While Caleb seems to prefer the tactile nature of using all components, I compensate such spell casting with an arcane focus. It is slightly different.

It is only for one.. minor spell, I will be fine without it currently.

But it's still a thing. I don't need a staff to cast magic even if it can act as a focus. I just need me.

Fascinating. And how exactly does that work? There are some spells that only need Verbal and Somatic aspects to the casting. Is it like that?

Nope. I mean, I like doing motions when I cast because it's fun but I can stand still and do it. Just a terrible idea in the middle of a battle.

Yes and I promise I have plenty of Lore.

Are there words you must speak to invoke your magic or does it merely cast without any kind of component?

Good, then I shall leave that in your capable hands.

No. I think of the spell I want, reaching through the Veil into the Fade, and bring it to reality. No words or components needed. Just the mana in myself.

Oh you are going to learn how risky that is, my friend.

Truly interesting. Magic does not work that way at all where I am from. I cannot think of a single spell that does not need some form of component to take spark.

Are you assuring me that you will screw this up as it were?

Well, different worlds. Different magics. I don't need components but there are great drawbacks to my world.

Yes, indeed. I would be curious to study your type of magic, see how it bends to your will. Are the drawbacks you speak of something physical in nature or societal?

Societal. Mages are locked up for life the moment they show magical talent. If you're a good boy maybe you can be let out once and awhile but mostly you live your life imprisoned.

I'll get you a copy of the book about my life. It has plenty of examples.
