool, and claims it for himself before heading on and boarding the train. Expecting an easy ride to Anywhere But Here, Thank You Very Much. Except, now there's frost spirits attacking the train. (Nothing can ever be easy, can it?)

It takes one narrow brush with one of these spirits (and barely even that much) for Sousuke to run to a corner, shaking as he gets cornered.

He's not crying, you're crying!

But for real, someone please save him before he dies (again?).

Did Sousuke choose to be here? Absolutely not. Is he here against his will anyway? Absolutely yes. Sousuke's really starting to hate how things are done around here.

...Buuuuut being in a place with buttons and levers to push and pull definitely helps to make up for it. Kid curiousity, man. Always that eager little spark to find out what does this button do. And, now that he seems more able to interact with things, he's willing to give this a try.

Which one should he try first, though? A button? A lever? This button? That lever? Decisions, decisions.

He looks around at his options, and even if there is a clear stage for whatever might come of it. He finds around stage in the center with something of a claw hand dangling above a toy truck. Hmmm... after some odd minutes (or maybe it's seconds. Look, he doesn't have all the patience in the world to look at every option. He's gonna roll with it at some point), he decides to press a blue button.

The claw grabs the toy truck and crushes it.

"Yea! Alright!" That feels better. A nice end to this terrible day. He's quick to pull on a lever to see what it does next. Only for the claw to reach over and grab him next. Uh-oh.

"Hey! Let me go!" He's flailing. Thankfully, it doesn't seem to be crushing him. But he's definitely afraid it will.

[Before he can stop Sousuke from doing anything, the other presses one of the buttons. Looking up at the giant claw, he prepares himself for something bad. When it simply crushes the truck in its grasp, Gene relaxes slightly. Oh good. It's just doing that. There's nothing-!

Before he can try to stop it, the claw picks up the kid, sending him into a panic. That's not good. Remembering what it did to the truck, Gene quickly rushes over to the button panel and yells out.]

None of this was on the plan for today. It was already a packed day that didn't really have time for a detour like this. But here she is.

Here she is, not dressed remotely for this weather. Her body temperature is intended for much warmer climates than this, no matter what she might do with the environmental controls.

She's not dressed for it and it's not what she had planned and all of that adds up to moving on as quickly as possible. Only a fool stays out in this cold and she needs to find... anyone.

No Dumb Ideas

Speaking of not being what she had planned. Even after completely recalibrating her plans, she wasn't expecting to end up mixed up in these experiments.

Hera's no scientist. Neither are her crew. But spending time around their particular brand of creativity has been enough to teach her certain patterns.

Which is what prompts her to frown at the elaborate panel in front of her and turn to her companion. "This is definitely going to explode, isn't it?"

Ariadne didn't like Wintermute much, but she made a point to visit it once a month, when the stars fell from the sky like tears slipping down from the stars. In truth, she visited pretty much every part of Folkmore at least once a month, but she was having second thoughts about Wintermute, this month. Even bundled in her warmest cloak, the hood protecting her delicate, Alastrian hair, she found herself questioning her decision.

Truthfully, she was on the verge of turning back when she caught a scent on the wind that she didn't recognize. A decidedly-alive scent.

Well, if Thirteen saw fit to drop a new Starchild here, Ariadne considered it her responsibility to find out. Although it seemed awfully cruel of the goddess. Arriving in a strange new world was difficult enough without the awful weather! It seemed Thirteen was feeling a little naughty this month.

Taking a deep breath of the frigid air, letting it out between her teeth in a cloud of steam, Ariadne trudged forward. "Hello?" she shouted, cupping a gloved hand around her mouth. "Hello?"

