Texts From Last Night

Welcome to Folkmore's Texts From Last Night meme! This meme can be used as a branch off from our Test Drive Memes and be used as game canon or just for casual fun in the setting! You do not need to be in our game or be invited to play on our TFLN. This can be a great way to meet current players for future invites, get a feel for the setting, or just have some fun.

This can be used for samples on our applications and used as spoons for players accepted into the game!

It may also be that having lived in an entire civilization full of vampires who did not hold that belief, I have little need to imagine what I would have been like. I have seen it in a thousand iterations already across the span of my life.

You don't have to explain, Mayerling, I get it. Your life would've been different, but you've witnessed other vampires live that life.

For me, it reaffirms my choices. You don't need that same affirmation.

I am glad that you have found this affirmation, and I stand by the decisions you've made to do right by you.

I know you do. I appreciate it. Really. I know the shit I've done wasn't good, and maybe it wasn't even necessary, but I did what I felt I needed. Even that was barely enough.

What is necessary and what is needed emotionally are not always the same thing. When so much was denied you for so long, getting what you could emotionally was necessary.

Have I told you in the last hour that I love you?

[ lbr, probably ]
whowillmourn: (+ wonder)

[personal profile] whowillmourn 2025-03-19 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I never tire of hearing it or knowing it. You are the most amazing part of Folkmore.

You're telling me I beat out being able to live around humans and participate in society? Golly gee. [ Yes, she laughed when she typed that. ]

I adore you.

[personal profile] whowillmourn 2025-03-21 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, as incredible as that is, as long as it had been since I was part of a society, you are more wonderful than all of that. I know and appreciate my priorities.

[personal profile] fogsong 2025-03-23 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't believe anyone else if they told me that.

You make me happy, and you make this place worth it.

I only appreciate that such intensity of my love does not frighten you away. It can be so great of feeling, and I never want it to overwhelm you.
fogsong: (005)

[personal profile] fogsong 2025-03-25 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
It didn't overwhelm me when I first died in Trench, and I don't think it's even possible now. I could drown in your love, Mayerling, and die happy.

So worry not, handsome.

[personal profile] whowillmourn 2025-03-30 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
I thought I might lose my mind when that happened, and I might have had you not returned and having returned stayed with me. It is the closest I came to full corruption in Trench.

I ask that you not die, not for a long, long time, for I am greedy and wish as many years with you as I can.

While I can't make any promises, what with life being life and Folkmore being Folkmore, I will do my very best to stick around as long as humanly (and inhumanly) possible.

It was an unreasonable question when it comes to those matters that are outside our control—I am well aware. Your best is all and the utmost I could expect from you. I admit, I wonder how being a Sleeper and perhaps even a Role might affect how long you can live, and should it make you live longer, I do appreciate that. How much of death in Folkmore is Folkmore versus a Role?
fogsong: (260)

[personal profile] fogsong 2025-04-06 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Death is pretty rare here. The last time there was a string of them, it was the fae. And I don't know if dying of old age is even possible here.
whowillmourn: (Default)

[personal profile] whowillmourn 2025-04-07 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
I do not know whether old age can come for people, yet I have clearly seen that people age while they are here. It is most readily seen in the youngest of us, yet I mark it all the same across our friends and neighbors. We grow older, for whatever that means whence we come.
fogsong: (075)

[personal profile] fogsong 2025-04-08 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Wait, you can tell people are aging?
whowillmourn: (= hesitant)

[personal profile] whowillmourn 2025-04-10 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, is that not apparent to everyone? You can see it in people's bodies and faces. You don't need to see their circulatory systems.
fogsong: (151)

[personal profile] fogsong 2025-04-11 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
Sometimes. It's obvious in kids, but I never really notice adults aging. Probably too slow a process to be obvious unless I'm looking for it.

[personal profile] whowillmourn 2025-04-13 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
Vampires age far slower than humans. In comparison, it happens immensely quickly, to age from start to finish in only a century. I can see it all around us in those we have here.
fogsong: (260)

[personal profile] fogsong 2025-04-16 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
[ ...Yeah, she's just not going to overthink that. ] Are you still aging?
whowillmourn: (Default)

[personal profile] whowillmourn 2025-04-18 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
I'm still fairly young, so yes, though I must admit the timeframe is such that it will not be noticeable for millennia. [ Mayerling smiles, aware the answer might as well be no to most people at that point. ]
fogsong: (002)

[personal profile] fogsong 2025-04-19 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
Aww, I wanted to see old Mayerling. Would you get wrinkles?
whowillmourn: (Default)

[personal profile] whowillmourn 2025-04-21 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps a couple distinguished eye crinkles given enough time.
