Welcome to Folkmore's Texts From Last Night meme!

Because it's still April and Thoth is still amused, consider this round two of the Initial Misfire Edition. Initial messages maaaaay go to the wrong person! So not all hell breaks loose, replies carry forward with whoever you've reached, but you might be texting your innermost intoxicated or sleep deprived secret to someone you don't even know.

If you'd like to opt out of misfires, please include this in your top level (by prompt or overall). Otherwise, enjoy indulging Thoth's amusement and building some new CR.

This meme can be used as a branch off from our Test Drive Memes and be used as game canon or just for casual fun in the setting! You do not need to be in our game or be invited to play on our TFLN. This can be a great way to meet current players for future invites, get a feel for the setting, or just have some fun.

This can be used for samples on our applications and as spoons for players accepted into the game.

Dying. If we deal in killing so often, but when it comes to our own end someone doesn't want to tell you, never mind how, it seems ominous. Maybe it was particularly embarrassing?

It's difficult, isn't it, when others are making choices about what you want to know? They may simply not want you to worry. They may think it will negatively impact you. They may think it is not your business since you are not yet your future self. Or you may have slipped dramatically on a banana peel and fallen headfirst into a sewer for a particularly embarrassing death. [ No, wait, she goes back to erase that part. Still a kid, and she doesn't want to be too encouraging with the worst part about death being the embarrassment. (That, she hears her sister say, would be a shitty way to die.) ] Would you rather they tell you?

Yes. If I'm old enough to be sent to war I'm old enough to know how that turns out. Wouldn't you want to know? Just so you stop imagining all the options?

If someone had already spilled the beans? Yeah. I think I'd want to know. Even if that likely has its own frustrations.

Did they say why they didn't want to tell you?

No. I expect it's because I'm young. This ridiculous notion that I need to be 'protected'. Everyone looks at me and sees a kid.

Do you know if, when the Fox finally lets us go, we keep what we've gained here? Knowledge, or belongings?

It wouldn't hurt to ask them why they won't tell you. Whatever they say will be more information than you had before.

I have friends who hope that's the case. But there is no empirical data one way or the other. If you consider her stated intentions, however, there does not seem to be much point in developing potential in isolation.

I don't want to upset him. He seems pretty stressed out most of the time, though he hides it well. I want to know, but not enough to irritate one of my only friends.

No-one who ever leaves gets to come back?

[ The job they did on this kid is interesting. Absolute loyalty to the cause, not able to push into questioning... but not wanting to make a friend uncomfortable, and afraid of being alone. Is it incomplete? Or simply so focused that the lock down leaves him with no choice and then... tons of self-loathing? ]

That's understandable. But I have it on the highest authority that part of a job of a friend is being irritating. It's just something to consider.

From what I have heard, most people who leave and come back do so without their memories of their times in this place. But I haven't been here for very long either. It's possible that I've missed something.

[ Possible, but... it might be good to poke around, just to make sure. ]

Really? I'll keep that in mind.

It seems like it would be cruel to erase everything that happens here, by way of growth or knowledge. Especially if it's true that some are taken at death. What do they have to return to?

That's one way to look at it. [ All things end. ] And I agree the deliberately erasing any growth or knowledge does seem counter to Thirteen's purposes. I suggest you keep asking questions. Not knowing the answers now doesn't mean we won't ever know them.

Okay, I'll give it a try. Hopefully someone has advice on what sort of offerings to make fox spirits to get their attention. I suppose it'll be more complicated than an email and a picture of mead.

That's an oddly specific comparison. What do you usually summon with a picture of mead?

A user by the call sign IAMIRONMAN has a god friend, we are if he ever appears here going to see if he answers email prayers.

He's fun to talk to. Not the god, I don't think he's here.

When it's your friend I imagine that prayer is not particularly needed to get attention. Therefore, why would he have ever sent one, and thus know if it works?

I suppose prayer-answering wouldn't come up in casual conversation?

Honestly I can't believe nobody's tried it yet. If I had a god friend I certainly would have within the first day.

If he turns up, do you want to find out too?

...yes. Yes, I do. Maybe the more emails he gets, the better the chances of the prayer being answered.

I'm going to have to do more research, I'm not sure spamming a god is generally a good idea. Maybe if it's kept to less than a dozen..

Probably a good call. Just be careful, he might take the pictures as you inviting to actually buy him mead.

[As far as Sephiroth can tell, the average god probably gets tens of thousands of prayers a day. A few emails isn't even going to be a BLIP.]

I'm learning how mead is made currently just in case. I know you can just lore one up but I've found if you actually know how something's made first the end product is superior. Just in case.

As long as nothing else is expected but the mead I should be okay.