[ Natasha huffs out, her breath misting. Slow breaths, normalising her heartbeat. The cold is an old friend, but, of course, the Fox hadn't chosen a time when she'd had camo on. She pulls a scarf and a small cap from her long coat and tucks her hair into it, pulling it down over her ears. Checks each Bite she has, mercifully working, and furnished on both wrists. A few small knives. No guns. (But here, that wouldn't have been such a good idea.) ]

[ There are worse places to be. She starts to walk, steadily, purposefully, and heads for the first person approaching on a sled. With a smile, ]

[ There had been a truly suspicious number of her favourite guns in the snow. She had chosen a corner to wait, and discreetly observed some others, but after no obvious trap, and no obvious difference in the feel and heft of her weapons, had chosen a few to keep on her. (Not all, a shame she'd had to leave the rifles.) At the station, she's pulled off her cap and tucked it away, and is humming softly. ]

But there is something very, very familiar about this other woman, also all dressed in black. ]

1. Why do people climb mountains? -

He had just managed to catch the wandering dog cart before it entered the city, buying himself a little treat just like he's been learning to do. A nice meaty treat, and just before he can take a bite, he blinks away in a puff of smoke! Leaving the snack to fall to the ground in the saddest slow-motion bit.

Razor is getting uncomfortably used to suddenly appearing in new places. Is that something one should get used to? Even if it only happens once a month or so, that's still alarmingly often! The rest is a blur, mostly instinctive. He can feel the cold outside, sense the urgency. So the jacket is put on, and moments later he's out in the snow, robot-sled leading the way.

-Camera wipe-

It hopefully doesn't take long for him to find you. His sense of smell is keen, and both the dogs and Razor can sense someone in need. There's the mechanical pattering of dozens of feet as the sled pulls on up, and a peering fellow with long, wild grey hair outside a winter jacket left open peers over with a curious tilt of his head.

"You need help? I can feel-" There's a lot to take in there.

2. Is it just to reach the top and see the view? -

Razor never took a piece of paper. But that's never stopped this world from dragging him into strange events before. He was just getting settled into his temporary home, laying back and watching the clouds drift across the Cruel Summer landscape to slowly burn off, when he closes his eyes...

Only to wake in a new place. The air feels different and the scents change. He sits up, turning to look around. Only to find he's in some kind of bubble gauntlet puzzle!? His head tilts, confused for a second, only to turn and see someone else there with him. You-

Oh no... Not again.

[ Bubbles roll down a ramp in rows that must be dodged, there are traps and occasionally safe places along the path. Star Children must both reach the top together to be released! Netting and ominous traps seem to prevent flying. Those caught in bubbles will be rolled back to the bottom of the ramp before being released. But watch out for spikes or pitfalls! ]

3. Oh I, will tell you something. - (At Puca Park) -

One of the strangest things to happen to Razor this month: His involuntary relocation to Puca Park thanks to some kind of strange experiment. He left almost immediately, likely before anyone even noticed he was there, heading back to his pack like nothing had happened.

Only the moment he curled up to sleep he vanished again, reappearing above and then falling into the dry dirt outside the trailer house with a loud, audible thud. There's an unhappy groan, and the wolf lifts his head to glance around. It's darker now, and the almost desert landscape carries sounds across it so well, half the park probably heard that crash.

"Grrrrrrr" He's rumbling...

4. Every rock and every river. Every sore and every splinter... I'd climb every mountain with you. -

3. (Hello temporary neighbor!)

In the next lot over from Razor's new home-enforced-home there is a blindingly orange trailer. Elidibus had been observing the movements of the new neighbors- not just lot which bound the disconcerted wolf but the other side as well.

Although it's late now, he's still outside. Razor's reappearance and low fall snaps the Ascian's attention back in that direction. The sound and noise was pretty distinct and noise... well, it would certainly draw attention of residents but more importantly it could also be mistaken for the interest of the resident monsters that dwell in Cruel Summer.

Puca Park may be defended fairly well, but it's also a reliable source of water and food and all the predators would know that.

Putting his relic away, Elidibus steps down from the deck porch and begins to slowly close the distance between the two lots. The growling doesn't seem to trouble him but if his open and slow approach are anything to go by, he is taking it into account that Razor may not be happy to have someone get too close.

