Texts From Folknight

Welcome to Folkmore's Texts From Last Night meme!
Because it's still April and Thoth is still amused, consider this round two of the Initial Misfire Edition. Initial messages maaaaay go to the wrong person! So not all hell breaks loose, replies carry forward with whoever you've reached, but you might be texting your innermost intoxicated or sleep deprived secret to someone you don't even know.
If you'd like to opt out of misfires, please include this in your top level (by prompt or overall). Otherwise, enjoy indulging Thoth's amusement and building some new CR.
This meme can be used as a branch off from our Test Drive Memes and be used as game canon or just for casual fun in the setting! You do not need to be in our game or be invited to play on our TFLN. This can be a great way to meet current players for future invites, get a feel for the setting, or just have some fun.
This can be used for samples on our applications and as spoons for players accepted into the game.
(exact use is not required, you can modify them for your character, you can use other sources/random text generators/shower thoughts!)

Why SOLDIER? Is that the name of your unit?
no subject
It might be an acronym, if I was ever told it wasn't important enough to remember. I have been assured many times that our unit is called "Team Glenn". Officially, there isn't one. Most aux branches I know of don't operate in units, does yours?
no subject
My initial branch didn't. I'm currently embedded in a team that focuses more on crisis management than my original training.
no subject
I suspect, without much more information to go on, that were you from my world you'd be working for the Administrative Research Department. I might easily overpower all of them, but they tend to have other means to make up the difference. They are very good at crisis management!
no subject
Research isn't the main part of my purview. What do they do to manage a crisis?
no subject
It's best to not really think of them as your average researcher. They are more of the intelligence gathering sort of 'research'. And reconnaissance and espionage. Among many, many other things. If a crisis is brewing, it's often they that will be sent to find the cause, and how it can be best prevented or contained with minimal disruption to infrastructure and civilians.
If they can't, we get called in, and SOLDIER is somewhat less adept at the minimal disruption part. Usually by the time we get the heads-up something's going on they've been aware of it and doing something about it for a while now. That got long. It's all common knowledge back on my world though.
no subject
That sounds like a pretty well thought out system. Are the sort of crises you're referring to natural disasters, or some kind of invasion?
no subject
It varies. There's been quite a lot of fighting the past couple of decades, so it takes up a lot of time.
What sorts did you handle, before being here?
no subject
She could lie. But why bother? ]
My team has mostly been focused on defense. And after that, clean up. There seem to be a lot of people who think they can take over the world or wipe out entire populations with impunity. We try to actively discourage that.
no subject
Is global takeover that frequent? Are they all of your world or do you get alien outsiders and they're the ones doing it?
no subject
It's been a very strange decade. Although the participants may change, the motives are more or less the same. Sad, really, that so many powerful people are so small-minded.
no subject
It definitely sounds strange, if you'll forgive me for saying so. Wouldn't you think the newest one would look at all the failed previous attempts, and decide this isn't going to work out?
no subject
You would think. But I don't think many people who want to take over the world and/or murder swathes of other sentient life suffer from an excess of sound reasoning.
no subject
I can't really disagree with that. Our current war going on where I'm from mostly revolves around one company trying to put power plants down in places people don't want them.
Most figure it's kind of silly to keep forcing it on people and I suppose it is, but here we are.
no subject
Why don't they want the power plants? Are they harmful to the population in some way?
no subject
As far as I can tell, differences of opinion. I can understand it, you have someone else come in and drop their stuff in the middle of your corn field and then tell you it's all theirs now.. and you can pay for the privilege of using their power..
no subject
Sounds pretty brutal.
no subject
I am told the proper word for it is 'capitalism'.
no subject
That's a system, not a description of the system. How would you characterize it?
no subject
Predatory, but not without at least some measure of improving lives. With industrialization comes sanitation, better roads, better water quality, easier access to shipping food and so on.

Natasha mentally curses vividly in several languages. She only responds, ]
To be a good SOLDIER?
no subject
Still, it's not like mako reactors are going to be put here, so I suppose it's not really important. And if someone wished to, the Fox would likely put a stop to that fairly quickly. I'm tough, but I can't fight actual gods.
