Texts From Last Night

Welcome to Folkmore's Texts From Last Night meme! This meme can be used as a branch off from our Test Drive Memes and be used as game canon or just for casual fun in the setting! You do not need to be in our game or be invited to play on our TFLN. (You also don't have to use TFLN itself as a source for your messages, or you can modify them for your character.) This can be a great way to meet current players for future invites, get a feel for the setting, or just have some fun.
This can be used for samples on our applications and used as spoons for players accepted into the game!
use not required, other sources are ok too

What can I say? Zaun is a free market that doesn't limit itself by the usual trade rules; we enjoy an honour system at best.
no subject
The usual rules, no, but Zaun has its own rules and norms.
no subject
It does. Not that it matters; outsiders will make a play for both cities. You seem smart enough from my intel to know that.
no subject
I am aware. All the more reason we should find the means for our cities to work together to preserve our independence.
no subject
They will. Squabbling siblings will always unite and turn on the outsider butting into their argument.
no subject
Let us hope we've not bruised ourselves too deeply to put us at a disadvantage.
no subject
There is always politics no matter where one goes. It's simply about inserting yourself in it.
It doesn't matter. There are plenty of people within both cities for the meat grinder of war.
no subject
There's always people, and where there's people there's some level of politics. Perhaps I'm just retired.
Plenty of people who can die, but how many to ensure they don't?
no subject
I don't believe someone of your station retires from such things. That's where you move the needle.
Hmm, who can say. Zaunites are used to the threat of death on the daily; I can't say the same for the soft populous of Piltover.
no subject
There are other issues at play than the meddling of human politics. Someone has to face them.
In an ideal world, neither would be used to such things. People should not have to be used to the threat of violence and death. That is a better world to build.
no subject
Aren't you just noble stepping up to face the fire?
We don't live in ideals. Let's not waste breath on it.
no subject
It's my responsibility. You've put yourself on the line multiple times. Surely you understand that.
Closing the gap between ideals and reality is how we approach the first, even if we never reach it.
no subject
My life is living on the line; I simply know how to play my cards to reduce the likelihood of being backstabbed and murdered in most scenarios.
My, my, you do have a way with words. I can see how you made and stayed on the Council. You aren't like the others either; your dealings in illicit trade is minimal.
no subject
Those are excellent skills to have. Not foolproof, but nothing is.
I do not need to rely on illicit trade to succeed. I prefer investments that lift us all up. [ Though Mel can admit, to herself if not interested to share it with Silco at this time, that the success of HexTech is what's brought the attention of outsiders to Piltover and Zaun. Her mother is only the first to make a bid. ]
no subject
I am aware. No doubt as interesting and excellent as your own skills to avoid a knife in your back.
Oh, I am aware of your investments. Greed creeps into the pockets of Piltover same as in Zaun.
[Hextech had created considerable problems, leaving Zaun further and further behind yet again. Now it would cause war.]
no subject
Different knives, but they exist eeverywhere.
I would expect no less of you to stay well informed. It has long been my goal that Hextech should help Zaun as well as Piltover.
[ She still believes it is a force for good in the world. That some people wish to use it to violent ends does not condemn it. ]
no subject
Indeed. Watch your back.
[Warning or threat? He'd let her decide.]
That is smart, and I expect you are one of the few to potentially not underestimate me. Ah yes, because trickle-down economic and technological policies are a proven lip service from the rich and privilaged.
no subject
[ Mel takes it as both a warning and a threat. Silco can compliment her all he likes, but he has reason enough to hate her. If he deems it a good call to stab her in the back, then he'll do so. ]
Hextech hasn't done all we set out for it to do, but the recent reality check shows good reason to do more for the people of Zaun.
no subject
[As smart as she looks. Good.]
It is nice to see the threat of annihilation moves the needle in Piltover. Your fearless leader cuts the red tape better than expected.
no subject
It may be what moved many of my peers, but it's the injustice revealed that moved me. Yes, I admit I was blind to much of it before.
no subject
You know what could have also revealed the injustice? Coming to view us as we wallowed in filth and toxicity for your benefits. That is done now; you've seen the light so to speak.
no subject
It could have, yes. There's plenty of mistakes I've made over the years, ones that cannot be changed. Only the future.
no subject
Hmmm, only the future indeed. It seems you have a second chance here. Let's see what you rouse yourself to do with it.
no subject
While I haven't gained much information about the state of things back home, the time to pause and to think is an advantage I will not have back there, so I must make the most of it.
no subject
And don't call me Mister. It's Silco. Most of us will never have a family name.
Duty calls, it seems.