"Are you injured?" The question voice may sound like concern, yet it serves a second purpose in excusing the intrusion. No more than a concerned individual and one who might not mean harm.

[Why... why is she in the snow!? She was just in the Boiling Isles, there was so much happening at once, but more importantly she'd been with Luz and everyone, and now this? She's been left alone, in the snow, in the middle of nowhere? Shivering, Amity hugs herself and gazes at her surroundings, trying to make sense of it all. There'd been a fox, speaking of roles and potentials, and she'd followed it so blindly. What had she been thinking? Was this a trick...?

Slowly she trudges forward, trying not to fall into the snow. Even her abomination goo pot is gone, so she can't travel freely as she'd like. She can't even make herself mittens. Poor kid is NOT dressed for this, someone help?]

[Cold cold cold cold cold- she is booking it to the warm water. She barely gives herself time to strip off that winter coat she'd been given on the way back. Don't mind her as she sinks down right up to her nose, exhaling with a soft, relieved sigh.]

Okay Amity, breathe... just breathe... don't panic. It's fine if you're in a new world! Luz managed just fine! You can do this...

[Wow, there... sure are a lot of weapons lying around this seemingly innocent station, with the... giant... worm? Tube? ...Vehicle demon? Whatever. She sifts through the options, missing Ghost so much (not for the first or last time) before selecting a simple stave with a short blade on the end. Not the best, but it'll do. Then she approaches someone nearby, clutching it somewhat nervously.]

Excuse me, um. Do you know where I could find a small container to hold mud? ...And also, mud?

[If she doesn't have goo, she can at least try and replace it temporarily.]

[Hmm. Maybe volunteering for that mysterious experiment was a bad idea when she doesn't have access to the main tools of her best magic yet. Well, whatever! She can improvise. That's what Luz would do. It's not like she's powerless without her abomination goo.

Her contraption ends up comically simple, but in the most infuriating way. it's just... a button. In the middle of a console. Next to a wall.

...With a giant anvil on a trapdoor right above it, which she points at.]

[Who Amity approaches is a turtle demon that is at least dressed for the cold in a fashionable blue themed coat and pants with boots. But he looks over to her. Far be it for him to assume why someone wants to carry mud around. He's definitely carried around and swam in worse until very recently. And she looks okay. His age, probably but way too clean to want to play with it. Probably some other use for it. Nothing a little conversation can't suss out.]

Dead Hearts

[When the fox found him crying in the darkness, he didn't know what to do but follow her to the light. Not that he had much of a choice anyway. He had lost his ability to choose a while ago. What could he have done if he did have a choice anyway? Stay there and have his spirit slowly rot away as time mercilessly trudged on?

Gene doesn't know how he's supposed to feel. Relief for finally leaving that darkness? Despair that he will never see or talk to Mai or his twin again? At least his other self will still be there for them, that Thirteen reassured him before gently leading him away. He barely noticed the changes his body went through as they walked. Having a body at all was a refreshing change.

Gene shivered as he looked around at the surroundings with an expression of resigned acceptance. It had been a while since he felt cold like this. Even in those visions, he felt disconnected and numb. His newly acquired black wings tried to cover him in vain against the freezing weather. Taking a breath through clattering teeth, he started walking through the frozen land.


Everything I wanted

[When he's found by the dogs and the other star child, he is quickly wrapped up snugly in the sled and given some food to quicken the process. It was unexpectedly delicious and brought tears to his eyes as he tried to remember when was the last time he could eat like this? As he remembered his fate in his world, he remembered the faces of his dear ones he has left behind.

Being alive again was one of the things he had desperately wanted. Eating, being cold, feeling all those small forgettable feelings, he had desperately missed them all. Having it all again was almost too much for him, and soon he was shivering and sobbing quietly as he was filled with relief and pain. He was finally free. And all it took was leaving his loved ones behind. They will never know but he will. And it hurt.

When he noticed the worried expressions on the others, he quickly wiped at his eyes and hiccuped a soft reply.]

