They're basically assassin royalty. Very famous. No one can see the house though. They own a whole mountain and forest around it. So it's just the gates. Plus they usually travel for work! It's not like people you're hired to kill come to your front door. Though I guess Milluki doesn't leave because he uses electronics and the internet to kill people.

Hee hee. I'm the only non-assassin in my family! All my brothers are (or were, Big Brother retired from it) assassins.

Mmmmm, I'm not entirely sure. I mean, who's going to arrest them? [ Who could take on assassins that good at what they do? ] It also might be legal some places?

You might not be an assassin but you're from an assassin family. I'd argue that still makes you an assassin princess.

It may, but most people aren't from a family of assassins. From all the movies I've watched and books I've read, it's not like that for most people. Gon grew up on Whale Island exploring the forests, fishing, and living with only his aunt and grandma.

I know most worlds are pretty varied. Mine is, too. We have big crime families but if anything could be directly tied to them, law enforcement would pounce.

I don't know how much people can tie things to them honestly. It's not something they talked about because it wasn't a concern. Besides, more people probably died trying to kill my family because they entered the estate with plans to murder them and got eaten by a hunting dog. Or killed by a butler.

What kind of butlers do you have? Hell, no wait, eaten by a hunting dog???

I am sure he will! I love how easy it is to get things with Lore because I don't know how to do that on a pillowcase myself.

Really good butlers? My family has their own butler school for their butlers. Oh, yes, hunting dogs are ferocious and grow much larger than humans.

Makes life easy. Though, you know, embroidery isn't hard. I sometimes use it with my paintings.

They sound less like butlers and more like security. Security butlers.

Embroidery AND paintings? Wow. I want to see that! I'm up for learning embroidery. It can be used to make dresses really pretty.

They do security, but they are also butlers. They bring food and drink and watch kids when they're small and welcome company (if it comes, that's not often) and man the gate and everything else. I didn't see most of the butlers because I was in my room.

I'd like that! It's really nice to learn useful things like that. I'm cooking. Nanika's baking. We can both try these out too.

It's very well paid! There's never a shortage of people working to be butlers. I did! I didn't see them that much once I was in my room, but they're very nice to me. And they protected us when we went to help Gon.

We'll have to set up a day then! & I'll need to try your cooking and Nanika's baking.

It'd be hard for anyone to be mean to you but it sounds like they earned their pay then. Though... why did you need protected? Was someone after you?

I'm happy to! We can make stuff on the Miss Madeleine, or if Nanika needs fancy baking equipment, you guys can do it at Toge's. Or we can save some stuff we make.

They're very very good. Well, Big Brother wanted Nanika to fix Gon, and Big Brother Il didn't want that to happen. So he was trying to stop it. That's allowed. It's a family thing. But it's okay, Big Brother and the butlers are very good, and everything was fine.

Toge does have some fancy shit, doesn't he? We'll have to carve out some weekend time to do some things together.

...wait, one of your own brothers was trying to hurt you? [ Hey, yo, Alluka, is it cool if she traps your big bro in the otherworld if he ever shows up? He's giving Big Asshole vibes and, honestly, needs to be double-tapped. ]

He thought Nanika would kill the whole family including him. Because Big Brother Il didn't understand. He stopped trying once Big Brother explained, though he was still a big jerk to Nanika. He doesn't treat her like a proper sister. [ Everyone has to be nice to Nanika, or Alluka doesn't like them. ]

[ She thinks that's a shit excuse and would very much like to fight him. Still, it's a member of Alluka's family... ] Maybe he just needs to... get to know her.

Maybe, but Big Brother is the only one who has been really nice to Nanika. Even Big Brother Mil isn't. He was understanding before Mama and Papa put us in my room, but he never came to play or anything after that even though he never leaves the estate.

[ Sounds like her parents played a big part in some of her brother's view of her. ]

Maybe they thought it'd be safer like that. [ No matter the reasoning, the way Alluka (& Nanika) have been treated by her own family really riles Sharon up. She'd like to throw hands (and get her ass kicked whoops). ]

I'm sure they did, but he knew better! He knew about Nanika before they did. Only he and Big Brother did. Big Brother Il and Little Brother Kal didn't.

I know they mean well. They want everyone to be safe, but they got scared and never got over it. Big Brother made them accept some things, but— Well, I'm sure if I went back to the house at home right now, I'd be back in my room. [ She doesn't focus on the negative much of the time, especially when it doesn't affect things here. But Alluka can't overlook how people treat Nanika. She won't adopt anyone who's mean to Nanika. She wouldn't do that to Nanika. And she is mad at their parents.

It's also all the harder because they don't talk about Nanika's abilities here. So it's hard to explain why her parents are so scared. How many people died. ]

[ Back in my room. Everything about that rubs Sharon the wrong way, tickles at that rage in her. When people don't understand someone's powers or existence, bad shit always happens. ]