I-I'm okay. I'm just...overwhelmed. It's been such a long time...


Everything stays

[When he found out along with his rescuer that he was trapped by the dogs until they shared something that other people have refused to listen to, he let out a bitter laugh. Another choice ripped from him. It seemed to be a reoccurring theme in his past and present.]

...Looks like even here I'm not free.

[For a while he simply ignored the dogs the best he could, going to the hot spring to soak. He didn't care if they followed him, he was too exhausted from everything to care. When he lowered himself into the hot spring, he sighed and closed his eyes. The hot water felt nice after all that cold from before, warming him up in ways the coat hadn't. He lifted one eye open when he heard someone else join him. Watching them quietly as they lowered themselves in the spring, he finally sighed and asked.]

(1: lost )

The cold isn't what startles Mahito at first, no, it's the fact there was snow all around them. Since when had it started to snow? Ugh, annoying.

It takes him a few moments to snap out of it, realizing there is no immediate danger, Itadori- that Sukuna-brat, didn't seem to be chasing after him at least, which honestly is a huge relief! Relief that he's unabashed in letting bubble to the surface in an eruption of gleeful laughter. Tucking a long, wayward strand of that silver-gray hair of his back over a shoulder as he hears what sounds like the bark of a dog?

He has it all planned out. Approach the dog and if it happens to have any humans with it, ever so softly place a hand on its arm and politely ask for directions. Once he has the information that he needs, he'll simply transfigure their body and kill them~

"Haaaah- Hello? Is there anyone there? It's so cold out, do you have a nice warm shelter nearby?" Spoken in an almost sickly sweet voice for someone stranded out in the snow. How could anyone ignore such a nice young man in need of help?

-Oh, what's this now? He really ought to be paying attention, then again, he was always something of a daydreamer unless something caught his immediate interest or attention. There didn't seem to be any worry or stress in his expression as he arrived at the school, graciously taking the warm fur coat and letting himself be ushered onto the dog sled (it's not like he had anything better to do, right?)

The moment Mahito sees the hot springs, he strips off without care or regard for decency and dives right in! (Sorry, no-sorry for splashing you there buddy!) "Ah, this is the life." He says with a wide smile stretching across his patchworked face, before pouting his lips and sinking further into the water so that his chin is almost fully submerged. "Dagon and Hanami would have loved it in here..." Blowing bubbles out in a sigh as he lets himself stoop down until he is completely under the surface of the water.

The Cursed Spirit had no intentions of leaving this place, nor did he want to interact with anyone else. Content to be left alone with his thoughts and memories, that is until someone else happens to join him in the spring. He might not want to talk but nothing is stopping whoever just joined him. Have fun trying to get him to actually listen and pay attention though as he really couldn't care less~

(3: train station )

You know what was oh so tempting to do? Touch everything and everyone in sight. Mahito was practically vibrating as he squeezed through the small crowd that had gathered at the station, casually tracing a hand across someone's back or setting a palm to their shoulder as he moved through them. The deranged smile on his lips only seemed to grow wider as he knew none of these poor souls knew how much danger they were in right now, as he stepped onto the train brimming with excitement at all the new souls he could use.

Oh, but what's this? The startled sound of a scream and the press of people as they squeeze to try and get to the next carriage. Mahito arched his neck to try and see where the sound came from. Following it to see someone holding one of the random swords he'd spotted jutting out of the floor, huh, he was wondering what they were doing there. He approached the person holding the sword like he was going to offer help. When in the corner of his eye, Mahito spots the creatures. Spirits? How very interesting.

"Oh no~ This looks bad, doesn't it? Shhh~ I don't think they've seen or heard you yet, you might be okay..." He says as he stands there for a moment longer before stepping aside and slapping the pointed end of the sword the person was holding so that it wobbled and clattered, making a loud, obvious sound. "Oops?" Grinning, Mahito took a step back against the wall of the carriage, letting the vengeful Frost spirits zone in on their new target. Oh, what fun~!

Lost & Found 1: Welcome and Good Luck

One dog bark was heard, but it turns out that there's multiple dogs. Which are mechanical in nature but seem to possess the ability to occasionally bark and generally act like their living counterparts. The sled is making a bee-line for Mahito's location as though they knew exactly where they would find him. There are some basics stowed in the sled's cargo bed, including the eponymous coat meant for whomever they are out here to fetch. This trip was clearly meant to be a very short retrieve and return.

The person standing at the handle is wearing a heavy coat, just as would be expected in this weather. Elidibus had been... commandeered just as other veteran Star Children to take a ride out. Since the task seemed to only consist of being on hand to brake the sled when the dogs stopped and communicate with whoever just arrived, it was deemed the better judgment to go through with it.

Elidibus could easily ignore such an individual. But that's not what he's here for. Stepping off the back of the sled and standing beside it, the ascian takes a moment to observe Mahito. The ride has caked the edges of the hood with snow and there's a pair of goggles that had been used to protect his eyes. It's pretty hard to see any of the would-be rescuer's appearance.

A gloved hand lifts and points to the bed where there's plenty of room for a potential rider. There is a distinct lack of the normal concern you'd expect for finding a poor, blizzard-stranded individual. This probably has nothing to do with a suspected character and plenty to do with Elidibus' personality.

"It seems you are the one we are here for. There is a coat, should you require one for the return journey."

One might argue that as Elidibus doesn't immediately return to his position on the sled, it may be an indicator that he might be willing to help should Mahito show signs of struggling to get in.

[There is a snort that comes, clearing the scents from her nose as the Dog blinks, glancing around. The last thing she could recall before waking was tromping around in death. She’d been between the border of life and the first gate, having sent Nicholas back to Lirael. It wasn’t something that she should have done, but her mistress deserved it and would need a new companion now that the Dog was gone. Plus, she was disreputable and had a reputation to keep in her old age.

This? This is different. She had been thinking about just what her next adventure would be but it seems that the adventure had found her. She’s sneezed several times, knowing that she is neither in the Old Kingdom nor in Ancelstierre. It doesn’t taste right here. Still, that doesn’t tell her where she actually is, and that is what the Dog became interested in. She'd followed the Fox, because why not? The Dog is always open to new adventures and this certainly seems like one.

The snow doesn't seem to bother her at the least, and if someone does happen to be watching her, her legs might just have grown a little taller to keep her chest from brushing against any drifts. If caught, she gives a doggish grin, tongue rolling out of the corner of her mouth, and tail wagging. Nothing to see here. Nope. Nothing at all... She gives a little woof though, paw stretching out to point in a direction that she thinks might be a good direction to go. Whether she is correct... After all, maybe the person has come to rescue her or maybe they are as lost as the Dog is.]

[A Dog in a dog sled. The Dog had enjoyed that experience, debating if she should have jumped out and ran with the strange rescue team. Rather, she has enjoyed the ride, front paws up on the edge of the sled as the cool air blows into her face. The human coat is on the Dog though, partially zipped up and perhaps fitting better than one might expect it to. The hood has fallen back, and has done so several times, which is why she just leaves it down, black and tan ears flapping in the wind.

It's when it slows that the nose really starts to get to work, sniffing in one direction and then the other and back again, taking it all in. So far there have been no familiar scents, at least when it comes to people or beings, but... Is that food? There is a mild scent with the hot springs that the Dog can pin point in a direction.]

Do you think they allow dogs?

[Which is the first time that she has spoken since boarding the sled. Oops?]

[Here. She should have started here. It seems that if her tail were to beat any faster, it might just snap off her body and go flinging away. It has been the tantalizing aroma that has driven the Dog indoors. Through the shop on the main floor, she seems to ignore all the various items laid out there, having no real interest in wires or tools. The Dog can take care of most of that herself, from growing wings to lengthening her claws to making suckers on her paws. She's got it all.

It's a soft patter of feet as she goes up to the second floor, and yes... Food. She's spotted the masterpiece sitting there in the kitchen. A steak. A glorious steak. A nice cut of beef, if her nose knows, and her nose usually does know. There's an impish look around, as it seems to good to be true. Her legs extend a little, and she grows a few inches in height until her face is close enough that her tongue can almost lick the plate. Just a little more and she can reach it...]

[ Harrowhark is no social butterfly—in fact, she is downright misanthropic, and would never have answered such a question from a human or humanoid being. They can figure it out for themselves, whatever it is.

But she spends the majority of her time in Wintermute, and she has become close to a number of the sled dogs. Thus, she has learned that she likes dogs, and so when a dog herself is asking— ]

They do. I think one of the employees is a dog, come to think of it.

[ Then she takes in the full visage of the Dog and cannot hide the very slight smile that seems out of sorts with her small-but-harsh sleketon-painted form and huge dark coat and general scents of raw flesh and bone : ]

A little big, but the coat looks splendid on you.

A. Arrival

[ Perhaps it hadn't been a good idea to follow some random fox spirit into supposedly another world. Kingsley liked to think he was more reasonable than that. However, with the reassurance that his companions wouldn't be without him, he had to admit that he had been a bit curious about what this fox was offering.

Being dropped off in the middle of nowhere, with nothing to see but snow for miles around, has him regretting his decision though. Just a bit. ]

This is definitely not what I signed up for.

B. Train Station

[ Now Kingsley definitely knows that weapons that seem free for the taking are likely anything but. He might still be a bit new to the world, but he's already aware that hardly anything is ever really free. And even just this short time in this strange new world, he's already sure that the fox can't really be trusted.

But he also knows that he is without any of his weapons anyway. And he would rather have something protect himself with. So he grabs a rapier from the ground on his way to the train that will take him to see more of this place he's ended up with.

And he isn't surprised when the train is subsequently attacked by frost spirits. ]

...yeah, that tracks.

C. No Dumb Ideas

[ Kingsley had absolutely ignored any of the posters requesting for participation. It didn't seem to matter anyway, though, as he still finds himself transported someplace where he hadn't been before.

Really, he should probably be getting used to that by now.

And he isn't sure if the unfamiliarity with the technology is simply because he was still learning about things, or if it just simply wasn't available back home either. In any case, he isn't sure he trusts it. ]

Is it really a good idea to mess with that?

[Molly just wanted a doggie bag for his leftover soup. It's still hot when he appears in Wintermute, a pair of parkas appearing on the ground before him. With a sigh, he dons one, freshly washed hair covered by heavy fur so thick and a hood so deep his face is not visible. He grabs the other coat with a muttered curse in Infernal and heads out to find... a dogsled? GOOD ENOUGH, HE GUESSES.]

Uh... Go?

[Mush it may not be, but the dogs go all the same. Molly pulls up to... A very familiar face. He pauses a second, staring from under his hood. Well that's a little surprising.

He throws the spare parka in Kingsley's direction; it doesn't make it the whole way, but at least it's closer. He then endeavors to mask his voice.]

I know, surprising place, ja? [His Zemnian may be atrocious, but he's picked up that much. You can only be around Caleb so long...] Come with me if you want to live.

1. in the snow.

[ The snow is, in some ways, no different from the white sands of Hueco Mundo. At least, in appearance, the texture is wrong, the noise it makes as it crunches under his boots is off, the temperature is weird, too. The black jumpsuit he's wearing is thin, doesn't do much to fend off the cold, but it shouldn't be a problem for him. Bigger concerns are the fact that, as far as he can see, there's a lot of nothing in the distance — figures. Well, whatever, he can pick a random direction and follow it for as long as he needs.

He's a blur of black, a shock of blue as he bolts across the landscape impossibly fast for what feels like forever before coming to an abrupt halt, mere feet from a sled and pack of dogs. In spite of the exertion, he's looking cool and unbothered by the distance crossed, save for the annoyance forming across his brow, mouth curling into a scowl. ]

Oi, fox, this ain't funny. [ Growled lowly more to himself, the creature that led him here is likely long gone. Then, to whichever poor soul is supposed to be his rescuer: ] Where the hell is my sword?

[ As if they somehow have it. ]

2. at the station.

[ Grimmjow has been pulling weapons out of the snow, glaring at each one of them before discarding them, throwing them over his shoulder with little regard for the fact that they're bladed weapons. It's not his problem if someone is stupid enough to get hit by one. None of them are his. Even without retrieving them, he knows, and yet here he is. Too short, too wide, too heavy — some of them do seem to be well-crafted, but that doesn't matter.

Eventually, disgruntled and increasingly annoyed, he settles for one of the swords. He can be found testing its weight before he gets on the train, slashing at the air a few times, his expression one of calculation. It's fine, he supposes, as far as blades go. Nothing special, but it will get the job done if the job that needs doing is gutting someone. ]

What? [ Onlookers will be subject to the brusque question, a glare over his shoulder pointed in their direction as he sheathes the sword and slides it between his belts. His hand remains on the hilt. ] You got a problem or somethin', huh?

3. on the train.

[ Trains are a human thing, he knows this. Stepping into the carriage is underwhelming. Seats line each side, and he throws himself down across them, kicking his feet up and letting his eyes slip shut. Any attempt at relaxation is short-lived, though, as it doesn't take long for noise to catch his attention. ]

Hmm… [ a single blue eye opens, takes in the sight of the icy creatures now causing havoc in the carriage. His shoulders shake on a low, rumbling laugh, slowly he sits upright feet slamming onto the ground as he rises to his feet. ] Finally, things are getting interesting.

[ A wicked grin forms, half obscured by the bone mask on his cheek. The sword at his hip might not be Pantera, but he unsheathes it with as much speed and brings it down through one of the spirits with a cackle. ]

4. maybe dumb ideas.

[ He doesn't tear off a piece of the poster, instead tears down the whole poster with a scoff — he's not helping anyone, been there, done that. Not again. He's had enough of getting involved in the affairs of others.

Apparently, taking the whole poster still counts as taking a piece of it, though. Before long he's in some sort of dome, lights intermittently flashing across the curved surface. Grimmjow, however, is in no mood to play games — he's clawing at the closest surface, kicking at it, hitting the sword against it, comes dangerously close to attempting to blow up a hole in the side of it. ]

Soon as I get out I'm gonna kill whoever put me in here— [ the dome itself is see-through from the opposite side, anyone is free to observe the increasingly frantic arrancar's attempts to escape, can hear his yells. It's purely accidental that he swipes at one of the lights, a loud celebratory ding trilling out. A counter on the outside ticks up by one. ] Gotta be shittin' me, no way.

[ it's already incredibly suspicious that there are a bunch of weapons laying about; now this guy has the bright idea of combing through them and throwing them around? Honestly, it's like some people have never heard of a trap before. Rouge isn't really bothering to hide her judgmental look, even though she's short enough that the miscellaneous swords and stuff generally sailed over her head harmlessly. It's the principle of the thing! ]

"Ow."

It takes Peter a second to realize that his groaned exclamation was more out of habit than necessity, as he slowly pushes himself to his hands and knees, trying to stop his head from spinning. He must have fallen - yes, he remembers the falling. Streaking across the sky in a brilliant ball of light, a falling star the Fox had said -

"Nope. No." Peter cuts off that line of thought by speaking aloud, shaking his head. He must be out of it (even if he doesn't feel...battered and bruised? Well, no more than usual; but not the way he'd expect to feel, waking up on unfamiliar ground) - there was no Fox. "I gotta stop taking melatonin before bed."

He doesn't; his body would metabolize it faster than it could affect him, but there's nobody around to hear him chattering to himself, so shut up about it, okay?

It's then that Peter realizes, after he's taken stock of his limbs (yes, he still has four, and they all seem to be intact) that it's cold.

Really goddamn cold, actually, and the shivering starts of its own accord. He's in his Spiderman suit, which is no surprise really - he spends more time in it than out of it, anyway, even under his clothes - but he only has the suit, and thin craft store spandex wasn't going to do anything for him against the piles of snow that seemed to surround him in every direction.

Peter bounces on the balls of his feet, rubbing gloved hands together, trying to keep some semblance of warmth as he starts walking. No dice. He's aware that he doesn't thermoregulate as well as he used to, pre-bite; the bite had done a lot, and fucking with his hypothalamus was top of the list. How hungry he was all the time, the mood swings, his fucked up sleep schedule, overproduction of Somatostatin and other hormones - he's rambling in his own brain, but temperature regulation in regards to keeping his body at a toasty 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit was also on the list.

Ergo - he's barely made it 100 yards and the cold is starting to get to him.

"Okay," Peter says aloud, the shivering making his biceps shake as he keeps trudging forward - in whatever direction this was, hell, he doesn't know, is he in a forest? Where did he get thrown, New Jersey? "Now this is ow. Ow, ow, ow."


LOST & FOUND: Train

The train station is empty when he arrives.

Peter shouldn't be surprised, really - he hadn't run into anyone on the way here. Sure there were...apparently, packs of roving dogs with food carts attached to sleds, but no people (his dreams are weird these days, but it's better than the nightmares so gift, meet horse's mouth or whatever). There were swords and things stuck in the snow outside on the trail leading up to the station, but Peter doesn't bother with any of the weapons. None of them are his web shooters, surreptitiously missing from his wrists, and the loss of the tech makes him feel more exposed than the thin spandex separating him and the cold - a sword or a knife or God forbid a gun - none of that would make him feel any better either.

As if he needed any of that to be dangerous.

But while the train station is empty, devoid of people or a train, at the moment, at least it's shelter. Peter crawls up the wall, settling himself in the corner of the ceiling - it's nice to be tucked up there, out of sight, and with his back protected - even if the cold brick isn't much help with his temperature problem, either.

Matt taps the first step of the stairs with his cane and then starts up them, tapping each one. He's expecting to find someone at the top of the stairs because he can hear a heartbeat. When he crests the stairs though there's no one standing on the platform.

He slows a little as he walks along the platform head cocked trying to pinpoint the beat. It's up... that's strange. It's up. Matt doesn't need to look to 'see' this person. It's just not something he's sensed before.

There is a man wedged in the corner of the roof over the platform. Matt stops right at the safety line of the platform, his back to the guy in the roof. Given the steady heartbeat and low body temperature Matt doesn't think the guy is a threat but he keeps some of his senses on him.

Just in case.

One minute, his mind was freshly reeling from a good day (ktah you, too! Was the diary a lie? fine!), next minute, from a hallucination of a fox (did I hit my head to hallucinate this much? Barring that, what drugs am I on? I don't feel weird, but... I did just wake up somewhere new?) and...
unfamiliar place. Unfamiliar landscapes. And Chiss Ascendancy's lieutenant or whatever (seemed pretty pointless today, huh? or at least a thankless job, seeing as who's he done it for--- why even----), Eli Vanto was only human. For a moment, he felt as if something was wrong with him (the falling thing was only a dream, surely, but why was he dreaming while awake?) and, embarassingly enough, he almost stumbled (on almost nothing, at that!) in this unfamiliar place.

He looked around surreptitiously to make sure absolutely nobody saw that. Just his luck somebody would. Krayt spit!

"Ktah, what planet is this?", Eli whispered.

It is not everyone that speaks in terms of planets. Padmé has learned that there are those who have not set out of the stars, let along had the travel abilities that are fairly common within her own galaxy. His voice might be but a whisper, but the expression on his face speaks more than enough. She'd had that with her own arrival, without even adding on the appearance of an apparent child she would one day have.

"Let me guess. You followed a Fox and found yourself somewhere you were not?"
